Chapter 167 - Chapter 167: Caroline

[3rd POV]

With the news that Caroline was going to be returning back to the Salvatore Boarding school for the first time in many months, Alaric had been in a panic. He knew that she was going to be back soon, and he knew for a fact that she would not be pleased with some of the things that he had been doing over the past months.

Things like changing classes, hiring new teachers and getting rid of old ones. As well as things like banning the use of human blood for the vampires, chaining the werewolves up in the basement on full moons, and dozens of other things that she was absolutely going to be furious over.

After all, he had not told her about these things at all. Meaning she was going to return only to find out that he had changed all sorts of things without informing her, the one who was the actual principal of the school. At least, the one that was in place before she had to leave to stop the merge.

But now that that was no longer an issue, she was free to return back to the school and take up her rightful position as the principal of the Salvatore Boarding school, a much needed change considering Alaric hadn't exactly been the best principal so far.

Rose and Hope were excited to see how the man would react once she got there in person. Especially once their families got there and began to really talk with Caroline about the problems that had been arising over the past few months thanks to Alaric's less than subpar teaching and management.

The two of them just hoped that Caroline would follow their parents advice and hire actual vampire and werewolf teachers, that way the kids could really learn from professionals, and not witches with little more than knowledge from books.

They wouldn't even be able to compare to true vampires and werewolves once they came to teach the students.

And hopefully she would also lift the stupid ban on human blood, as it was necessary for them to drink it. Animal blood simply was not enough for a vampire to survive on, at least not permanently. As the second the vampire drinks human blood after not touching it for literal years, they'll get addicted and become a ripper.

And nobody wanted a bunch of high schoolers to turn into rippers.

"When do you think our parents are going to get here?" Hope asked Rose as they both sat on the couch that had been set up in their room. They were sitting on the couch watching a movie, having nothing else to do for the day besides that.

Basically, they had been really bored.

"Probably tomorrow when Caroline arrives. I doubt they'll get here early as there is no point, and getting here late would give Alaric time to make excuses for the way he has been running the school. And that is the last thing our parents would want" Rose responded after a few moments of thought, making the logical conclusion.

"Good, I care for Alaric like an uncle, but he is not cut out for being a teacher or principal. He is genuinely awful at both" Hope replied, happy to hear her friend's conclusion about when their families would arrive.

She didn't want to wait too long, as that would likely cause quite a lot of drama if they arrived too late. Alaric was good at lying and hiding things, he had been doing it for a long time.

"Agreed. And if Caroline somehow doesn't see a reason to fire him, then my moms will step in and handle it. She's good at these sorts of things" Rose said, knowing that her mothers would take care of the problem if it continued for too long.

"Well...I guess now we just need to wait"

The next day had arrived without a fuss, and Caroline had finally arrived back in Mystic Falls, being only a few minutes away from the Salvatore Boarding School. Standing outside of the entrance of the school was Alaric, Lizzie, Josie, Hope, Rose, and a couple of the teachers that weren't teaching class at the moment.

They had all been standing there for a few minutes now, and were just waiting for her. But it would seem that they were not the only ones that were waiting, as a rift had soon appeared next to Rose and Hope.

Their faces lit up in realization of who this was, as out walked Lucifer, Alice, Klaus and Hayley. With the former two having a small smile on each of their faces, while Klaus was barely holding back his anger at Alaric, and Hayley was just silently glaring at the man.

Alaric could only sweat in nervousness as he realized that he was almost certainly screwed now that they were here. And not only that, but they were here right as Caroline pulled up to the school.

Stepping out of her car, Caroline looked at the front of the school with a bright smile as she saw her daughters standing there. They didn't even hesitate to move forward and wrap their mom in a tight hug, while Rose was moving closer to her parents.

"Are you going to tell her about the way Alaric has been running the school?" Rose asked, as Lucifer nodded.

"Mmhmm, we'll be taking care of it" Lucifer responded, silently watching the family reunite as they waited for Caroline to finish with that so that they could properly speak with her about the school and Alaric's teachings.

"Hmm? Oh wait, you're Lucifer and Alice, right? Alaric has told me all about you two!" Caroline said with a smile on her face, reaching her hand out as they both shook her hand one after the other.

"It's nice to meet you, Caroline. And yes, I'm Lucifer and this is my wife Alice, as well as my daughter Rose" Lucifer replied with a warm smile on her face.

"I don't wish to intrude on this meeting, Caroline, but we need to speak" Klaus cut in with a glare directed at Alaric. Caroline noticed the look and frowned.

"Speak about what?" Caroline questioned, as the four adults in the area all looked at one another.

"About the teaching methods of Alaric, and the changes that need to be brought about if you wish for us to continue to fund this school" Lucifer said, as the woman looked at her with even more confusion.

"Teaching methods of Alaric? What has he done?" Caroline asked, a sinking feeling forming in her gut as she glanced at Alaric who was visibly sweating. It was becoming increasingly obvious that the man had done something stupid, and that he had pissed off the four parents in front of her.

And they were quite literally the worst four parents that he possibly could have angered. For it was their funding that kept their school running, and it was thanks to Lucifer's money that they were capable of upgrading and improving the school so much over the past couple of months.

Looking back at the parents in front of her, Caroline let out a low sigh as she knew this was going to be a long, and probably very angering conversation. Not because of the parents, but because of whatever the hell Alaric did that pissed them off. So with that, she looked over the group, and spoke.

"...How about we go and speak somewhere....privately?"
