Putting the remote control back in its place, he gently removed the eye mask from the little one's eyes. After carefully observing her for a few seconds, he reluctantly adjusted the sheer curtain around her.
He was about to leave when he heard a small rustling noise from the crib.
Quickly, he stopped and drew back the curtain again.
He saw the little one on the pillow lightly humming, her tiny hands moving about, and after a moment, she quieted down again.
"Daddy knew you needed a wee,"
He smiled lightly, turned to the wall, and opened the panel of the control station.
Spreading out a soft cotton blanket and preparing the necessary items, Lucas Walker went into the restroom to wash his hands with disinfectant soap, dried his fingers, rubbed his palms together to ensure they were warm enough not to chill her, and then gently lifted the little one from the crib, placing her on the station.
