The tension in Max Davies's voice strangely soothed Lynette Moreland's inner agitation.
She squatted down and touched the bear paw-like leaves of the succulent plant in the flowerpot, "Why so nervous? I've known you for so long and only met Olivia once. Naturally, I trust you."
Max Davies was silent for a moment and then asked, "What did she say to you?"
"She…" Lynette Moreland instinctively wanted to spill everything but paused and changed her mind, "She didn't say much, just that she likes you and doesn't want me to marry you. A ridiculous request."
"Nothing else?"
"What else do you think there is?" Lynette Moreland retorted.
Max Davies didn't quite believe it, but he didn't press further, only saying, "It's best if there isn't. No matter what she says, just trust me."

As soon as Max Davies hung up the call with Lynette Moreland, Olivia's call came in.
"I told you not to look for her, and you still didn't listen."
