Lady Genesis limped down the quiet hall holding her bruised shoulder with her uninjured hand.
Life was unfair, it was cruel to her. Why did she have to bear the consequences of a woman that was not a mother to her!. Why?!!. The scream in her head did nothing to satiate her. She needed to let it out; she needed to let the pain her.
She needed somewhere to cry, somewhere she was not a disgrace to anyone, somewhere she was herself; pitiful. She walked to an intersection with long halls on both sides; the one on her right illuminated by torches attached to a holder on the wall while the one on her left was dark, too creepy and almost dirty. It looked like something that hadn't been used in a long time.
Laughter ran down the hall illuminated by torches accompanied with the sound of timbrel, making her pause in her movements and choice of direction. In the midst of her dilemma, she was pulled into the dark hall and pushed against the wall. The pull was so fast that it seemed like she walked on air. Her wide eyes looked up at the looming figure, afraid that the bad premonition she had would come to pass. Her warm, tired blue eyes met with the unfamiliar grey she had come to know in just a day.
"Lord Landmark?". She questioned, wandering if there was a mix up somewhere because she had seen his boots and counted each step he took until he was out and the door was shut behind him. Lady Genesis quizzical gaze watched the looming figure that hovered above her, waking up her senses with the hands on her arms. When his hand came in contact with her injured shoulder, she hissed in pain and threw her head backwards, bumping it against the hand that Landmark put behind her head before it made contact with the hard wall she was backed up against.
"Tell me". His voice was low and rough, in sync with his fingers that moved back up her arm until he got to her shoulder, pulling down the top of her sleeve to reveal the ugly purplish bruise that had formed from the sharp heel of Lady Delilah's shoe.
"Who did this to you". There was no chandelier to illuminate the grey orbs, no single spectrum of light in the dark hall they were but his eyes burned in the dark without light as it studied the ugly bruise and the torn section of her satin sleeve.
"I'm sorry!". Lady Genesis squeaked almost screaming. "I didn't mean to talk back to Lady Delilah please d-don't kill me, I'll bear any punishment. Please". She whimpered at the sound of death and punishment coming out of her own mouth.
"I asked one question Genesis". His long fingers circled the bruise with the top of her sleeve still pulled down her arm revealing golden skin.
Lady Genesis nodded feverishly with her gaze down not daring to look at his face, knowing he could end her life with just a word.
"Who did this to you?". Although she had spilled the answer Landmark still asked.
"Lady Delilah only corrected me Lord Landmark because I was out of line". Her knees were shaking out of fear knowing she was in a dark hall with the notorious Landmark that spoke to dead bodies slaughtered by him as a lesson to the others.
Landmark nodded, pulling up back her sleeve to maintain decency.
"I was too late when a little rat told me what transpired". Landmark grasped Lady Genesis's small hand in his palm and walked them out of the dark hall.
What was happening? Her gaze moved from her tiny hand to his side profile. What did he mean? Had he been long gone from the establishment? But why was he back?. Questions swirled in her head.
Lady Genesis looked at her hand in his and fear gripped her, her head moving sideway to check if the coast was clear, if no one was spying on them as she secretly tried to pull her hand from his.
Pfft! Who was she kidding?
"I-If I may ask Lord Landmark, why are you back?". She tried to get her mind off their intertwined fingers making them look like lovers from ancient time.
"To correct something". His reply was curt.
But why did it look like they were walking back to the dreadful meeting room!!!
