Cooking a meal for two doesn't require much effort, especially when there's not much culinary skill involved. Ding Long made two dishes and a soup with little choice. Once the food was on the table, he took off his apron, turned the doorknob of the room, only to find it was locked. He knocked on the door from outside, saying, "Jinshi, it's time to eat."
The person inside naturally didn't respond to him. He waited a few seconds, and seeing no reaction, he added, "If you have a preference for me climbing through the window to invite you to dinner, just this once, I can indulge you in honor of our recent marriage."
A few seconds later, the door opened in response.
Ding Jinshi, now changed into home clothes, glanced at Ding Long then walked downstairs by herself, not waiting for Ding Long. She sat at the dining table and began to eat immediately.
