After training for a while Golden Skyline with Mutsuki, Guy returned to Chen-sensei's team. Their team couldn't take on missions without Guy, as Genma and Ebisu were both Genin who had graduated less than a year ago.
After Guy's return, Chen-sensei thought for a while and accepted a B-Rank mission. B-Rank missions usually involve Ninjas, but their rank generally does not exceed Genin. Most B-Rank missions typically deal with Ninjas from small ninja villages or wandering Ninjas rather than those from the five great countries.
Chen-sensei believed that even if he didn't intervene, his students could easily handle a B-Rank mission. With Guy around, they could even manage unexpected situations.
"Are we really doing a B-Rank mission this time?" Ebisu was a bit surprised, as they hadn't even completed two C-Rank missions.
"Isn't that great? The reward for a B-Rank mission is much higher than that of a C-Rank mission," Genma said with a smile. He was quite good at his studies and knew very well the difficulty levels corresponding to each task. Given their team's strength, taking on a B-Rank mission was completely manageable.
"C-Rank missions only involve ordinary people, which won't help you improve your combat abilities," Chen-sensei explained.
He wanted to focus on training Ebisu and Genma during this mission. Under the stimulation of Guy, who was an exceptionally strong peer, both of them had been training diligently. Even from Chen-sensei's relatively strict perspective, they were performing quite well.
As for Guy, given the missions their team could currently take on, he wouldn't gain much from them. If it weren't for Guy's insufficient contributions, Chen-sensei believed that he could easily become a Special Jonin through Taijutsu alone.
"Youth is all about fighting stronger opponents!" Guy exclaimed, giving a big thumbs up with a hearty laugh.
Genma also gave Guy a thumbs up; with Guy around, he felt secure in battle. After a brief chat, Ebisu began to study the mission details carefully.
After making contact with the client, the group set off. On the way, Chen-sensei deliberately fell back a bit to speak with Guy.
"Guy, during a fight, try to control your strength. Don't defeat all the enemies at once; let Genma and Ebisu take them down themselves," Chen-sensei advised quietly. He was worried that if Guy got too excited and used the Konoha Dragon God to take out all the enemies instantly, this B-Rank mission would lose its significance beyond just the higher reward.
"Genma and Ebisu have far less battle experience than you; they need more training."
"I understand! No problem!" Guy nodded in agreement.
The day after leaving the Land of Fire, the four encountered six enemies, none of whom were wearing headbands.
Chen-sensei protected the client while Guy and the others each faced two enemies.
Although they could easily take out their opponents, Guy controlled his strength to maintain a simple suppression, keeping an eye on Genma and Ebisu's situation as Chen-sensei had advised.
It was Ebisu's first time fighting outside village Ninjas during a mission. Initially a bit nervous, he quickly relaxed after realizing that his opponents were weaker than he had imagined after exchanging a few blows.
Bang! Bang!
Facing the two attackers, Ebisu used clever Taijutsu to deflect their strikes and pushed them back several steps with his fists.
"So weak."
For a moment, Ebisu even felt that his opponents were weaker than Ninja Academy students, but he knew this was just an illusion.
It wasn't that the enemies were too weak; it was that he had grown stronger. Thanks to Chen-sensei's guidance and his diligent training, he was no longer the Ebisu who was eliminated in the first round of practical exams back then.
"Ebisu, watch out!"
Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the two Ninjas fighting Genma braced themselves against one of his attacks and launched a sneak attack on Ebisu.
"Confusion Jutsu!"
After a brief moment of thought, Ebisu immediately used the Ninjutsu that had once created miracles.
In an instant, several coolly dressed older sisters with their unique features appeared around Ebisu.
Chen-sensei, closely watching the battlefield, felt a warm liquid trickle from his nose.
"This kid has definitely been doing a lot of research; they looks even better than before," Chen-sensei thought to himself.
Although the wandering Ninja didn't nosebleed, he didn't expect this little brat to have such a strange Ninjutsu, causing him to hesitate for a moment with his drawn blade.
Though the pause was extremely brief, Ebisu seized the opportunity to dodge the attack using Body Flicker Jutsu.
The wandering Ninja instantly showed a look of frustration as he slashed through all the cool clones that had rushed at him.
"Lightning Release: Electric Beam!"
Genma immediately spat out the Senbon he had been holding in his mouth, then quickly threw several Shuriken and unleashed a Lightning Release.
