Another week went by, and finally the squads were formed for the drills. Yet instead of just sending the drill out on an exercise the way they had done for fireteams, they all went through training instead.
Controlling a group with a total of five people was not the same as controlling a group of twenty or thirty. During general situations it was still fine, but in high stakes or combat situations, not knowing how to properly command them would lead to less than optimal results. Even victory was an insufficient goal - they trained to attain the most ideal outcome in any given situation.
Nero, to no one's surprise, excelled during training. However, the instructors and professors noticed that his former teammates seemed to be showing improvements above their projections. The improvements were not drastic or immediately noticeable to all, but KMA had become very good at accurately projecting their cadets growth so any deviation, positive or negative, was worth taking note of.
