The interruption succeeded in confusing Hannah, and pulling her mind out of the foul pit bothering her.
Lucas rolled his eyes at her:
"I'm not applying to be a princess consort. We are joining a mercenary group, one led by a princess of the empire."
"Hm? Oh!"
Realization dawned on the youngest of the group, and her face flushed. She seemed to have indeed been spending too much time in questionable company.

Klain stepped out of the lift that opened straight into his quarters as the garrisoned Border Army Commander. It was wider than the suite the guests were now occupying, less empty, but the personal touch to the decoration, and more luxurious. He had passed the level where he had to put up with austere conditions to build up character and be broken into fitting into the whole instead of simply being an individual.
