IMOGEN'S POV
I picked up my phone and scrolled through my contacts until I found Dr. Webb's number. Isaac watched me from the couch, still holding that torn photograph like it might disappear if he let go.
"What are you thinking?" he asked.
"I'm thinking we need more than just half a photo." I pressed call and listened to the ring. "We need everything Valentine had on Elijah."
Dr. Webb answered on the third ring, his voice carrying that careful professionalism doctors never quite shake off even in retirement.
"Imogen? This is unexpected."
"I need to ask you about Valentine Sutton. About his final days."
A pause. "That's a difficult subject. Why do you ask?"
"Did he ever mention having documents? Files? Something he wanted to keep safe for his daughter?"
Another pause, longer this time. "I'm not sure I should discuss patient confidentiality, even posthumously."
"Doctor, this isn't about medical records. This is about justice."
