Umibozu—a terrifying creature from Japanese folklore that haunts the seas and fishermen.

Described as a mythical monster with powers beyond imagination, capable of sinking ships with a mere wave of its arm.

Yuji knew the legend. He even recalled reading about the creature as a curse exterminated by the Generals of the Void.

But it seemed…

Bam!

…it had been reborn after millennia.

As the curse's body rose from the ground behind a smug Kenjaku, its grotesque form was revealed. Standing over 3 meters tall, its arms were abnormally long, fingers dragging against the floor, its proportions distorted even for its unnatural height. Its pitch-black skin had an eerie texture, as if molded from living seaweed.

But those weren't its most disturbing traits. Its face, covered in the writhing, shifting texture, bore only two hollow pits where eyes should be—ghostly white light glowing from within.

A light that unsettled Itadori, making him avoid its "gaze."

'I've been fighting a lot of ocean-themed curses lately,' he mused, exhaling sharply as he braced against this new foe.

Without knowing its abilities, he hesitated to charge in. Normally, he wouldn't fear an unknown enemy, but this was Kenjaku's trump card. The last thing he could afford was recklessness.

He had to be cautious—and strike decisively when the moment came.

Itadori knew this was a one-time chance. If Kenjaku escaped this battle, he'd vanish like a rat. And by the time he resurfaced, Itadori might not even be alive to stop him.

His descendants might be strong, but he refused to burden them with this fight.

He'd end it himself.

No matter the cost.

!

Itadori stepped back as the curse's glowing eyes locked onto him. Kenjaku crossed his arms, content to spectate.

"You wanna see who's holding the better cards?" Yuji grinned, fists tightening as he shifted into an offensive stance. "Fine by me. Show me what you've got."

Kenjaku smirked. That was the spirit of a Jujutsu sorcerer. "As you wish, sorcerer."

With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed the curse—which exploded toward Itadori like a bullet.

'Fast!' Itadori barely dodged the slash of its clawed hand, reappearing behind it in a blur. 'But not fast enough.'

His fist blazed with cursed energy as he drove it toward the curse's back—

Pfft!

"?!" Yet the moment his punch should've connected, the curse melted into the ground, his fist striking empty air. The floor rippled like water before solidifying again.

'Like the catfish curse!' He glared at Kenjaku, who watched with detached interest. 'But there's no illusion—so it can't manifest an incomplete domain to trap others.'

His muscles tensed. 'If that's the case, I can fight both without fear of being trapped.'

!

Just as he prepared to lunge, his eyes widened as enormous fingers coiled around his leg—the ground softening beneath him.

'Shit—!' He raised a hand to slash, but a brutal yank dragged him under in an instant.

Pfft!

The sound of water echoed, followed by deafening silence.

"..." Kenjaku observed the now-solid ground, nodding approvingly. "That was quick."

"...I expected more resistance." He shrugged mockingly, tongue lolling. "Oh well."

. . .

Meanwhile, with Itadori—

The moment he was pulled under, his mouth clamped shut as an inky, watery darkness swallowed him whole. His eyes strained to adjust, but only endless blackness surrounded him.

He forced himself not to inhale, unsure what this "water" even was. His arms moved instinctively, treading the abyss. So far, it felt no different than drowning in a lake.

But if his enemy brought him here, there had to be a catch. Maybe the curse grew stronger underwater? Plausible—but he'd have to test it.

And his opponent seemed eager to answer.

!

Itadori whirled around as the water stirred behind him, eyes useless in the dark. 'Playing hide-and-seek now?'

Realizing the darkness only made him a sitting duck, he shut his eyes. His chest burned as his body temperature skyrocketed—boiling the liquid around him.

But that wasn't his goal. After a few seconds of intense heat, his body glowed, illuminating the void.

And when his vision cleared—

!

—he found those same glowing eyes staring back… but now on a monstrous scale.

The curse loomed over 40 meters tall, its colossal hand swatting Itadori like a bug, sending him crashing deeper into the abyss.

'It dragged me here just to grow giant?' Itadori spat blood, steadying himself. 'Huh?'

Then he noticed something odd.

'I'm not out of breath. And my eyes aren't straining from the pressure.' He blinked. 'Unless…'

Testing a theory, he opened his mouth—inhaling the water deliberately.

No choking. No discomfort. Nothing.

'Hell yeah.' He grinned, realization dawning. 'The serpent curse. I forgot—I stole its powers when Amaroq devoured it.'

His earlier worry—oxygen—was irrelevant now. He could fight indefinitely.

'Bad luck, Kenjaku.'

His smile widened as he locked onto the curse's massive white "eyes" in the distance.

'Turns out…

I'm the one holding the best cards.'

The curse swung again, its palm slamming toward him with even greater force—

Boom!

Itadori's fist met it head-on, the impact cratering the curse's hand and sending Itadori skidding back.

The curse didn't flinch, but its glowing eyes flickered in surprise as its flesh charred.

"How's that taste, seaweed-head?!" Itadori's voice was garbled underwater, but the curse heard him—just before his other fist exploded toward its face.

Swoosh!

Itadori weaved past another swipe, then propelled himself like a torpedo toward the curse's head.

But Umibozu wasn't surprised. Its eyes blazed—light concentrating into twin spotlights that pinned Itadori in place.

!

Instantly, his mind flooded with screams. Drowned corpses materialized around him, their hollow eyes accusing. A migraine split his skull—visions of despair threatening to shatter his sanity.

'Mental assault? Paralysis?' He gritted his teeth. 'The environment's amplifying its techniques…'

This wasn't just about size. The curse's incomplete domain enhanced everything.

And the pain kept growing—

But Itadori wouldn't break.

The curse raised its hand for the killing blow… only to pause as the water around Itadori trembled.

After all…

He'd devoured the Leviathan.

Bam!

A shockwave caved in the curse's chest, its light flickering as Itadori broke free. The colossal curse was sent reeling, arms flailing to stop its momentum.

Blood trickled from Itadori's nose, but his grin was feral. The mental attack had drained him, but now—

'I finally get how the serpent's powers work.'

He raised his hand, and the water obeyed, swirling around his fingers like a loyal hound.

'This thing's already in my palm.'

With the Leviathan's authority over the depths, Itadori was no longer the challenger in this hostile realm.

He was the ruler.

And this cursed fool would learn that the hard way.

It was time to show this overgrown seaweed exactly who he was.

The Demon God feared no one.
