The evening light filtered through the window lattice, casting mottled shadows on the carpet.
Brittany leaned against the sofa, her fingertips caressing her slightly swollen belly.
"Your Majesty! Guess what I heard at the market today?" Her personal maid stood beside her, taking a fruit from the bowl and feeding it to Brittany, then continued, "A batch of rune masters arrived, watching the street lamps every night, trying to replicate the runes on them. They've been watching for three or four days now."
"How did they become rune masters with that intelligence!" Brittany chuckled lightly, then said, "Make an announcement when you have time; staring directly at those street lamps can harm their eyes. Give them a heads-up."
"Why bother with them! If we say something now, they'll think we're afraid they'll learn it!" The young maid muttered.
This personal maid had escaped together with Brittany.
