Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

Declan watched as I wiped off the makeup and so did his sisters. The unidentical twins. Sophia and Clara. Both mahogany hair and equally fearless and occasionally funny. They saw my face hidden underneath the make up and congratulated their brother for his choice. He stared like he was the biggest idiot in the world. I went to the switch clothes to a black dress with short sleeves. Then I braided my hair before wearing flat shoes. I walked out and dressed my baby in a dark blue frock. She wore slippers. I made sure she wore a sweater and Adam took us to the airstrip where a private jet took us to Belfast international airport. We got out and Saoirse was waiting with a basket laden with Irish cookies and scones. I smiled, "My dear you didn't have to." She grinned,"It's your favorite isn't?" I smiled, "My dear if I could eat these scones for the rest of my life I am a happy woman. Maeve here loves the cookies. She gets one for good behavior." Maeve smiled, "May I please have one?" Saoirse happily handed her the entire tin. We got in the car and I got to my apartment. Maeve went to sleep and I sat down to paint. I focused and saw the dark path of my psychic abilities. One that involves predicting the death of people.

As I was exiting the airport I did bump into someone who came to Belfast the same day as me. I saw him make a bomb. It was filled with rusted nails and other sharp objects. All this to reach maximum lethality. I was trying to find out where this device will be placed. It was at a concert held in the park. I warned Saoirse. Terrified she called the police. They discovered the bomb and other devices. They were pleased but cautiously inquired how she uncovered this plot. She said that she saw him buy these items and felt he was up to no good. So she chose to be a good citizen and report it. They showed their appreciation by keeping her anonymous. I went out grocery shopping so I can fix a snack. I came back to see Declan was there and he was here with a few others. His brother Aiden and his father Liam and uncle Ronan. I placed the bags on the table and Maeve asked me if I was cooking dinner.

I didn't have the heart to tell her that I didn't feel like cooking. So I made her homemade chicken nuggets, thick cut french fries, chocolate milkshake and a salad. She ate all of it without making a fuss. I made steak and eggs for Declan. I didn't eat anything. Saoirse asked me if I saw someone die. I muttered, "I found a corpse and I have no idea how to express the feeling." She asked me to describe the scene. I explained the earth was glowing florescent green and it smelled like cleaning fluid. I wanted to dig up the corpse but someone stopped me. I was roaming around for a few minutes before I came home. She asked me about the location and promised to handle it. Her brother is the medical examiner so he will lend a hand. I drew her a map and she walked away to make a few calls. Maeve came with a nugget and I forced myself to eat it. I gave her a hug as I cried. She came after she made the call. She didn't need an explanation. The corpse was a child. So she asked him to hurry.

That night I didn't sleep but I made sure that Maeve rested peacefully. I paced back and forth till Ewan came to take me to the morgue. Moira promised to watch over Maeve till I came back. I boarded the car and he took me to the morgue. The place was gray toned and felt like despair. Each step felt like it was telling me I wasn't prepared for the heartache waiting for me at the end of the corridor. There were opposing forces that were pushing me forward and pushing me away at the same time. One side wanting justice the other side shielding me from potential nightmares. I saw a little angel sleeping peacefully. She looked like she was about to wake up any moment. She looked like she didn't suffer at all. But that was because they washed her well and thoroughly. I barely touched her and I jumped like I was electrocuted. I saw a flash of her drinking milk and walking towards someone explaining the urge to go home. He promised to send her home. She has to wait for her mommy. She went to watch TV and she passed out. Then the monster used the full extent of his perverted imagination on her. Then he realized she had passed away. He panicked and buried her there. The man's face was a blur. But he left an impression on her which transferred to me. I asked Ewan to get the car. I want to find this monster off the street. Declan volunteered to chauffeur me everywhere he promised to keep Ewan in the loop.

We drove around twice on every street of Belfast and finally found him outside a restaurant watching a single mother feed her baby girl. I pointed him out and he was nabbed off the street. What happened to him is not my business. I came home and I couldn't sleep. I was worried about Maeve. What if someone had done that to her. My blood turned to ice. My heart was thumping in my ears and I couldn't stop sobbing. I held my baby as I walked back and forth. I finally got her to sleep and Clara came with some tea. I remember drinking it. I leaned down and I opened my eyes it was the next day. I felt I was trapped in a vice. I was gripped from both sides and I had trouble breathing. Ewan explained that I will feel better after her funeral. So he is hastening her case. The others held my hand and gave me words of encouragement. I heard his evil cackle and realized he wasn't alone. He had an accomplice. I made sure Declan got the information out of him before he was handed over to the police. The pressure receded as the baby was lowered into her resting place. The mother walked away with her family. I watched the entire scene from a distance and made sure to book the next ride out of Belfast to get to Dublin. Saoirse wished me a safe trip as she gave me a box of chocolate. I held her hand and saw her getting injured. Her ex-boyfriend was going to come back and give her a beating so I advised her to stay where the police can get him. She promised to be extra careful and the others held their hands too. I waved them off and got in the car. The rest of the trip was spent asleep. We reached Dublin and I dressed in form fitting red and black frock. I tied my hair into a messy bun and wore high heels. My baby was wearing her navy blue t-shirt, overalls and sneakers. The high table called to request my assistance. They emailed me a picture and requested the person whereabouts. I closed my eyes and saw myself running. I was huffing and puffing as I pushed branches away from me. I almost fell into a ditch. I opened my eyes and I gave the location. The man with a Russian accent thanked me as he transferred money to my account. They apologized for the interruption of my mandatory vacation time.
