Chapter 2 - Waking Up and Refinement

Waking up, the body that was floating 10ft in the air suddenly falls to the ground below.

"OH SH*T"

The body suddenly is surprised as it bellows while it falls shortly below.

It lands with a thud but no discomfort on its face. If anything, it was more curious about its surroundings than it was about its well-being.

After about a minute of looking around, the body suddenly sits and closes its eyes.

'So, the previous owner of this body is also called Sumer. He was from the No-Va Family of Sing City. The city is under the jurisdiction of Mooncrest Empire. The Empire is located on the Eastern Continent. Fascinating!! I've never imagined that reincarnation would be possible.'

The body, now known as Sumer, continues to sort through all of his memories and pretty much truly make them his own.

He discovered that this world he is in is one of cultivation, politics, scheming overlords, aristocratic hegemonies, and sects. The powerful look down on the lesser populace.

These people treat the weak so indifferently that one would believe they didn't exist.

Only those with strength and or status will be respected.

Thinking along those lines, Sumer finished his sorting of the previous Sumer and decided to sort through the other memories.

'Sh*t! Darkseid exists,' Sumer exclaims after a certain realization hits him.

Though he was a graduate of Oxford with multiple Ph.D.s to his name, Sumer was not an idiot who did not know what DC and Marvel were.

He'd often had roommates back in his university days who avidly read comic books.

One of his roommates even sent him quite a few. Even ones from China. One that he loved and finished reading during his time on the station was called Apotheosis: Elevation to the Status of a God.

That was the first Xianxia comic book he'd read and loved it. He had gotten to know honorific titles such as young master or young miss. That was something he'd never heard of.

His second Chinese book he had read was titled, Dan and Martial God in the Otherworld. Reading that series made him admire Chinese authors and their absurd level of creativity.

Feeling himself drift off down memory lane, Sumer immediately got his thoughts back on track.

'The big bad of DC is a real-life person. So, the parallel universe theory is true!! If Darkseid is real, that means…'

Sumer did not want to finish that thought as an endless rabbit hole would await him if he kept thinking about it.

After all, he realized that every "random" creative thought and action that humans could think and perform exists in some way. He's seeing it play out right now in his head.

Superman. Batman. The Flash. Lex Luthor. Supergirl. And his favorite of them all… Wonder Woman.

Talk about being a virgin. She's the CEO of Virginity.

She'd break every guy's d*ck even before they put the tip in.

Sumer managed to view all of Darkseid's deeds and he was not happy.

'This guy is such a jack*ss. He had his mother poisoned just to take the throne? Then, he ran like a p*ssy when his daddy came back. Pitiful.'

Sumer tried to empathize with Darkseid's actions but couldn't relinquish his 21st-century mindset.

However, he knows that his mindset will have to change. He isn't on Earth anymore. Being kind will eventually reward him with cruelty from others.

Especially where war is rampant and other foreign races are incredibly savage towards his human race.

Making up his mind, Sumer will have to embrace the unkind primitive characteristics that pushed the previous human race back on Earth to where it is currently. Well, was that is.

In other words, Sumer will have to embrace his…

Toxic Masculinity.

With the enhanced brain and soul Sumer had been given, he was able to quickly adjust his mind.

Now focusing on the information Long Caihong (Rainbow Dragon in Traditional Chinese) had given him, Sumer began to sort all of the information about cultivation into each category. Realm. Sub levels. Benefits.

In this world, cultivation realms were graded into 6 different levels. From lowest to highest is:

1. Body Refinement Layer

2. Innate Realm

3. Spirit Illumination

4. Spirit Core

5. Void Tribulation

6. Life-Death Realm

Sumer then decides to discard the other five realms as he is just starting in the body refinement realm. No need to read on when he's not even there.

The Body Refinement Layer focuses on strengthening the physical body. This layer is akin to a preparation more than anything. Sumer "reads" what Long Caihong had given him:

"Before starting on the path of Cultivation, one must first refine various layers of one's body to expel impurities and strengthen the body to prepare for actual cultivation. The Body Refinement Layers are therefore not Cultivation Ranks, as they precede true cultivation.

Progressing through the various Body Refinement Layers improves the durability of one's body, as well as the strength of one's physical attacks.

There are 6 Layers of Body Refinement in total:

Skin Refinement Layer

Flesh Refinement Layer

Bone Refinement Layer

Viscera Refinement Layer

Marrow Refinement Layer

Half-Step Innate Soul."

At the Refinement Realm, the natives of this world utilize methods called "medicinal baths" to pretty much soak their bodies in herbs that remove the impurities in their bodies. These medicinal baths target the specific layer of cultivation.

Nonetheless, those herbs contain the genuine energy they need to reach the Innate Realm. Albeit, they contain very minuscule amounts of genuine energy.

They are also graded in ranks from 1-9. One being the lowest and nine being the highest.

Knowing this, Sumer was kind of stuck. His body is the purest this world had ever seen. How could measly medicinal herbs help him?

Even if he had 10,000 Rank 9 herbs, it still wouldn't help. Could he skip it? The info provided by Long Caihong said not to skip anything.

What could he do? What source…

A sudden thought occurred to him.

'If I'm not originally from here, would I even need to conform and use their energy source to cultivate? No! I'll use my own.'

To compete and even dominate the other races who also have their strength systems, he would have to be that one guy in class always doing his own thing.

To make it better, he also has the highest affinity to every cultivation system and their elements in the known universe. He could also increase his power even further.

Closing his eyes, Sumer searches in this soul for the connection he has with the Omega Effect. Finding it, he commands it to "soak" into his skin and refine it based on the information he has read.

"AH, YOU ASSH*LE!! YOU NEVER TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE ANY PAIN!!" Sumer curses at the rainbow dragon.

What Sumer did not know was that there would be pain but not nearly the amount he's experiencing.

Since his body is 100x purer than any being in this world, the Omega Effect had to increase its potency for the refinement to even work.

Already starting, Sumer's skin was as strong as refined steel. Therefore, why would the standard amount of energy work?

You need more power!!!

Seemingly forever later, Sumer's bellows dwindled to small groans here and there.

Sumer continues to refine his skin until he feels no pain.

With his incredible will, Sumer begins his second round of refinement. This time, it's his muscles/flesh.

The pain was even more terrifying than when he refined his skin. A day later, Sumer finally finished the Flesh Refinement Layer.

Her then gets up and stretches. Once done, he smacks his cheeks like how some cultivation protaganists do and says,

"Time for a full body workout."
