Lucas suddenly coughed, and he covered his mouth to block the blood that came up, preventing it from falling on Estrella. When his body calmed down, he lowered his hand, and looked at the vibrant red liquid in his palm.
However, he was not surprised. He looked at the broken halberd handle he had in his other hand, savoring the feeling of oneness he had managed to attain with its help just a moment ago. Unfortunately, he seemed to need more work before he could make that state permanent, and access all his potential. But obviously, the handle was a treasure, as he had thought.
He turned his sight back to Estrella, and felt the slower spread of what he was tempted to call the tears of the void inside her. He… might need to prepare energy for her to absorb.
He let out a shallow smile, and moved to push the white strands of her hair on her forehead aside. But he stopped, not wanting to dirty her with the blood on his hand. Right then, a stir came from behind him.
