Chapter 7 - The Slaughter Cycle

It was true in Shayan's case that he chose revenge and arrived in the Headmaster's office before 2100. As he opened the door, he saw 4 men standing there. Masir and Ihaan were standing behind the Headmaster, and another guy was standing right in front of the Headmaster. Everyone gazed towards Shayan as he opened the door. The headmaster stepped towards Shayan and pointed towards the other guy. "He is Burhan Mohsin. Burhan, he is Shayan." Burhan said greetings, but he didn't get any reply in return. Shayan closed the door and stepped into the room. "So, you choose to leave your world behind and accept a new home?" The headmaster asked him.

"Yes." He replied. "Only if you tell me who did it and everything else. Why do I have powers?" Burhan stepped away so the headmaster could pass. "What will you do to the guy who killed them?" Shayan lifted his head and looked the Headmaster in the eye, and with a firm voice, he said, "I don't know. I have hatred for whoever killed them. I just want to know who he is. So, I can direct my hatred to someone, as for revenge, but I will try not to seek vengeance."

Masir's gaze changed shock in his eyes and anger towards Shayan. "You won't seek vengeance? What kind of stupid thing is that to say? Someone killed your family, not just killed, but slaughtered them, and you say you don't want revenge?" Shayan shifted his gaze to Masir. "I won't seek vengeance.e I never said I don't want to take revenge. I want to slaughter whoever did it. My dad told me we all have something that manipulates us. I don't want revenge to manipulate me and destroy my life, which I can have in this world."

Headmaster was shocked at how a 19-year-old boy saw the world. "Boy, it's impressive that you have a resolve but you think you will be able to hold back when you meet him face to face."

"I can't promise."

Headmaster walked near him and rested his right hand on Shayan's shoulder "Fair enough." Then he took his hand off and took a few steps back.

"We have seen incidents like this 2 times before. It happens after every hundred years. An Aurian is born in the human realm, and then on his 20th birthday, he and his family are slaughtered just like yours. But in past incidents, the kid never survived. And this time it happened one night before you turned 20. While, in the past, it happened when the boy turned 20, not before it."

"Wait. You are saying this has happened before?" Shayan shouted with shock and curiosity in his voice.

"Yes, 2 times as far as we know but it's a much ancient thing. And just like I said they never survived, but you did."

"What does that make me a reincarnation of someone?" Shayan scuffed and tried to put a brave face on as he was terrified.

"We don't believe it's possible," The headmaster answered his queries. Shayan was shocked to hear that he was supposed to die with his parents, but he was spared or survived somehow. "So, what happens to me next?"

"You chose to live here and become a Prodigy Knight, did you not? We don't have a protocol to deal with this kind of situation, but we will think of something. But before that, we need to get you an Eldris vessel so that you can store all that Nur Energy you are emitting, and then at last we can see which House you belong to. That's the reason you were called. And for the cycle of slaughter, all we know is that it happens and nothing more."

"That's too much information in just one night. Slow down, let me think about what the hell is going on. You keep throwing bombs at me like that, and I am sure to leave. I mean, this is messed up. A few days ago, oh, I was living a normal life. Now, you are telling me I am part of something, there is a whole different world, Eldris thing, 20th birthday, the cycle of slaughter. I had power before doesn't mean you can keep throwing things that I never thought could be possible. Why are you in such a hurry?"

Masir took a few steps forward and grabbed Shayan's collar, with a cold and calm voice he said; "Don't get smart with us. You can think it over some other time." Ihaan rushed over and grabbed Masir from the back of his collar and pulled him away from Shayan, but Masir took Shayan's collar with him. "What the hell are you trying to do, Masir?"

Ihaan asked. Masir threw the collar away and maintained his cold and calm voice when he answered Iha, "We all think of him as a nuisance. We should just kill him. I thought I saw something in him, but he isn't fit to be a Prodigy Knight. The death we face every day on the battlefield. He can't survive that with a lousy ideal. He lacks hatred, and I believe in hate at first sight."

"He doesn't have to be one of us. He can be a better man than you No t all of us have to be monsters." Burhan said to Masir.

"And you want to make him a Prodigy Knight? We fight monsters out there; we must become monsters to defeat monsters." Masir replied.

"Maybe you are just afraid he might end up like you, you big softie," Ihaan said with a mocking tone.

"You want a die?" Said Masir while snapping his fingers twice. The second he was going to snap his fingers a third time, Burhan took a few steps back, fear in his eyes was evident.

"Stop it, there's a kid in the room." He shouted. Ihaan placed his hands on the sword that he always had on the left side of his hip. The aura changed around them. The air became heavier and heavier before long, and Shayan found himself lying on the ground. He was being crushed by the Nur force of Masir. That's when the third snap sounded, but suddenly, Shayan felt a hand on his collar once again. It was Masir again. But Shayan couldn't figure out what had just happened. A second ago, he was being crushed by some kind of force, and now he was standing on his feet, and someone had him by his collar.
