Chapter 5 - Da Argument

His mom decided to check up on them the following day and found nothing and no one in their apartment. She was surprised and returned to her place to inform Adam's dad about it.

She and the father went to the apartment to verify and found nothing and no one there.

The father said to the mom, "Don't worry about them because Adam is a grown man and he can make his own decisions, so allow them to wallow."

The mom wasn't okay with this, so she called Adam's siblings to inform them about what happened. They persuaded her to relax her mind because Adam was a grown man.

After a while, she called Adam, and he picked up the call.

"Hello, good morning, ma," Adam said.

The mom replied, "Good morning, how are you?"

Adam: "I'm fine, ma."

Mom: "Where are you and what happened?"

Adam: "I moved to a new place."

Mom: "And you decided not to inform anyone?"

Adam: "Sorry, ma'am, but yes."

Mom: "Even me?"

Adam: "Yes, ma."

Mom: "So, you've finally chosen your wife over everyone, and you think we are not important anymore, right? I know what I've been through because of you, and even when you were in a critical condition, I made sure we still looked out for you. I persuaded your dad to provide the apartment for you so you could return home until you got better, just to make sure things were easier for you. But you decided to leave without informing us—not even me?! Do you still remember I'm your mother and your dad is still alive? Mina is trying to turn you into a goofy rat with her bad attitude, right? I detest it whenever someone refuses to make corrections, accept fault, amend their ways, and adjust. Mina is rude, arrogant, and proud, which is the problem she has with everyone. I've spoken to her several times as a mother, but she refuses to change. Do you think we should continue with this, whether you believe she's right or not? Can you really continue with a woman who always thinks and feels she is right all the time?!"

Adam: "Sorry, ma. I have a lot to say regarding everything, but I want to take my time to choose the right words and ways to present them to you and Dad. For now, I am truly sorry about everything and for my behaviour."

A newborn baby started crying in the background, and his mom heard the noise through the phone. She asked, "Whose baby is crying?"

Adam replied, "Mine, ma. Mina just delivered last night."

Mom: "Like seriously?! And you didn't care to call and tell me until now? Wow, I'm so disappointed in you. So you can really do this to me?!"

Adam: "Mom, I understand you are hurt right now, but please, can you take a breath and relax so we can sort it out later amicably?"

Mom: "Do not ever mention 'amicably' to me because you don't know the meaning! And if you do, then you're missing it! Give Mina the phone!"

Adam: "Okay, ma." So he handed the phone to Mina.

Mom: "Mina! Mina! Mina!"

Mina: "Yes, ma. Good morning."

Mom: "I mentioned your name three times, and you won't dare welcome the other side of me because I have tolerated and taken more than enough from you. Adam is my first child, and I adore him so much, which is one of the reasons I love you. But do not push me to a point where I wouldn't take it. You've given birth to a baby, and you didn't inform me about it. Have you called your mom to tell her?"

Mina: "No, ma."

Mom: "Good! Where are you guys right now?"

Mina: "At Fuchsia Estate, ma."

Mom: "Send me the address."

Mina: "Okay, ma."

So Adam's mom ended the call.

Mina was furious but composed herself and typed the address, then forwarded it to her.

Mina: "Why didn't you tell them we were moving out? Now all the blame is on me, and that's not fair. You should have informed Mom about it."

Adam: "What if our children do this to us? You better be careful with them! Don't let their anger prevail on us, and find a way to address this issue before it gets out of control. You know Mom doesn't care if you've grown up or not; she can mess you up anywhere, and there's nothing you can do about it. So, make sure you put things right with her before she comes."

Adam: "You ladies are something else for real."

Mina: "Yes, we are. You can just see that through me and your mom."

Adam: "Keep your mouth shut! You used to say all kinds of things before we moved out of the family house and how you detest the idea of living there. Now you are passing the blame onto me! Do you think we would be here if I had let them know about our move? Mom would have never allowed us to move in here if she knew about it. I know what I did, and fear not; she's my mom, and I know exactly how to relate to her. Give me the phone so I can send her some messages, then you can call her in an hour and apologize."

Mina: "I'm nervous about calling her, but I will try."

Adams: "Better."

Adams's mom had just learned about the baby from Adams's dad, and she was really angry about it.

The dad tried to calm her down, saying, "You know how your son can be sometimes. I think we should give him some space to gather himself. Adams isn't in a good state of mind right now; he needs time. We should let him do what he thinks is best for him.

I advise you not to overreact or get angry at either of them. Mina is still a young lady who needs to grow at her own pace, so be easy on her, too.

Adams needs space to learn some important lessons about life. Our watchful eyes might not give him that chance to experience those things.

Experiences are key teachers that can significantly impact someone and foster positive changes in behaviour. He needs that, so let's allow him the space to figure things out.

Relax your mind, and don't hurt yourself worrying about a grown man; he will soon understand everything he needs to.

Just play your role as a mother to both of them and try not to react to their mistakes. Your reactions might turn you into something you don't wish or hope to be."

Just then, Mina's call came through to Adams's mom while she was still in conversation with the dad.

Mina: "Hello, Mama. I'm so sorry about everything; please forgive us."

The dad listened attentively and signalled to the mom to respond calmly. She did just that.

Mom: "Hello, Mina. It's okay. Don't worry; we will see you both soon, and you and I will talk more. Honestly, I have forgiven you both.

So, what name are you planning to give the baby?"

Mina: "We have a name in mind, but I would prefer you to name the child."

Mom: (laughs) "So you think I should name the baby?"

Mina: "I would be very happy if you did, ma."

Mom: "Alright, I will think of a name. Until we meet, I will let you know."

They both ended the call happily, and that was how they reconciled with each other.
