I snapped out of my thoughts about my powers and my parahuman status, forcing myself to focus back on the situation I was in.
After realizing I had no idea what time it was, I quickly got up, picked up the scythe, and climbed the stairs out of the basement.
Once I was out, I paused to listen for my dad.
Luckily, he was still asleep.
That gave me enough time to sneak back to my room and hide the scythe under my bed , it wouldn't fit anywhere else.
Right now, I'm experimenting with my new energy. Apparently, it's called MA Energy.
I'm also recording my experimental results in my notebook, written in a coded language I created, so if Dad ever finds it by accident, he won't know what I'm writing about.
Not that I really care what the energy is called. What matters is what it can do, and it can do a lot.
For example, I can strengthen myself. I lifted my bed like it weighed nothing.
I don't know my upper limit yet, because there's nothing heavier in my room to test with.
Strengthening myself doesn't seem to drain my energy reserves much, but there's a downside, I can't control my strength properly. I accidentally crushed my pencil.
I also discovered that I can create things from nothing.
When I asked my power if I was really creating things from nothing, the response was:
[Affirmative]
So, yeah. I can create things from nothing.
At first, it seemed impressive, but it's not very useful. I can only create normal, mundane objects , like an ordinary knife or a phone.
And creating things takes a serious toll on my energy reserves. Just creating a simple knife drained half of my energy, and it took an hour for it to recharge.
I also can't move my creations with my mind or destroy them at will.
Side note: I might've figured out another use for this ability, but I can't test it indoors.
Apparently, I can enchant objects. I discovered this by accident, I enchanted my pen, making it hold an enormous amount of ink without changing its appearance.
(Side note: I had to switch from pencil to pen after destroying the pencil.)
When I asked my power if the pen had infinite ink, it said no.
So… that's annoying.
Enchanting things also drains my energy, depending on the scale. For example, when I enchanted my hoodie to make it resistant, it didn't take much. But if I push the enchantment further, it drains more.
List of Enchanted Items:
Hoodie: Resistance + Thermal Equilibrium
Results: The hoodie seems generally resistant to most things. I haven't tested it against much yet , just some knife cuts and light tearing.
The internal temperature stays constant no matter the room temperature.
Pen: Increased ink capacity
Result: It holds more ink, though it looks completely normal.
Pants: Thermal Equilibrium + Increased Stamina
Result: I didn't get tired at all while wearing them, though I only tested it in my room.
Knife: Increased Damage + Poison
Result: This one drained a lot of energy, especially the poison enchantment. Whenever I slash something, it cuts deeper, and poison seeps out, seemingly from nowhere.
When I asked my power where the poison comes from, it said it didn't know either.
Powers are bullshit, I guess.
And that's all I know about my powers… for now. Dad just woke up, and I'd rather not get interrupted.
{Time Skip}
Hearing the front door open, I looked out the window and saw Dad getting into his car and driving away.
I kept staring out the window, lost in my own thoughts.
Those strange memories still lingering in the back of my mind.
As I watched the sun rise, I felt grateful just to see it, to feel its warmth. That strange girl from my memories… she'd never even seen the light.
My thoughts drifted again.
What do I want?
Do I still want to be a hero?
Or do I want to be a villain… or maybe a rogue?
I still don't have an answer.
I stop and stare in silence, pushing these chaotic thoughts a way.
I turn to look at the handle of the white scythe under the bed, and think to my self.
Thinking about it all day won't get me anywhere, I should just ask for another opinion.
I pause again, letting my thoughts settle, then finally ask it, "What should I become?"
[Answer]
[Conflict]
[Elaboration]
"So… you want me to engage in conflict to gather more data, to become stronger?"
[Agreement]
"huh"
"on second thought, maybe I should do more experiments with my powers"
[Agreement]
