The ruby," he said. "It matches your eyes."
She tilted her head. "You noticed."
"I notice everything about you."
They stood there for a moment. His hand on her neck. Her eyes on his face.
Then Lilith stepped back. Picked up a small bag from the table.
"Let's go, Noah?" she asked.
Noah nodded.
They left the inn together.
The city of Veranth was awake. The streets were busy. Vendors called out their wares. Children ran through the crowds. The smell of fresh bread and roasting meat filled the air.
