The Gateway of India plaza was a fortress of steel and barbed wire.
As Vikram approached, the sky began to take on a strange, purplish tint. The solar eclipse had begun. The moon was slowly eating away at the sun's edge, and the temperature was dropping rapidly.
A group of six Malhotra enforcers stood near the primary barricade, their dark-light scanners sweeping the area.
"I have a shadow signature!" one of them yelled, pointing his scanner toward the alley where Vikram was hiding.
Vikram didn't wait. He deactivated his fold, letting his Prana flare. He lunged forward, throwing a powerful left hook that shattered the visor of the nearest guard.
He spun, dodging a rifle butt, and drove his elbow into another guard's chest. The bio-electric discharge sent the soldier crashing into the barbed wire.
But three more enforcers opened fire, their blue bullets chipping the stone archway behind Vikram.
"Now, Rahul!" Vikram yelled into his radio.
A mile away, near the shipping docks, Rahul pressed the button on Rhea's modified EMP device.
A silent, invisible wave of electromagnetic energy swept across the plaza. The security lights died. The enforcers' rifles sparked, their blue energy barrels fading into dark metal. The automated gun turrets on the walls shut down, their barrels drooping.
"The grid is down!" Vikram shouted. "Charge!"