Originally, they couldn't handle even one enemy together, so the remaining wandering Ninja was instantly overwhelmed by Genma's powerful assault.
Then, Genma and Ebisu surrounded the three wandering Ninjas.
Seeing his teammates gain a significant advantage, Guy stopped holding back and revealed his true strength.
"Stone Breathing, Total Concentration!"
"Konoha Great Whirlwind!"
Guy focused his breathing and concentrated his power in his legs, delivering a powerful Whirlwind Kick, which he excelled at.
Such enemies didn't even deserve him to use the Eight Inner Gates; after all, he had trained hard to learn them through self-restraint.
Bang! Bang!!
The two wandering Ninjas beside Guy felt an overwhelming force rush toward them and instantly lost consciousness as they were sent flying.
Boom!
The two wandering Ninjas crashed hard to the ground, falling unconscious.
"I was still thinking we might run into a Ninja above Genin level this time; it turns out you didn't use your full strength, Guy," Genma said as he finished off the last enemy.
He believed that to hold Guy back, they would need a Chunin; a Genin would be easily kicked away.
Ebisu glanced at Chen-sensei and realized something.
"You all did quite well; you're starting to resemble my students," Chen-sensei said with a serious expression.
Ebisu's lips twitched. If it weren't for the red stains on Chen-sensei's face that he hadn't wiped clean, he might have looked somewhat respectable. But with that image, it really felt like he was just putting on an act.
Noticing Ebisu's gaze, Chen-sensei wiped his face again and began to review the recent battle with Genma and Ebisu, pointing out their issues.
There were certainly no problems with Guy; after all, he had taken out an enemy with just one kick after focusing slightly.
After that, Guy and the others didn't encounter any more enemies and safely delivered the client to their destination before quickly returning to Konoha.
However, a small incident occurred when they returned to Konoha. Not long after entering through the Beginner gate, they encountered another disciple of Chen-sensei.
"Chen-sensei." A young man, about 1.75 meters tall with a muscular build, greeted Chen-sensei with great respect.
"So this is Guy?" The young man then looked at Guy.
Although he had never met Guy, he had heard Chen-sensei describe him, and his distinctive features made it easy for him to recognize him at a glance.
"His name is Kawai Takuya. Like you, Guy lacks talent in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, but his Taijutsu skills are considerably better than yours," Chen-sensei said, nodding as he briefly introduced his eldest disciple to the others.
Listening to Chen-sensei's introduction, Guy gave Kawai Takuya a thumbs up. He understood how difficult it was to become a Ninja without any talent in Ninjutsu or Genjutsu.
After all, before meeting Mutsuki, he had been at the bottom for a full three years.
Ebisu and Genma also greeted Kawai Takuya.
"Guy, I heard you've already started practicing the Konoha Dragon God. Can I see it?" Kawai Takuya asked curiously.
He had always wanted to learn Chen-sensei's Konoha Dragon God, but he hadn't met the requirements yet. Knowing that Guy, who was significantly younger than him, had already begun practicing it made him eager to witness and learn from it.
"Of course," Guy readily agreed, feeling quite favorable toward Kawai Takuya.
The group then casually made their way to a training ground.
"Make sure to pay attention. If you can reach Guy's level, I'll feel a bit more at ease," Chen-sensei said, giving Kawai Takuya a tap on the shoulder.
With the current outbreak of war, he was very worried that Kawai Takuya, with his limited skills, would end up dead on the battlefield.
While Guy also only knew Taijutsu, his Taijutsu was strong enough, whereas Kawai Takuya's skills weren't sufficient to compensate for his lack of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu.
Kawai Takuya nodded respectfully and then looked seriously at Guy.
"Stone Breathing, Total Concentration!"
"Eight Inner Gates, Gate of Opening, Open! ...Gate of Life, Open!"
Because the Konoha Dragon God had high physical requirements, Guy pushed his body to the peak of its normal condition.
"Really impressive!" Even though Chen-sensei had mentioned it before, experiencing Guy's full power in person left Kawai Takuya unable to contain his astonishment.
After all, Guy was only nine years old, while he was already eighteen. Guy was half his age and yet surpassed him in strength by such a margin.
"Focus; it's coming," Chen-sensei reminded him.
Kawai Takuya immediately cleared his mind of distractions and continued to watch Guy intently.
