Chapter 318 - Chapter 318 : Overgrown Lizard

The night sky was ablaze with fire, Kaido's drunken roars echoing like thunder as he soared overhead in his dragon form, spewing flames across the countryside. Villagers screamed, running in all directions. Houses collapsed, the earth trembled, and everything was thrown into chaos.

Maki gritted her teeth. "This is insane. He's wiping out everything just for fun!" She turned to Yuta. "I'll save as many people as I can. You… do what you did before. Send him flying."

Yuta smirked, cracking his knuckles. "Ah, my favourite part of the job." He smirked, however, unlike the first time he face this dragon, this time he wasn't so certain.

The lack of sleep and tiredness were catching up to both of them.

Watcing at the looming calamity of a dragon blewing fire and leaving behind destruction in his path was motivation enough to act, leaving behind their chance to get some real romance done or better yet, rest.

However, motivation can drove a person so far...

Without another word, Maki dashed off into the burning village, smashing apart falling beams with her naginata, pulling children out of rubble, barking orders like a seasoned warrior. She knew she would be no help against Kaido.

She could only help by doing this—saving others from danger. Unlike Yuta at least her heavenly restricted body was performing at almost top shape.

Yuta, on the other hand, launched himself straight at the massive dragon circling overhead. Wary of the past few days of toil yet he rush forward nonetheless.

There wasn't any system message or rewards compelling him or anything. It was just pure morals.

He was strong enough to help so why not. Isn't that what a hero suppose to be.

"HEY, UGLY!" Yuta shouted, his voice echoing. "Come fight me instead of burning innocent people, you overgrown barbecue lizard!"

Kaido's serpentine head whipped around, his eyes bloodshot, his breath stinking of sake. "Who da hell…?!" His voice was deep and slurred, dripping with rage. "Another pest who wants to die?"

Yuta didn't flinch. He activated ROFA at seventy-five per cent with his king's engine, his aura crackling violently as his cursed energy mixed with haki. In an instant, he shot forward, his fist colliding with Kaido's jaw. The impact shook the sky, forcing Kaido's enormous body backwards through the air.

For a second immense weakness spread through Kaido's body, his body fell down. However, this attack of Yuta wasn't as strong as what he was able to do back in Zhou.

Main reason being Yuta was at his 100% back then, now though he was seriously tried and instead of hitting the head, he hit the jaw.

Just as Yuta thought the dragon was down for few seconds, Kaido got up again. This time there was no Sea or Zunesha to keep the overgrown blue lizards down for long.

The dragon roared in surprise, flames bursting from his mouth. Yuta zipped through them, using shock-powered movements to dodge, slamming his fist into Kaido's snout again and again.

ROFA 75, shock style palm.

Yuta yelled, releasing a compressed burst of energy straight into Kaido's face. The explosion lit up the sky, sending Kaido crashing into the ground below, carving a massive crater into the earth.

Villagers stared in shock. Someone gasped, "He… he knocked down a dragon?!"

Yuta floated above the wreckage, panting. "Hah… still the same."

Of course, fate had other plans.

The ground quaked as Kaido stood up, laughter booming like rolling thunder. His massive body shrank and shifted, scales hardening into armor-like skin as his dragon form condensed into something far more dangerous—his hybrid form.

Yuta of course knew this form, but he was surprised seeing Kaido enter it straight away. Wasn't this one of his strongest forms?

Little did Yuta know, he had punched Kaido directly on the head the next time he attacked, nearly breaking his skull. This immediately made Kaido realize that whoever this enemy was, he had to fight seriously.

However, Kaido was also drunk right now, and thus he couldn't completely get into that serious phase. In fact, he even had time to look straight into Yuta's face without seeing multiple enemies in front of him.

Still, being an emperor, he was ready to fight. His strength stood at the top of the seas.

Now towering with bulging muscles, horns curling like a demon, and a sake bottle still dangling from his hand, Kaido cracked his neck. "Don't get cocky."

Yuta frowned. "This isn't going to be as easy as it was the last time, is it?"

Kaido vanished in a blur, his spiked kanabo already swinging down. Yuta barely raised his arms in time, haki coating his skin as the blow smashed into him. The impact rattled his bones, sending him crashing through a hillside.

"Yuta!" Maki shouted, her voice distant as she held onto a crying child.

Yuta coughed, standing up. His arms throbbed with pain, his haki barely holding up. He forced a smile. "Still alive… but my body definitely hates me right now."

