The south could be considered familiar territory for Igor. Because that is where his hometown is, Luona is just south of Xinbal. Igor's hometown is in Luona.
Of course, this journey south is not a return home for Igor. He could visit home, but he feels returning home would waste his exploration time.
So this time Igor did not choose the route back to Luona.
He walked towards the south, not yet knowing his final destination, but he was certain that during this exploration he would make new discoveries, something he always believed in. Igor now realizes all of this is his own affair; he won't beg others, nor will he bother them.
In Igor's eyes, the south is a remarkably inviting place, not just because his hometown is there, but also because it inherently possesses a magical power.
Both the Wensi Empire and the Mantai Empire are to the south of the Kayne Realm, while the north is barren, with vast, boundless seas.
