Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: False hope

Good news?

Harry was not aware of anything due to his confinement in Azkaban. As such, he was eager to know.

Voldemort spoke. "Apart from myself, there is only one person in this world who truly cares for you."

His Godfather.

He was the only person who appeared in Harry's mind. The next words from Voldemort confirmed his thought.

"Sirius Black," Voldemort paused a little upon seeing an emotion on Harry's face for the first time today. "Seeing how you were able to see the truth and join my side, I approached him, and guess what? After explaining everything to him and faced with the undeniable truths I revealed to him... truths about your suffering, about how Dumbledore has used you as a pawn, and even about the role he played in your parents' demise... he saw the reality. He began to realize how he was also played by Dumbledore as the scapegoat for the deaths of James Potter and Lily Evans Potter. He began to ask himself why Dumbledore never tried to prove his innocence during all those years. So, the good news is that your Godfather, Sirius Black, decided to leave the Order of the Phoenix, and on my recommendation, he went to France."

For the first time in months, a glimmer of something that could almost be called hope flickered in Harry's hardened heart.

"Thank you, my Lord," Harry said, and he lowered his head slightly. "You've given me more than I could have ever imagined."

"You have earned it, my child," Voldemort continued. "But you must be patient. There is much work to be done before you can reunite with Sirius. I have tasks for you. Once these are done, I will send you to him so that the two of you can spend time."

Harry nodded, prepared to do anything his master asked him.

What the boy did not know was that all this was a big lie, a manipulation to turn him from a simple dark wizard into a murderous, merciless wizard who would spread chaos everywhere he went.

Sirius Black was indeed in France, but the latter was captured and given to Barty Crouch Jr. to plan for the day between his and Harry's reunion. Voldemort felt a rush of excitement just thinking about that day, but stopped his thoughts and addressed the rest of his Death Eaters that had gathered here.

"My loyal servants," Voldemort began.

"Tonight marks the beginning of a new era. An era where power, purity, and supremacy will reign once more. The Ministry, the Order, and Dumbledore himself... these pathetic obstacles in this decaying world will crumble beneath our might. I'm sure many of you are wondering about Harry.

Harry, the boy who survived, the one who defied me, has seen the truth. He has finally come to understand that his so-called allies are nothing but puppeteers pulling at the strings of his life, using him as a pawn in their games. But now, he is with us... His true path revealed. The boy has joined us, and I am proud to say that he bears the Mark of a Death Eater, just as loyal as any of you."

As if to confirm the words of his master, Harry raised his hand to show clearly to everyone the dark mark on his left arm. The Death Eaters fell silent as they all took in the sight.

The mark of the Dark Lord's most devoted, now proudly worn by the Boy Who Lived.

Bellatrix rushed toward Harry, grabbed his hand, and pressed her finger on his arm.

"I trust you all understand what this means," Voldemort continued. "Harry Potter is now one of us, a loyal servant to me. But you must keep this a secret, do you hear me?" His eyes flared, daring anyone to question him.

"Not a word. Not even among yourselves. Amelia here will explain it to the rest of you. And oh, I almost forgot to introduce another Death Eater. Amelia Bones. Never mind, I don't have time for this. After Amelia discusses it with you, the rest of you are free to go and kill some muggles. I will call you later on."

The Death Eaters who were in Azkaban for so long did not have any idea of what was going on in the outside world. But the thing they knew firsthand was that Amelia Bones was a very strict Auror. Many of them had personally fought against her, and she was the one who imprisoned them in Azkaban. While the notion of Harry turning into a Death Eater was difficult to comprehend, the Death Eaters, including Bellatrix, found it close to impossible just imagining Amelia Bones as a Death Eater.

And yet, right now, in front of them, they saw how Amelia Bones was following all the commands issued by Voldemort.

This made them realize one thing.

The Voldemort in front of them was not the same Lord who had died around twenty years ago. For him to get both Amelia Bones and Harry Potter on his side meant that he was much more powerful and wittier.

First, Amelia took out a Mokeskin pouch and, from it, she started removing several wands. These were the wands that belonged to the Death Eaters who were imprisoned in Azkaban. All confiscated items belonging to a prisoner were kept at the Ministry of Magic, and being the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Amelia had access to them. As Amelia began briefing the Death Eaters, Voldemort told Harry that he was going somewhere else, so once Amelia was done, Harry would accompany her to stay at her house for the time being.

Harry wanted to argue, saying that he also wanted to eliminate some Muggles with the other Death Eaters, but he nodded and accepted Voldemort's decision.

Voldemort then turned to his wildest Death Eater. "Bella," he ordered. "Come to me."

"Yes, my Lord?" She stepped forward eagerly and asked. "What is your will?"

Without replying, Voldemort moved toward her, and before she could even fully register what was happening, Voldemort's arm snaked around her waist and settled low on her hip, pulling her to him. Voldemort guided his other hand and grabbed that of Bellatrix's, their fingers entwined.

With no time to process the event, Bellatrix found her surroundings distorting, and the next instant felt like being pulled into a tube.

Bellatrix had just been side-apparated with Voldemort, leaving the other Death Eaters at Azkaban.
