Chapter 226 - Dark Space III

I committed a huge crime millions of years ago.

It could not be deemed a crime to anyone other than myself.

From the late stages of my life I was labelled by an ancient civilisation as 'Elyseum', the one that was the brightest star in the sky. In the firmament I was the fartest away, but none of their sun could match my light.

So they worshipped me. I kept their cattle healthy, I allowed the life in their lands to spread because their suns were too weak to do so. They said I was a blessing from farther away.

Truly I was but only for them. I was a star several galaxies away... for them I was a saviour. But for those closer to me, I was a merciless destroyer; a calcinator that allowed no life to grow and scalded every rock until it melted and eventually scattered leaving not even a nebulous.

My heat was too strong, so the only civilisations that could worship me were those for which I was no more than a bright beautiful dot in the sky. They were so ignorant of what I truly was, but I knew and felt them very well. Their evolutionary traits from simple rudimentary particles into eukaryotes... a thousand years for them felt like a second to me.

As time went by, I gained sentience, I learned about myself and others, I realised that I was becoming bigger and bigger and as a consequence, I was burning more and more... and devouring more and getting heavier... and heavier... and heavier.

So heavy... that space itself was starting to not be able to hold me.

Every second a civilisation wouldn't be burned, a beautiful planet would calcinate... everyone was so terrified of me. Those who worshipped me and came to love me, would eventually hate me and curse me.

But I couldn't help myself. I didn't know why I was like that... I didn't ask to be like that.

'Am I a sinner, a disgrace... merely for existing? I gave you all life. Why then can't I take it away?'

Only this little civilisation remained, far away from my reach... forget about seconds, hours would have to go by before my heat could hope to reach them. By then they would be extinct, I would be nothing but a fleeting memory of the saviour that once filled them with warmth.

But it wasn't fated to be like that.

Soon I reached my limit, it was as if something inside me gave off, something that had been keeping me up together, simply couldn't take it anymore and I only heard a 'puff'.

I exploded like a devastating supernova, bigger than any other I had witnessed, I destroyed everything in my path... and that civilisation, which was supposed to worship me to the very end, scattered so fast that I couldn't even sense them.

I experienced a devastating pain during this process that rendered my conscience unavailable. Soon all this dispersed energy gathered up in the centre of the cosmos after the mass had at least multiplied ten times.

What remained of me was a rather massive black hole. My shine was gone, I opened my eyes for the first time and saw through my eyes and not my senses. And all I saw around me was the darkness I had created by engulfing everything.

No one else would ever worship me... because a blackhole is nowhere to be seen.

All that remained was an unsatiable hunger.

From then on I caught the sight of entities that were way more powerful. Entities who sought cosmic strength more than anything else in the universe.

They called me 'Elysir' because I was a star bereft of light, a phenomenon without precedents.

Among them, one of the strongest dared to approach me, touch me... he risked his life doing so but seemed not to care.

His name was Oberyon and as his body shattered into millions of particles and his consciousness faded after touching me... he did nothing but smile as he talked to me.

'Oh no, Elysir... you are not a blackhole. You are something way more impressive. Something way more terrifying!' He uttered as if proud.

'You are a virus. A star that contaminates other stars. A blackhole on its own couldn't ever hope to achieve what you can. You? You can end this universe by sinking it into eternal darkness. You are exactly what we need, Elysir'.

'I am...'

'It is a pity that I wouldn't be able to survive this. But it doesn't matter, I depart glorified in the fact that this universe has finally witnessed the creation of an abnormal astronomical phenomenon that was predictable yet impossible to witness in a lifetime!

His consciousness scattered, one of the most powerful beings in this universe perished just by touching me, he was also the first person I had a conversation with.

'The birth of a cosmic criminal: The Black Sun, Elysir'.

I opened my eyes, recalling that dream vividly.

I felt as if my body had rested for ages; I saw Amaterasu, Ophis and Aqua lying down next to Elysir and me in a circle, all asleep within a beautiful tent, resting on top of a mirror world.

It was normal to see Ophis and Aqua, but to see Amaterasu asleep, that didn't happen often. When I rose everything was dark, and although I could feel a lot of presences, everyone was deep into a slumber.

There was a lot of quietness, resembling that seeping darkness I had returned from.

I felt the urge to caress Elysir's face first, although they were not the same... that one far away couldn't feel this warmth. It didn't matter if it was a dream or reality, light or darkness... she was still the most beautiful thing that had ever happened to me. It was why, despite my ever-increasing number of lovers, women that shamelessly occupy my heart and leave their mark; There would always be one woman I love the most.

"Ely..." I shook her a bit. Sure enough her eyes opened in all their beautiful lustre.

"Ray, you're awake..." She mumbled and yawned, I grasped both her cheeks and planted a kiss on those lips that were a lot warmer but just as delicious. She was momentarily stunned but reciprocated it very quickly.

"W-What's wrong?" She asked me confused, I almost felt offended.

"Do I need a reason to kiss you?".

"N-No but... that was so sudden~" She giggled and hugged my arm, we shared a couple more kisses. I asked about my mom's consciousness, she was still asleep.

"How long have I been out?"

"I don't know... the moment you fell unconscious, so did I. I am your avatar, remember? It was all due to Amaterasu, I-I called her here because I knew I wasn't going to be able to convince you, I'm sorry–".

"Thank you", I pressed my forehead against hers, "You don't need to explain yourself. It is okay... whatever problems there are, we will deal with them together"

"... are you sure you're okay?" She flinched, I don't understand why this woman is so suspicious of me. I guess it is true that something did happen, after seeing Elysir in my dreams, I'm in a great mood.

"Nothing much, just saw someone I wanted to see".

"Eh?".

"Horus, how long?".

[Three days. Due to the immense load of energy required to fill Katsuyu's purposes, Lady Amaterasu, Lady Aqua and Lady Ophis had to voluntarily put themselves in a hibernation state, so they had been unconscious for as long as you have as well].
