Chapter 138 - Power Increase

As soon as he felt the energy enter his body, Steve felt as though a raging fire surged within his veins. It burned like nothing he had ever felt before, but he didn't make a sound; he couldn't afford such distractions at the moment.

At the same time, his skill activated, beginning to absorb the power at an alarmingly fast rate. One moment, he felt as if he would burn to death, and the next, he felt completely fine. Yet, he sensed an immense amount of power within him.

This was far beyond anything he was used to or had seen before. The most powerful Monarch he had encountered was Yurgumunt. Baran, who was later turned into Judy, was just resurrecting and hadn't yet fully regained his powers when Steve defeated him.

Legia had been sealed by the Rulers, and in retrospect, it was likely a test to see whether Steve was on their side or the side of the Monarchs.

The test must have failed, as they sent Sung Ill-Hwang to try to kill him. As for the Architect, that being wasn't nearly as powerful as the Celestials Steve had encountered so far. In fact, in comparison, the Architect seemed to be a sort of prototype for them.

From Legia's memories, he could see what the Rulers looked like—giant, four- or six-winged creatures. The Architect looked similar and had four wings, though they appeared shriveled.

Steve's theory was straightforward: either the Architect was a defective Ruler, or he was an earlier creation, given that he was the only one with a unique power set not unlike that of the Shadow Monarch. The Shadow Monarch ruled over Death and, to some extent, souls, whereas the Architect ruled over Creation.

If the materials were available, then he could create from them—specifically, the basic elements of the universe: matter and energy. Steve knew this because it was the same for him.

With the process complete, Steve stood up as carefully as possible. He didn't want a cliché burst of power, as he wasn't yet used to controlling his new strength.

"Congratulations, sir!" Legia shouted, kneeling down.

"Now this is more like you. I honestly thought you were possessed for a second there," Judy said with a smile.

"You wish," Steve replied.

Still, he thought about it: could his body even be possessed? Not because of his power and current status—those made it impossible—but could a reincarnated body even be possessed? It was an amusing question to consider.

As carefully as he could, Steve left the house and marched straight to his training field. Trainor was designed to adapt to the opponent's level of power and create a near-indestructible shield around them, called a room. This prevented the shockwaves from their battle from affecting the outside world, no matter how much energy they unleashed.

It could be used for many things, including, but not limited to, serving as a prison for opponents—since Trainor doesn't stop until you defeat it—or as a perfect training ground, or as a restriction base, as he was using it now.
