The car arrived back at Tinglan Waterside, and Qin Yuji was confused to see Chi Jingxuan accompany her to watch TV instead of organizing his things after bringing the suitcase into the study.
Chi Jingxuan smiled and ruffled her hair, "Those things, they're not the point. They're just a smokescreen."
"A smokescreen?"
Almost instantly, Qin Yuji understood, "So you were just testing their reaction?"
Chi Jingxuan nodded with a bitter smile, "So many years have passed, even if there were any clues, they would have been completely destroyed. What could I possibly find? I was just observing their reactions, that's all."
"And what did you see?"
Qin Yuji asked cautiously.
With an almost inaudible sigh, Chi Jingxuan shook his head, "Nothing."
Seeing Qin Yuji's disbelief, Chi Jingxuan laughed, "Really, there's nothing. Besides, when have you ever heard me talking nonsense without proof?"
Chi Jingxuan never spoke without solid evidence, and Qin Yuji was the same.
