Lucas arches a brow. "Yes, my lady?"
I roll my eyes. "Don't call me that."
"But you are my lady." Lucas grins.
I sigh. That doesn't deserve a response.
...Though it's a shameless lie anyway.
I'm not sure I'll ever get used to how easily Lucas can say that. Or how happy it makes me.
I'm not quite so foolish that I'd be embarrassed by the emotion. Not anymore. But it's still something I'm getting used to, and that's fine.
I'm absolutely not admitting it out loud.
He'd be insufferable about it.
"Well." I clear my throat. "Since May's given out so many gifts...I have one of my own."
"Oh?" Lucas' eyebrows rise. "Really?"
He doesn't look surprised at all.
"Yes. Yes, really."
I dig around in the bag of presents and pull out the wrapped necklace that May and I picked out for him. "Here."
I hand it to him.
It's obviously cheap and fake.
But if he wants the real thing he can go out and pay himself. I'm sure he has enough money for it.
