Mack stood frozen, staring after Kate as she carried their daughter away. He let out a heavy sigh, wondering why Nari was trying to hide such information from him.
Her makeup was ruined, and her face was a mess. The imprint of his fingers was still visible on her cheek.
He had never treated her this way before. Not even once before today.
So when had he become this kind of man?
When had he become so toxic?
Kate carried Nari into the lounge and gently sat her down before grabbing a wet towel. She carefully wiped her daughter's face, cleaning away the tears and dirt.
"Don't hate him Nari," Kate said softly. "Men are always like that sometimes."
Nari looked up at her in confusion.
"He just raised his hands on me. He slapped me."
Nari's face tightened, the spot he had slapped stung her harder. She didn't understand why Kate was taking his side, she's supposed to take her own side.
