Flossie Wright lifted her eyelids, the smile at the corner of her lips deepening. She spoke word by word, her voice hoarse, "You're too kind."
Gavin's fingers tightened their grip, but Flossie still looked at him with smiling eyes, as if she felt no pain at all.
Finally, Gavin withdrew his hand in annoyance.

From the beginning until now, no matter what he did to her, she was like a piece of wood. Clearly, one could see she was in pain, but no matter how much it hurt, her expression remained serene, as if her suffering wasn't affecting her body. Or perhaps, her mind and soul had already detached from her body, watching quietly as he tortured this vessel.
Every time she remained silent, Gavin acted even more brutally.
