Chapter 109 - PWA 109 Homura, Nincada and Drum Bath

(Homura's PoV)

Finally after searching for half an hour, I found the information of a Pokémon that would be suitable to become the next member of my team.

What other Pokémon suit a ninja more than a Ninjask?

Their name alone screamed Ninja!

And I got the news that there are a lot of Ninjask and their unevolved form Nincada in the Forest on the route between this City to Jelly Bean Town.

The location of Nincada habitat is deep inside the Forest after the small mountain and hills to the south of the Cupcake City.

So after I take a note of the location and marking them on the digital map in my PokeGear, I get out of the PC Corner and spend the night resting in an Inn near the exit of the City.

The day after, I wake up even before the sun rises and check out of the Inn while having a light breakfast on the ration I have bought the day before.

Can't help it, I want to get out from this City as fast as possible.

After all, who knows if people in my Clan still tailing me even after I have gone so far away?

Especially since you can check about the Trainer's information in Pokémon League website to see how much Badge they have already collected, and thus people can deduce your whereabouts from it.

Since I have just gotten the Stone Badge just yesterday, if there is someone in my Clan who looked after my information on the League, they can easily guess that I must be in Cupcake City or still near it right now.

And thus, to prevent meeting the people from my Clan as much as possible, I get up early and leave the City as fast as possible to my next destination.

The Nincada's nests!

Without much trouble, both me and Froakie easily crossed the small mountain on that acts as a natural barrier against invaders on the border of the Cupcake City.

The Rock and Ground type wild Pokémons around here are a good punching bag for my Pokémon's training.

My Froakie even learned a new Water type moves from the training today, the Water Pulse!

With the new and even more powerful move compared to its Water Gun that it have learned from the start, my Froakie literally bulldozing its way through all the Rock and Ground type Pokémons around here.

Totally Rocks!

We get down from the mountain and reached the forest before even the sun setting.

But I decided to just call it a day for now and we searched for a good place to camp and spend the night in the wild before the night fall.

After we found a perfect place near a small creek, I took out a barrel drum from my ninja pouch and gathered some fire wood to be burned to heat up the water for my hot bath.

Aaaahhhhh~~~~ This is life~~~~

Such are my thoughts as I dipped myself in the Hot Water on my Barrel Drum.

I took a Hot Barrel Bath in the wild while looking at my Froakie which is also having its sweet time swimming on the creeks.

As people from Oreo City like me, taking a bath everyday is a must!

(Author's Note: Oreo City is a Japanese style Ninja City in this wacky Pokémon World, so you can expect a lot of Japanese Stuff from the people there, including their bathing cultures and habits ♨️)

After we finished bathing and cleaning up ourselves, I take out the water from the drum, put it up side down to dry up before we used the fire to cook up some simple food like a roasted Magikarp and the warm up rations.

Then we go inside the tent to sleep together, I let my Froakie out of its pokeball so that we can always be ready for battle or run away in case we are getting ambushed by either the people fro my clan or some wild Pokémons in the middle of the night.

Hmmm.... My little Froakie's body is so squishy, slick and cold.

Its like you are hugging a cold pudding when I am sleeping with it.

My Froakie also seems to be getting comfy with my body warmth while we are hugging each other when falling asleep, it quickly snores cutely in my embrace.

On the next day, we setup the camp and cleanup our tracks before the Hoothoot hoots to signal the dawn coming.

Before the first ray of sun even lights the horizon, both me and Froakie is already entering deep into the forest, fighting the Grass and Bug type Pokémons along the way, mostly the nocturnal ones like Oddish, Cascoon and Dustox.

Those wild night Pokémons are mostly on their way home to take a rest on their nests or hiding behind bushes or under the thick foliage of the trees.

In Oddish's case though, they simply search for a moist soil before they planted themselves and hides among many other plants in the forest.

As the sun rises and the day lighten up, we got deeper and deeper inside the forest where the trees have stood so tall and their leaves blocked the sun like a thick shade, making the light under the canopy of the trees getting dimmed.

But the dim light didn't hinder me and my Pokémon in the slightest bit.

As a Ninja, we both have been trained to see well in the low light and even in the darkness of the moonless night.

My Froakie have it easier than me, though.

After all, as a Pokémon it have a natural advantage compared to us humans in regard about this kind of things.

Soon, we finally reached our target location, the area deep in the forest where Nincada lives in.

We immediately searched around and found a lot of them in no time.

We even encountered some Ninjask and occasionally, the eerie Shedinja too.

About the wild Nincada, Froakie didn't have any problem handling them all.

As for the Ninjask, though, we must either run away or defeat them quickly by working together since their Speed Boost ability can make them practically more difficult to the point of becoming almost impossible to be touched the longer the battle against them has go on.

And lastly for the Shedinja, well, it is a good thing that my Froakie have a Ghost type move Lick on its disposal, or else I don't know what can harm those eerie, ghostly bug Pokémon.

We both scoured the area, fighting some Pokémons here and there in search for a Nincada that I would feel to be special.

Regarding the Pokémons that I am about to include on my team, I don't want to half assed when I am catching them by myself.

I won't catch a Nincada that is weak and can be easily getting disposed of by my Froakie.

That would mean I will need to take an even longer time to train them from the scratch compared to if I were to catch a stronger one in the beginning.

But since we are in the wilderness where the wild Pokémons here are comparably weaker than the ones that have been groomed by a Pokémon Trainer, I also don't sety bar too high for my requirement.

At least I will try to catch the first Nincada that can give a good fight against my Froakie.

So far there is none of them that can meet my criteria, though.

Almost all of the Nincada here have already been floored by my Pokémon in just one or two move(s).

There are some cases where the Nincada are capable of taking on my Pokémon until its third move, but most of the time it is only because they are getting lucky in dodging on of my Pokémon's attack.

I don't want to take those Pokémons that only rely on luck to survive.

But sometimes, though, I do have the idea to just take one of those happy go lucky Pokémons.

Particularly since there are no other Nincada that is better than them.

But I managed to shrugged off that temptation and keep on holding upon my ideals.

[ ] Author's Note [ ]

I have looked at Froakie's move pool on the latest generation of Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. But then I am getting confused and can't help but rubs my eyes for multiple times since I see that a Froakie, despite it being called as a Bubble Frog Pokémon by the Pokédex, but it can't naturally learn a Bubble or Bubble Beam from the start.
