As the towering figure stepped onto Shanghai Beach, the tourists once again let out terrified screams. The resurrected Savage Wolf no longer possessed his previously high-tech metal armor. Instead, his skin had turned dark gray, with muscles stripped from his head, half of his face's bones exposed, emitting a strong aura of decay and coldness, with dense black fumes flowing from his eyes.
As he walked past, the sand beneath his feet gradually eroded, turning black as if melted by fire. All the plants on the beach began to wither, covering an area of over a thousand meters. From the ocean behind him, dead fish continuously floated to the surface. Wuyun cloaked the sky, with the chilling wind howling.
The roar of armed helicopter engines resounded from the horizon. But the helicopter pilot took just one distant glance before grabbing the intercom, saying, "We need support, we need support! That monster from before has been resurrected, quickly contact Mr. President!"
Not far from the beach, the police were working hard to evacuate the crowd. Looking at the massive figure drawing nearer, they were terrified too, their legs trembling, but dared not abandon their posts, only wielding batons to drive the crowd away, urging them to leave quickly.
The soldiers' vehicles quickly arrived but received orders to hold their position, prohibited from approaching. They huddled behind cover, nervously exchanging information. Meanwhile, the monitoring vehicle equipment was emitting piercing alarms, indicating that nearly all harmful elements' values were off the charts.
As the Justice League made their entrance, everyone's gaze focused on them. Each person looked at them with anticipation, but the expressions on the few members were heavy.
The brutal scene of battling Savage Wolf was still vivid in their minds. This top enemy since the Justice League's formation, despite having died not long ago, reappearing on Earth was truly despair-inducing.
Yet even so, they still had to fight, because in the face of such a formidable enemy, Earth had no room to retreat. Diana took a deep breath, drew her Fire God Sword, and rushed toward Savage Wolf.
The closer she got to Savage Wolf, the thicker the aura of decay became. Diana almost couldn't catch her breath. Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at her arm, noticing that the corpse spots, previously suppressed by magic power and not having spread for a long time, had resurfaced.
Her heart sank to the bottom. She was still being corroded by the power of death, possibly someday turning into such a monster, turning against her comrades.
No, absolutely not! Diana gritted her teeth, thrusting her sword toward Savage Wolf. But as she got close to him, the temperature had dropped so low it made her shiver. It wasn't ordinary cold, but a soul-level extreme chill, freezing her vitality.
Her sword hadn't even pierced Savage Wolf's skin, and her whole body was already becoming rigid, decaying, trembling all over.
Ron was the first to notice Diana's anomaly, her brainwaves were very abnormal. He hurriedly turned his head to Barry, "Barry, quickly bring her back!"
Barry immediately disappeared. In the world filled with blue divine speed, everything was peaceful and tranquil. But this only lasted until Barry approached Savage Wolf.
The entire divine speed world seemed scalded with a hole, with some cold material invading. Starting from a small black spot, it expanded into a human-sized hole. Barry took a few fearful steps back, not daring to approach.
But seeing Diana, he mustered up courage again, gritting his teeth and continuing to run in that direction. As he neared the black hole, he felt like a bug caught by a massive gravitational whirlpool, about to be pulled into a deep, dark domain.
Barry trembled, but he didn't want to give up on his companion. He let out a low roar, breaking free at the fastest speed, grabbed Diana, and with a "whoosh," disappeared.
When they appeared, their hair and eyebrows were frosted over, standing still while gasping for breath. Hal immediately said, "Don't go over there."
Everyone had already seen it, this power was extremely extreme: either you suppress him, or he suppresses you. Those unable to suppress him couldn't even get close. Like Diana and Barry, their divine power and divine speed force were easily penetrated by the power of death. Once suppressed, a person would quickly collapse.
Diana's skin had already lost its color, with purplish-red corpse spots spreading to her face, making her look like a lifeless corpse. This frightened Barry.
"You... you're okay, ma'am?" Barry stuttered. Although Diana clearly didn't look okay, she waved her hand.
"Barry, your hand!" Diana exclaimed. Barry looked down, finding his hand's skin also starting to lose color, turning that ghastly pale of a corpse, with muscles gradually losing elasticity, just like Diana's earlier decay.
He remembered, when he brought Diana back, it was this hand he used to grab her shoulder. Could this thing be contagious?!
"It's not contagious," Diana seemed to guess what he was thinking, explaining, "This hand reached out of divine speed and got too close to Savage Wolf, that's why it's contaminated."
Barry clenched his fist, not feeling any abnormality in movement. But because of this, it seemed more eerie, and for a while, he didn't dare to move.
At this time, Hal already flew near Savage Wolf. He was extremely cautious, the green lantern energy enveloping him completely, layered protectively. He knew he was among the first to be corroded, if the symptoms worsened, he might completely lose combat ability, needing to be sufficiently vigilant.
