Recalling all the painful memories, Amelia's determination grew stronger; she told the driver to go to the nearest hotel. "Rubia, what are you doing? Why did you tell Mami we'll be gone for a month? We have school."
" It's better that we talk in the hotel. I don't want you to make a scene in the car." Amelia knew that if she didn't talk to Sophia and tell her all the details, she would force her back home, but lucky for her, she and Sophia had a special gift.
They arrived at the hotel, and Sophia realized they had no money. They're only 16 years old with no allowance or job from a regular family. "Rubia, can you please tell me what's happening? How did you pay the Uber?
" Papi card," Amelia said in a monotone voice.
" What did you ask, Papi?"
"Morena, please just bear with me; you'll find out later. Let's use our gift." Morena was shocked they swore not to use their gift after almost killing each other.
"NO, ARE YOU CRAZY? ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL US? YOU'VE BEEN ACTING WEIRD THIS WHOLE TIME, AND I'VE BEEN SUPPORTING IT, BUT I WON'T SUPPORT US BASICALLY COMMITTING SUICIDE." Sophia was furious.
They had a special gift ever since they were little; they called it their twin connection. As corny as it might sound, it fit perfectly. For as long as they could remember, whenever they wanted to share memories, they would hold each other's arms and look deep into each other's eyes. They would soon black out and have a dream that they couldn't interact in because it wasn't a dream; it was a memory. But with such a gift came a side effect.
Amelia and Sophia used this gift so much that it almost killed them. Every time they used the gift, it would attack their brains. At first, the symptoms weren't big, so they never noticed until one time their parents caught them on the floor. Amelia's heart stopped beating, and Sophia was close to death. Luckily, they both survived.
"Please, Morena, this is important. Please, I wouldn't have mentioned it if it wasn't. Words cannot express it, only memories. It's so important it can change our whole lives; it's a matter of life and death."
"Rubia, are you sure you want to do this?" Amelia looked at Sophia's eyes with a determined look, seeing that Sophia gave up; they always gave up to each other, always compromising.
Amelia took out her phone and booked a room. They went up and locked the door. "Are you SURE you want to do this, like SUPER sure?"
" I know I'm asking for a lot, but don't worry, I'll make sure nothing happens to you; just trust me." Amelia made sure to position herself next to the bed, not telling Sophia why she was so sure she'd be okay. They grabbed each other and looked into each other's eyes. Soon enough, they could feel the familiar connection they hadn't felt in years, and everything turned black.
Soon the memories of her past life can be seen: the fire, the abuse, the end, and her miserable life before the doomsday; how she kneeled again and again just for a piece of rotten bread; how she grew powerful in the end of times but was used as a puppet by her stepmother and sister, pleasing them just to be killed in the end by her fiancé, the person she loved the most, and her stepsister, who she thought had changed after the catastrophe, just to find out what a two-faced bitch she is, all the way to her impending death.
While all these Sophia tears started to fall down uncontrollably, she never paid attention to the part where she died. All she focused on was how much Amelia suffered. No matter how many times she wanted to run towards Amelia and help her, she was unable to.
Soon her vision came back, and she saw Amelia convulsing. She did exactly what her big sister said to do when in a seizure: she put Amelia to the side and made sure she could breathe, and she made sure there was nothing hard or sharp near. She then put a pillow under her head, and luckily Amelia stopped seizing after five minutes. She woke up extremely dizzy; after calming down and a few minutes, she was back to normal.
"Rubia, what did you do? How did I not get hurt, but you did?"
Sophia was suspicious of Amelia doing something, and she was right.
" Sophia I want to go to Dalian, and I want to trick the whole family into going. Amelia quickly changed the topic.
" The whole family? That's impossible; they're not idiots."
" You saw it in my memories. I need to attain that bracelet, and China was the country with the least casualties and damage. We also need to find a way to separate that snake and Papi."Amelia was determined to change her and her family's fate. Sophia saw the determination, and she also started to feel it too.
" So you want to go to Dailan first and then take the whole family later?"
"Yes, I need to do something very important. I can't wait any longer, so I can't deal with moving everyone to China right now, but I need your help, so you have to go with me."
