Sakuya Izayoi, dressed in a maid's uniform, looked undeniably adorable.
To match the outfit, Pandora had even redesigned her hairstyle: silver short hair with sideburns braided into two small plaits, each tied off with a green ribbon.
The blue-and-white maid uniform was trimmed with delicate lace, perfectly showing off the graceful curves of her thighs through black stockings, while beneath the skirt hid throwing knives, making Sakuya appear both charmingly cute and dangerously alluring.
Her cool expression and swift, precise movements radiated elegance and confidence unique to a woman.
The only thing that could be called a weakness was that regrettable chest of hers.
Looking at the head maid before her, Pandora's eyes lit up.
Even as someone who loved beauty and had seen countless forms of it, she couldn't help but admire this creation Alaric had designed.
However, there was still one thing that bothered her…
"Why did you prepare throwing knives as magical tools for the head maid?" Pandora eyed Alaric suspiciously. "If it's just maid work, they wouldn't be necessary, right?"
But the first to refute her wasn't Alaric, it was Sakuya herself.
"No, Lady Pandora, forgive my rudeness, but you have misunderstood the duties of a maid. Being a maid is far from such a simple profession."
"Is… is that so?" Pandora looked at her in confusion. "Then… what exactly are the duties of a maid?"
"As a maid, fulfilling all of the master's demands is the foremost priority. Household chores are only the foundation.
Beyond that, a competent maid must be capable of opening paths through mountains and building bridges over rivers for her master.
Reconnaissance, piloting, tracking, assassination, music, fine arts, painting, cooking… all skills the master might require must be mastered.
Any enemy threatening the master must be eliminated. Anything the master desires must be obtained.
Every desire of the master must be satisfied. That is the true meaning of a maid's existence."
Hearing this long declaration in one breath, Pandora noticed that Sakuya, who had been so cold-faced before, now had eyes burning with light.
It wasn't just any light, but the glow of faith, like that of a martyr who had given herself wholly to a belief.
Clearly, Miss Sakuya truly believed those words and pursued them as her life's mission.
However…
"How is that a maid!?" Pandora exclaimed. "Isn't that basically some kind of omnipotent warrior? No, even an omnipotent warrior couldn't do that much!"
"That is why being a maid is such a noble profession," Sakuya replied in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Forget it, forget it, I can't argue with you." Pandora shook her head, speechless.
"Pardon me." Sakuya bowed slightly, then departed naturally, the Moon Dial, a pocket watch crafted by Alaric to help her control her time powers and pause time itself, hanging at her waist.
Although the spirit maids could share consciousness, Sakuya still insisted on giving them verbal instructions.
As she put it, a maid must always keep a backup method at hand, and their mental link was only a precaution.
If an intruder attacked the castle without knowing about the maids' ability to communicate mentally, they would certainly pay a heavy price, such as believing that eliminating a single maid meant no one had seen them.
Alaric was satisfied with this approach.
Not only did it show prudence, but also, in such a vast castle, if every maid only communicated silently through thoughts, the place would feel like a haunted house, far too eerie.
As the "final creation" of the maid corps, Head Maid Sakuya adapted to her role effortlessly.
As the one holding the highest authority in the maid network, she naturally received respect and obedience from every spirit maid.
With her strong leadership, she quickly fell into her role, mastering the entire castle's affairs within a single day and arranging her subordinates in perfect order.
Thus, whether it was furnishing rooms, managing supplies, or other tasks, Alaric entrusted them to her.
Even things like preparing curtains and tablecloths were no exception.
Under Sakuya's direction, many of the spirit maids became seamstresses, dyers, and weavers.
Sakuya herself accompanied Pandora to different city-states across the divine realm to purchase raw materials.
Using the future weaving and embroidery techniques Alaric had engraved into their minds, they soon filled the castle with exquisite fabric works.
Alaric, meanwhile, had other work.
He was preparing the academy's books.
It was common knowledge that no magic academy could exist without a proper library.
Thus, Alaric drew on his vast knowledge, working day and night with the Copying Spell, transcribing every magic book and magical theory from his memory.
In his study, one could often see him seated at a massive desk, while more than a dozen quills scribbled across sheets of parchment, recording magical knowledge.
From charms and spells of the Harry Potter world, to the nine schools of magic in World of Warcraft, to his insights into magecraft from the Typemoon world.
Beyond that were countless related fields: astronomy for star observation, mineralogy for understanding ores, zoology covering magical creatures, botany for herbs and magical plants, geography of heavens, hells, and ley lines, anatomy for the mysteries of the human body…
With Alaric's relentless work, the study was soon overflowing with books.
When Sakuya returned from her errands, she personally transported them to the academy's library, arranging them carefully by category.
Pandora enchanted each book and shelf with magical seals so that only those meeting the requirements could open them.
In building the academy, the most time-consuming task was creating its library.
Alaric's knowledge was so immense that by the time he finished, nearly one hundred thousand different books had been placed on the shelves.
Pandora had to use duplication magic to make copies for easier access.
In the end, nearly all of Alaric's accumulated knowledge had been recorded, leaving aside only the most critical portions, which he had never intended to teach anyone else.
This process consumed half a year of Alaric's time and completely changed Pandora's perception of the man she loved.
She had thought that the magic she had learned from Alaric was already vast. But now she realized that what she had gained was merely a fraction.
Compared to him, even so-called mastery of every magical discipline was insignificant.
With the library complete, the magical academy was nearly ready, everything was in place, except for students.
