The ship creaked under the night.

Haru stood alone, gripping a flintlock in one hand and a sword in the other.

The final part was beginning but his heart was steady. He knows what had to be done, to complete his task even if there was danger of death.

Because this was what he chose it himself.

'It's coming…'

Under the light of lanterns, the sea was rippling.

A thick, monstrous tentacle slammed onto the deck, smashing barrels and crates.

A second one followed, and a third, and a fourth…

'They're not stopping… but it doesn't matter. I just have to buy enough time for them.'

Haru clenched tight on his weapons, stepping back.

The tentacles thrashed wildly, slamming down in heavy, random strikes as if searching for the humans—their food.

They couldn't see through the tentacles. But they didn't need to. All they had to do was tear the ship apart piece by piece until there was nowhere left to hide.

Fortunately, they weren't strong enough to break apart the huge ship easily.