"Konoha Dragon God!"
With a roar, Guy unleashed his powerful Chakra, kicked out a leg, and then spun around violently.
Whoosh!!
Soon, a greenish-blue dragon appeared in the training ground.
The dragon sucked everything around it into its vicinity, shredding them with its powerful winds and leaving the area in chaos.
Looking at the greenish-blue dragon, Kawai Takuya felt somewhat mesmerized; this was the powerful Taijutsu he aspired to achieve.
Chen-sensei patted Kawai Takuya on the shoulder and then left.
He had done all he could to teach; now it was up to Kawai Takuya himself.
After experiencing Guy's strength, Ebisu and Genma also felt motivated to train and went off to practice.
"Guy, how do you usually train?" Kawai Takuya couldn't help but ask.
"I wake up early at six for morning practice, run until I'm exhausted, then have breakfast. After that, I train my body for the entire morning, and at noon…" Guy seriously detailed his schedule.
Kawai Takuya was stunned. He had thought he was working hard enough; after all, it was difficult for a Ninja who only relied on Taijutsu to get by, and he needed to put in more effort.
However, after comparing himself to Guy, Kawai Takuya realized that Guy was even more hardworking than he was, with a training volume that exceeded his own.
"Is it like this every day?"
"Not exactly; I can't train like this during the Chunin exams, and sometimes if I get injured, I'll have to reduce my training volume," Guy continued to explain.
Kawai Takuya fell silent. He felt that Guy's strength was truly flawless; he was incredibly hardworking, even reducing his training when injured rather than skipping it altogether.
"Ninjas like us who lack talent in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu must work even harder to catch up to those geniuses!" Guy smiled, showing his two rows of white teeth.
"Actually, you're already a genius," Kawai Takuya remarked with admiration.
"Yeah, Yumi-sensei says the same thing; he calls me a hardworking genius," Guy's smile grew even brighter.
Kawai Takuya nodded in agreement; it was indeed true—Guy was a genius through hard work.
"I firmly believe that even if one only knows Taijutsu, they can still reach the pinnacle of the ninja realm," Guy said resolutely.
"A long time ago, there was a powerful individual who only knew Taijutsu and trained himself in eight harsh environments, eventually creating a powerful Taijutsu known as Eight Extremes Heavens. I believe that as long as we are willing to work hard, one day we will achieve something like that!"
Guy shared the story of Eight Extremes Heavens and Milong II.
Kawai Takuya was deeply impressed by the story.
Before this, Kawai Takuya didn't have any grand aspirations; he just wanted to master Konoha Dragon God and become an excellent Taijutsu Ninja.
Now he felt that he could set his sights a bit higher. With the achievements of his predecessors in mind and Guy mastering Konoha Dragon God at just nine years old, how could he think of himself as inadequate?
"I not only want to learn sensei's Konoha Dragon God, but I also want to create my own advanced Taijutsu!" Kawai Takuya thought excitedly.
"Guy, let's work hard together!" Kawai Takuya said, looking at Guy with gratitude.
"Youth is all about working hard together," Guy laughed and gave a thumbs up.
"By the way, when it comes to training, I recommend this green bodysuit I'm wearing; it's perfect for exercising."
...
After finishing his training, Mutsuki headed home towards the main city. As he got closer, he activated his Byakugan to scan the surroundings.
Mutsuki didn't spot any Root or ANBU Ninja, but he noticed that there was an extra scroll on the table at home.
He returned home with an unchanged expression, confirming that the scroll was safe before opening it.
"Training for Root Ninja…" After quickly scanning the contents, Mutsuki showed a thoughtful expression.
He wasn't contemplating whether to go or not; rather, he was considering how to teach—whether to turn off his skills or teach normally.
Of course, he had to go. With his current strength, he wasn't afraid of Danzo, but he still needed to stay in Konoha and keep things stable with Danzo to avoid many worries.
Moreover, Mutsuki was thinking about what benefits this training could bring him.
The tangible benefits were easy to envision. If he really helped Danzo succeed, his status within Root would surely rise, leading to some Ninjutsu rewards. Danzo has a significant amount of authority in Konoha, and rewarding Ninjutsu is essentially a no-cost transaction for him.
Mutsuki was thinking about the system rewards; would teaching these stronger Ninjas make it easier to gain higher evaluations?