Only for a second though since while he didn't had the absurd durability require for someone of this world to fight, he had an even broken healing rate thanks to his ROFA.

His healing was almost god tier since all of his power was reverse curse technique. As long as he had Hero Time and didn't suffer an attack to outright kill him, he can heal back.

Sure enough, just in seconds he body was repaired.

'So that was Conqueror's Infusion... its terrifying.'

'Even ROFA at 75 with shock power is not enough…' Yuta thought grimly. Even Rika's scarf wasn't able to stop that energy. It wasn't exactly Kaido's club which hit him but the terrible Haki coated around it.

It was Conqueror's infusion.

If only he had full access to his ROFA power or could control his conqueror's haki to use entanglement.

Kaido stumbled toward him, laughing drunkenly. "Good! This fight's getting fun!" His conqueror's haki exploded out like a storm, lightning splitting the sky. Even the ground beneath them cracked under the sheer pressure.

Yuta gritted his teeth, trying to push forward, but his own conqueror's haki wasn't refined enough to clash equally. His strikes landed, but Kaido's club, now infused with conqueror's entanglement, tore through Yuta's defenses with every swing.

"Damn it!" Yuta hissed, blood dripping from his mouth as another blow sent him skidding across the dirt. His ROFA was powerful, his shock techniques kept him fast, but without conqueror's entanglement, it was like punching into a hurricane barehanded.

The biggest problem was that Kaido's defenses could handle even his strongest attacks. He was doing damage—Yuta could see it—but not enough.

In return, Yuta barely had enough defense to withstand Kaido's strikes. His haki and Rika's scarf were hardly coping with the relentless attacks.

His fatigue from not getting any rest up to this point wasn't helping.

It had already been a seventy-two-hour day for him without sleep—first in the MHA world, then in the past, and now here. He was tired. He hadn't used ROFA much, so his hero time was fine, but his body wasn't working at its best.

He needed rest. Both he and Maki.

Kaido staggered forward, laughing hysterically. "Why the heck do you look familiar?"

Yuta panted heavily, his body screaming for rest. He could barely keep up now. His attacks slowed, his haki cracked under the pressure of Kaido's strikes.

Maki finally regrouped with him, her naginata dripping from battle as she set down the last villager she had saved. She glared at Kaido, then at Yuta. "We need to retreat. You need rest for this kind of fight."

Maki understood very well. Fatigue was the real issue here. She needed to get both of them out as soon as possible.

Yuta looked at her, sweat running down his face. "I know… but if I leave now, more people will die."

Maki grabbed his arm firmly. "And if you stay, both of us die. Then who saves them tomorrow?!"

For a moment, Yuta hesitated, clenching his fists. Kaido was laughing, stomping toward them, swinging his club lazily like he had already won. Though only he knew he was hurt. Those attacks had hurt him—hurt him enough for Kaido to directly enter his hybrid form.

It was just his monstrous durability and regenerative power that allowed him to cope with those powerful attacks.

'Who is this boy? He's got that old man Whitebeard's power. But more importantly, I feel like I have seen him before. Where ? Tch can't remember !' Kaido himself was confused. Part the intoxicated state of his and part cause he geniunely couldn't recall when he met him.

If somewhere where to ask Yuta, he too didn't had any answer, after all this was 10 years in the past.

Yuta's pride burned. He wanted to fight. He wanted to win.

But reality was clear—without conqueror's entanglement, he couldn't beat Kaido now. Perhaps even in his peak outside Prime Time, he can't beat Kaido one on one.

'Perhaps...' His mind went back on the technique he didn't have much attention to all this time but in the time of need, perhaps it might be the only option. The only problem, he only did it due to Prime Time Boost.

He never tried it outside of it, he doubt he can pull it off.

Yuta let out a long sigh, defeated but determined. "Fine… I hate this, but you're right." He took Maki's hand. "Hold on tight. I'll try something stupid again."

She snorted, squeezing his hand. "That's the only thing you're good at."

As Kaido raised his club for the final swing, Yuta closed his eyes, focusing desperately. His cursed energy flared wildly, mixing with his unstable time-travel ability. The air around them warped, the world rippling like water.

Kaido's attack came crashing down—

But before it could land, Yuta and Maki vanished in a burst of light.

Kaido's club slammed into the ground, creating a massive shockwave that obliterated half the hillside. He looked around drunkenly, confused. "Huh? Where'd they go?"

Confusion. Was this a dream?

Did he drink too much?
