So far, the little girl had only thrown out a shoe; she herself hadn't appeared.
Perhaps she saw the game Gu Mian was playing with the other children earlier and excitedly hid herself. It couldn't be that she dropped it while fleeing. Maybe she wanted to play a game with him too? Hide-and-seek?

He was fairly good at this, having recently been through an instance somewhat related to hide-and-seek.
As Gu Mian was deep in thought, a child's giggling suddenly echoed from downstairs.
It was the little girl's voice, sounding rather creepy.
Usually, when such a sound appeared in an instance, players' first reaction would be to "RUN!"
Gu Mian, of course, had the same reaction.
Holding the little red leather shoe, he sprinted towards the source of the sound, afraid she would get away if he were too slow.
Carrying the shoe, Gu Mian rushed down the stairs, arriving on the fourth floor.
