Of course, this sounds simple, but it is extremely difficult to do. Not to mention persisting in accumulating virtue and doing good deeds is inherently a very difficult task, let alone, the Merit required to become a Saint is far beyond imagination.
Even if one persists for hundreds of billions of years, or tens of billions of years, it may not be possible to accumulate enough Merit.
But how can becoming a Saint be simple? Accumulating Merit is difficult, but isn't cultivation also difficult? Trying to become a Saint through cultivation is even harder than becoming a Saint through Merit.
