Chapter 2 - 1st month in

[Scene: Streets of Vale – Afternoon]

The bustling streets of Vale were suddenly disturbed by the screeching tires of a stolen car barreling down the main road, weaving dangerously through traffic.

Then—thwip!

A red-and-blue blur swung past streetlights and over rooftops, zeroing in on the rogue vehicle.

Spider-Man (internal):

Alright, Spidey, car chase in broad daylight. Time to make a good impression on the locals.

A web shot forward, latching onto the rear bumper as Spider-Man flipped mid-air and landed gracefully on the car's roof.

He tapped twice on the roof.

Spider-Man (cheeky): "Knock knock!"

Inside, the getaway driver snapped his head up to see a mask with large white lenses staring down at him through the windshield.

Getaway Driver (startled): "Who the hell is this freak?!"

The man panicked, reaching for his gun—but Spidey was faster. The gun was ripped from his hand by a webline.

Spider-Man: "Didn't your mama ever teach you it's rude to point guns at people?"

Another webline shot out, yanking the driver out through the window. Spider-Man caught him mid-air and stuck him to a nearby lamppost like a bug on display.

Spider-Man: "Hope you enjoy your sticky situation."

With the driver out of commission, the car was still rolling—fast.

Spider-Man (internal):

Alright, Andrew. Time to test that wall-crawling leg power.

He webbed the back of the car, dug his feet into the pavement, and strained with all his might. The tires squealed, asphalt cracked beneath his feet—until the car jerked to a sudden stop.

Spider-Man: "And that, kids, is why you wear your seatbelt."

He dusted himself off and launched into the air, swinging off to patrol the city.

[Scene Transition: Two Hours Later – Downtown Vale]

A column of black smoke billowed from an apartment complex. Fire trucks surrounded the scene. One woman was sobbing uncontrollably, clutching her chest.

Mother: "My baby's still inside!"

Firemen were trying their best, but the flames were too intense to enter.

Then—thwip! A webline shot across the smoke.

A red-and-blue blur swung into the building through a shattered window.

Moments later, Spider-Man emerged from the flames, coughing, carrying a small baby swaddled in his arms.

He landed gently, handing the child to its mother.

Spider-Man (softly): "Here you go. They're safe."

Before she could respond, he was gone—vanishing into the smoke like a ghost.

[Rooftop Nearby – Spider-Man POV]

I landed on the rooftop hard, yanking off my mask as a coughing fit hit me like a truck.

Spider-Man (internal):

Note to self: build a rebreather into the next suit. Remnant fires suck.

I leaned back against a ledge, staring up at the darkening sky.

Spider-Man (internal):

Y'know… this place isn't so bad. I've been here a month, and while it's not New York, it's homey. Grimm attacks have been low near Vale, and I've kept busy—petty theft, rescues, stopping thugs. Just… doing my Spider-Man thing.

thwip!

I launched off the roof, catching the air with both hands, the wind howling past me as I soared above the streets.

Spider-Man (out loud): "WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I flipped, twisted, slingshot between buildings with double weblines, parkouring along a wall mid-run. Yeah… this never gets old.

[Alleyway – Later That Night]

A young bunny Faunus girl—maybe a Beacon student?—was surrounded by two angry-looking men with stun batons.

Thug 1: "You Faunus freaks think you belong here?!"

Thug 2: "You'll learn your place real quick—"

thwip! thwip!

Their weapons were ripped out of their hands by webbing, and a shadow dropped behind them.

Spider-Man: "Y'know, it's not very smart picking a fight with a Beacon student."

Thugs (terrified): "It's him! It's the Spider!"

Spider-Man: "Yup. And guess what—this outfit doesn't come with a mute button."

A couple of precise kicks later, the thugs were unconscious, webbed to the nearest trash can.

He turned to the trembling girl, who sat curled up, arms around her knees.

Spider-Man (gentle): "Hey… you're safe now. They can't hurt you."

He knelt in front of her, lowering his voice.

Spider-Man: "Focus on my voice. Can you tell me what you hear? What you smell?"

She sniffled, still shaken, but nodded.

Velvet (quietly): "I can smell… smoke. Cigarettes. I hear your voice… and cars driving by…"

She slowly looked up, finally seeing him fully for the first time. Her eyes widened.

Velvet: "My name's Velvet. What's yours?"

He smiled beneath the mask.

Spider-Man: "Just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."

He fired off a web and swung away into the night sky.

[Scene Transition: Beacon Academy – Ozpin's Office]

Professor Glynda Goodwitch tapped her scroll against her palm, brows furrowed.

Glynda: "I feel it's best to ask—what are we going to do about this masked vigilante running around Vale?"

Ozpin sipped his coffee calmly, watching the sunset from his window.

Ozpin: "From what we've observed, morale in the city has improved. Grimm activity near the borders is down. He even rescued one of our students."

He turned, eyes thoughtful.

Ozpin: "For now, we leave him be. Observe. He may become… an ally. Especially in the coming conflict."

Glynda (cautious): "Very well. But General Ironwood is… less than comfortable with him. If we do intend to reach out to this 'Spider-Man,' the General may become a complication."

She turned her scroll to him, revealing a headline:

"Masked Menace or Hero? Vale's New Vigilante Divides Public" – VNN

Jacques Schnee criticizes Spider-Man's "chaotic methods" while Ironwood has yet to comment.

Ozpin chuckled.

Ozpin: "He's making quite the impact already."