He took a deep breath and punched toward Savage Wolf. The good news was, he wasn't suppressed; the bad news was, Savage Wolf was fine too.
Savage Wolf looked at him with those eyes that had become completely dark, a sinister smile appearing on his decaying face, making it even more terrifying. He grabbed Hal's arm and threw him out, and where he touched him felt like needles piercing, with quite a bit of the Power of Death penetrating the barrier of Green Lantern energy, reaching him directly.
Hal took a light breath, realizing that close combat was absolutely impossible. He immediately condensed a shot of Green Lantern Energy Cannonball in front of him, blasting it at Savage Wolf, causing the entire ground to shake.
Savage Wolf was pushed back a few steps. Arthur seized this moment, raised his Trident high, roaring like Moses parting the sea. The seawater surged like the tentacles of a giant octopus, sweeping toward Savage Wolf, grabbing him to pull him into the sea.
Savage Wolf struggled vigorously, the cold air of death spreading, freezing the seawater into ice pillars. Arthur struck down hard with the Trident again, more seawater shot up into the sky, forming countless tornadoes at the coast, sweeping toward Savage Wolf overwhelmingly.
In an instant, Savage Wolf was submerged by the seawater. Arthur hurriedly activated the Power of Life Evolution, but this time it only weakened the thin layer of strength around him, not managing to suppress it.
Savage Wolf's speed was fast, almost in the blink of an eye, he attacked in front of Hal. A huge fist slammed into Hal's chest, and before Hal could dodge, he was heavily smashed into the ground, the Green Lantern Shield nearly shattered.
Blue lightning flashed again, Barry pulled Hal aside, preventing him from being hit by Savage Wolf's final strike, but both were sent flying by the Quicksilver.
To cover the retreat for the two, Victor's eyes glowed brightly. The Mother Box modification mode was activated, and a deep pit appeared on the beach, transferring Savage Wolf and almost all the material under him hundreds of meters away. Just that instant, Victor directly fell from the air.
Ron hurried forward to catch him. Victor panted heavily, saying, "He's different from Amanda, his numbers are too high..."
Victor had previously started the modification mode to check all sorts of data on Amanda, though he couldn't understand them, he knew roughly how high the numbers should be. Savage Wolf's data was not just several times over Amanda's, they were growing exponentially.
This resulted in the originally easily modifiable Mother Box requiring much more power, and was very unstable. Victor didn't even mean to create a pit, but the one that appeared on the beach was at least a thousand meters deep.
"It's not working," Victor said, "I can't do this, if things keep going this way, the Mother Box's power will get out of control."
He said somewhat regretfully, "It's not the Mother Box's problem, it's mine. My form of life doesn't support me to make changes on the cosmic rules level, it's too hard."
Then he paused and said, "I understand now, I have strength but no status. The cosmic system is rejecting my tampering, I don't have admin rights, forcefully changing might cause program errors."
"Then stop modifying," Ron quickly said, "even if Savage Wolf is hard to deal with, he's a tangible enemy. If you crash the cosmic system, we're all doomed."
"No worries, as long as I don't touch the power limits, it's fine. What I did just now was too forced, I should have modified fewer things."
Ron couldn't care about him anymore because Savage Wolf once again charged at Hal. Although unsure if this guy still had rationality, he clearly knew who posed the greatest threat to him. He ignored Arthur and Barry entirely, targeting Hal alone.
Hal's Green Lantern energy was visibly depleting rapidly. Diana, noticing something was wrong, said to Barry, "Quick, Barry, run to headquarters and recharge Hal!"
"I can't," Barry said, "I need to help him move, Savage Wolf is too fast!"
After saying so, he once again turned into blue lightning, taking Hal along to dodge Savage Wolf's rushed punch. Hal held in hand a Longsword condensed from Green Lantern energy, turned back and thrust, successfully stabbing into Savage Wolf's chest.
But perhaps the condensed Green Lantern energy wasn't enough, the Power of Death swiftly engulfed it. With a "crack" sound, the sword shattered. The wound on Savage Wolf's chest quickly healed.
"Damn it!" Hal cursed.
Just then, a red and blue figure came in from afar, crashing onto Savage Wolf like a cannonball. With a "boom", Savage Wolf was slammed onto the ground beside him. Clark delivered a punch to his bloodied face, just one punch, and the exposed half of the bone shattered to pieces.
Still unsatisfied, Clark continued with punches, almost smashing Savage Wolf's skull to pieces. In the moment he flew up, his eyes charged, high-energy laser at close range "zizz" pierced through Savage Wolf's head.
The members of the Justice League were stunned. Last time, it was Batman who finished Savage Wolf instantly; this time it's Superman, right?
But evidently, the revived Savage Wolf was stronger. He staggered to his feet; despite his head forever left on the beach, the headless body could still continue to move. The aura of decay around him was even stronger. Suddenly, a flash of black light.
"Watch out!!!" Diana shouted.
