Chapter 51 - Investor Protigano

Investor Portegano arrived at the farm, intending to buy the wheat crop.

He parked his car and headed toward the house. Finding the door open, he stepped inside, calling out:

Portegano: "Colin! Where are you, my friend?"

Colin, still in his room, asked Sula to go meet him.

Colin: "Go to him, Sula. This is harvest season — buyers will be coming from all over the world."

Sula headed toward the door and saw Portegano entering the kitchen.

Sula: "Listen, you entered someone's house and reached the kitchen where I live."

Portegano: "A lady here? I thought Colin lived alone."

Sula: "Shut up — I'm his sister."

Portegano: "I'm an investor. I came to buy the crop."

Sula: "Harvest? What harvest? The monsters will take everything!"

Portegano: "Madam, what are you talking about? I'm not a monster."

Sula: "Come, follow me."

Sula led the investor into Uncle Colin's room. Colin was lying weakly on his bed, unable to stand.

Portegano (astonished): "Colin! My friend! I see you lying here in bed… but I've always seen you working your farm like a lion, guarding it yourself. And your wolves… they aren't even here watching over you. I entered your farm and found it barren, and your wolves didn't greet me as they used to."

Colin: "Sit down and taste our food."

Portegano: "I can't — I'm in a hurry. I need to catch the Chinese plane before it takes off."

Colin: "That's good news. My sister wants to go there with her children. She wants to get into the art of investment."

Portegano: "And you, my friend?"

Colin: "Don't worry about me. Friends will come after you and keep me company."

Portegano: "Then… there's nothing to buy from you?"

Colin: "The farm—"

Sula: "Why, brother? Where are we going?"

Colin: "Your husband is condemned by the villagers. I want to help you."

Portegano: "You've put me in a difficult position, Colin. We'll discuss it next time when I return. Come on, kids, load your luggage into the car."

Sula, with tears in her eyes, bid farewell to her brother.

Sula: "I will miss you very much, brother."

Colin smiled at the children and said:

Colin: "Your keys, Sally… don't lose them."
