Chapter 40 - Hazbin Hotel short: A prize for someone.

before the second game

Y/n wondered about the streets filled with vendors. He was surprised to find that, for the first time since his arrival, there were imps working the stands.

He kept his eyes peeled while wandering around. Earlier, he had noticed a stall while walking with Loona, and it caught his attention. They were still setting up when he spotted an item he thought someone he knew might like, so he came back to see if he could win it.

Eventually, he stopped in front of the stall he had seen before. On one of the prize hooks hung a type of eye patch thing.

He knew that Vaggie felt self-conscious about the scar on her left eye, which is why she often covered her right eye with her hair. While she would never admit it, he understood and wanted to express his gratitude for their recent chat.

He walked to the stand as the imp slowly looked up at him.

The Imp gazed at the sinner, fully aware of the impending fucking he was about to receive.

Y/n: What? Why are you staring, you little shit?

Imp: Nope, nothing, nothing at all, zero, just a humble imp.

He waved his hands around as if he were trying to dissuade the sinner before him of any hostility.

Y/n: Riiiiight, okay, well, I'd like to know how to get the eye patch.

Imp: "Coughing." Okay, uh, so you, uh, you know, uh.

Y/n stared at him, confused as fuck about what the imp was trying to say.

Y/n: dude... calm down jeez.

Imp: A-Alright, so all you need to do is simply shoot the moving target.

Y/n: lightweight, easy enough, start the game.

Imp: I uh need payment first.

Y/n: "sighs." Alright, how much, 5 dollars?

Imp: 50 dollars.

(Y/n reaction)

Y/n: Hey... if you don't lower that price, I'll shove this fist up your ass and pull you out until you're a different shade of red.

Imp: Haha, did I say 50? I meant 5 dollars.

Y/n nodded and tossed 5 dollars to the imp, who then handed him a plastic safety pistol after pressing a button that made the target, shaped like a hell hog, start moving around.

Y/n turned his body sideways, raised his pistol, and closed one eye as he took his shot. To his surprise, he missed not just the first shot but also the second and third, leaving y/n astonished at how terrible his aim was.

While focusing on that, he didn't notice an imp slowly approaching him from behind.

Sallie May: Well, howdy, sister fucker.

Y/n: Huh?

Y/n's concentration faltered when Millie's sister leaned casually against the counter, gazing at him with a submissive expression.

Sallie May: Don't look so shocked, mister. My sister spilled all the details about you both from last night. We tell each other everything.

Y/n: Please don't tell me you're here to discuss sex. I'm a bit preoccupied right now.

Sallie May: Haha, of course not! You're just not my type.

Y/n: Hehe, you'd be the first not to be after me.

Sallie May: So, what are you up to?

Y/n: Just trying to get this fucking eye patch, holy crap!!!!!

Y/n tossed the plastic pistol aside as the horns blared.

Imp: Congratulations, you hit... zero.

Y/n shot him a blank stare.

Sallie May: You're aware these things are often rigged, right?

Y/n turned his head toward her, staring for a moment before finally responding.

Y/n: Oh, right, I kind of forgot that. "Scratches his cheek." Well, as they say, to beat a rigged system, you have to rig it yourself.

Y/n once again threw money at the imp, but this time, instead of five dollars, he handed over one hundred.

Stepping back, Y/n stretched out his hand. Suddenly, black goo emerged from the ground, morphing into around twenty figures representing the souls of the damned, who began ransacking his stall for a plastic pistol.

One of the figures stopped in front of the imp, casting a dark aura that grew more intense as it approached, prompting the imp to take a step back before it slammed its hand against the wall to start the game.

Y/N: Alright, you damned souls of the cartel. Do not let me down, and let's show this imp what kind of people you truly are.

The imp watched as his eyes widened, each of the 20 black figures raising their arms and pointing their pistols at him instead of the game's target. What made it worse was that they weren't even looking at him; they were still focused on the sinner.

The imp took a deep breath and closed his eyes, knowing his end was near.

(imp)

The souls relentlessly pounded the stall with countless plastic bullets, continuing even after the game's horn had sounded.

Sallie May: Damn, now I see why my pa doesn't want me mixing with you sinners.

Y/n: Yeah, definitely, you never want to mess with the wrong sinner... I know a friend who made that mistake.

Sallie May: Well, I'll keep that in mind if I ever visit that pride ring of yours, Mister Sinner.

Y/n raised his hand, causing the souls to halt and glance back at him.

As the dust gradually settled, the stall appeared utterly demolished compared to before. Y/n walked closer until he could peer over the wrecked counter and see the imp clutching the ground, panting heavily.

Which y/n merely smirks at him and reaches out with his hand.

Time skip

Y/n sat on the edge of Vaggie's bed as she approached him slowly, her hand resting on her hip.

Vaggie: What did you want to talk about that made my room the best place for it?

Y/n: I'm hurt, vaggie first, you take me to your room, and next, force me onto your bed without so much as a date.

Vaggie: Really now, huh? Last I checked, isn't it a man's job to ask me out on a date?

Y/n: Touché, okay, I genuinely wanted to thank you for the talks that we had. You really lifted my spirits, and it took me a few days to regain my footing. Yet, there was one thing I realized I needed to do.

He pulled out a box from behind him and presented it. Vaggie took it and began unwrapping it.

Y/n: It's not much, but I figured you might appreciate it so you won't have to rely on the bandages for your eye anymore.

He couldn't see Vaggie's face because her hair was covering it. When she opened the top of the box, she saw an eye patch with an X over it.

She grasped the eye patch, oblivious to his gaze. Vaggie smiled gently as she positioned it over her left eye and swiftly turned to face him.

(Vaggies finally completed her full outfit look)

Vaggie: So what do you think?

Y/n: woah, you look hot as fuck... "coughing" I meant it looks good on you, and it even seems to pass onto your hair, kind of like the X being on top of your hair.

She turned her head, her cheeks flushed with a faint smirk, as she lifted a finger to push her hair back.

Vaggie: I think it suits me too ... thanks. Now then, how about we head back with everyone?

Y/n: sure

The two started walking back towards the others while noticing something.

Vaggie: Nice glove.

Y/n glances at his right hand, grasping it with his other hand. He applies gentle pressure, noticing it sinks a bit in the middle of his hand.

Y/n: Thanks, I picked it up while I was out of town.
