Laenon understood this and grasped his thoughts. He wasn't as "spiritual" as most spirits because throughout his life he had focused on researching Alchemy, a field of study that isn't exclusive to spirits. He hadn't developed such an intense love or such a strong reverence for the Spiritual Essence.
Gideon was different. Although he was a top-tier alchemist, he was also immensely powerful. He was much closer to the powers of the Spiritual Essence.
To him, someone like the Supreme Elders—who wielded tremendous physical power throughout the spiritual world—was more dangerous and worthy of reverence than the Spiritual Essence itself; not because they were greater, but simply because one could be killed and the other had never done anything of the sort.
Perhaps Laenon was too superficial, or Gideon too devout.
