At today's court assembly, the Minister of Rites, Guo Jingzhi, suggested that Wei Shu should expand the inner palace before the full council of ministers and military officials.
Wei Shu deflected, citing that it had been less than a year since the passing of the Empress Dowager, but the newly appointed Minister of Rites argued with scholarly references and provided various reasons.
The gist was that the inner palace is empty, Your Majesty's offspring aren't flourishing, and the future of Yue Country hinges on Your Majesty's descendants. Therefore, prioritizing state affairs, surely the Empress Dowager would understand.
Wei Shu further claimed his health was poor, and he didn't wish to delay promising young ladies.
Guo Jingzhi countered that the fate of the nation is everyone's responsibility, even for a single woman, who has a duty to contribute to the rise and fall of Yue Country.
