Chapter 4829 - Chapter 3898: Nameless Bat (31)

"I think we should take a break." Natasha texted Shiller on her phone, "We've completed too many projects sent by Batman that aren't included in our paycheck. We're even close to deducing the culprit for him. Don't you feel we need some administrative leave?"

"Not interested." Shiller replied.

"What are you doing?"

"Browsing the internet."

"Knowing there's possibly an electronic life causing mischief from behind the scenes? Maybe it's watching you through the camera."

"It's useless. I'm quite sure this cosmos doesn't have iris recognition technology. Batman hasn't invented it. So what if it sees me?"

Natasha quickly typed on her phone, "He'll know what you look like. Maybe he'll even post your full face publicly."

"You know that the identity of a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent is public, right? I'm not a spy, I'm a police officer."

"You're incredibly boring." Natasha typed with a sigh, "This meeting is also incredibly dull. They invited me here just because I was suspected of being the president's lover. They might be hoping I'll convey their enthusiasm for work to the president."

"You could pretend to sleep." Shiller's reply was as straightforward as ever. Natasha could imagine his tone through the text.

"Forget it, I need something to perk me up." Natasha sat at the table, tapping on her phone keyboard, "The headquarters' coffee is atrocious. I suspect they've condensed the essence of Washington's sewers into the coffee machine."

"I'm checking the Federal Bureau of Investigation's internal archives."

Upon reading this, Natasha sat up straight, thinking he had found a clue about the behind-the-scenes manipulator. Yet Shiller sent another message: "Last year, there were 11,253 reports related to underground water pollution in Washington. Definitely concentrated enough."

Natasha slightly pushed the cup of coffee in front of her further away.

She glanced up, and the head of the CIA was still prattling on. Natasha half-listened and then typed, "They mentioned a sense of crisis."

"A sense of crisis? About Amazon?"

"No. They feel the president relies too heavily on the Justice League, handing over too many tasks originally meant for them."

"Then it's the FBI that should have a sense of crisis. Your group is the only one in the entire CIA with the authority to enforce domestic law."

"Yes. But it seems our boss wants me to persuade the president to broadly grant this authority to the CIA. Judging by his look, he hopes the persuasion happens in bed."

"Batman wouldn't do that." Shiller typed so quickly that Natasha realized he was using a computer.

"Of course. Since I'm an otherworld visitor and can't stay here forever, I can have such privileges. Batman wouldn't grant such permission to locals. Oh, except for you."

"Not at all." Shiller first replied, then sent another message, "I applied to him for usage rights to the Brother Eye, and he refused."

"You really dared to apply." Natasha couldn't help but click her tongue.

"Entirely out of duty. After he refused my application, I suggested completely sealing off this system to ensure the evil electronic life has no opportunity."

"Did he agree?"

"He hasn't replied yet. I'm not sure if he's avoiding the issue or if he has plans tailored to this."

"Do you think Batman has thought of electronic life?"

"I said Batman realizes everything sooner than we imagine. Otherwise, what did he discuss privately with Luther? What did he have the Arkham Knight do?"

"We really should go on vacation, shouldn't we?" Natasha crossed her legs and typed on her phone, "In this regard, I agree with Greed. As long as we don't work, Batman will do all our work."

After pausing for a moment, she typed another line: "If it's administrative leave, where do you plan to go?"

"What?"

"Where do you plan to go on vacation?"

"What's wrong with home?"

"Jesus Christ! You're planning to spend two months at home instead of traveling?"

"Aren't you?"

"Of course not. Although I know it doesn't fit the stereotype, even the Black Widow has vacations. When I was in the Soviet Union, I would choose to stay in Anapa for two weeks. But in America, that damned Nick doesn't give me too long, so I go to Long Island."

"Miss Tony Stark?"

"Come on. I really don't know how a place with so many hot guys could produce a Tony Stark. Don't change the topic, where do you usually go?"

"Hawaii."

"I knew it! You live like the protagonist from a 90s Hollywood spy movie. At the start of every film, you'd receive a call from your superior while lounging on a deck chair in Hawaii, get involved in a huge international criminal case, get chased by assassins on your way back, and then bump into a scorching hot blonde..."

"You've watched a lot." Shiller replied, "I feel like I've watched all of '007' through your words. Thanks for saving me the movie ticket money."

Seeing Shiller's dry response, Natasha sighed deeply. She said, "Let me teach you, boy. The correct reply at this moment is 'Too bad you're a redhead.' Got it?"

"No. Nothing bad about it. You'd look ugly as a blonde."

Natasha face-planted onto the table.

She looked up again at the superior officer who showed no signs of stopping his talk and had no choice but to shift her target, beginning to text Arkham Batman.
