After ending the call, Maxwell Peary's complexion didn't look much better, and it took him a while to notice Nia Mitchell standing there.
"Uh..."
Maxwell Peary instantly tried to conceal the chill in his aura. Noticing Nia Mitchell's somewhat pale face, a flicker of panic went through him.
"Who were you on the phone with?" Nia Mitchell asked blankly.
"Ah, I was discussing a business deal. Did it scare you?" His voice dropped, and his tone relaxed considerably.
However, perhaps because he had been too harsh earlier, even this softer approach didn't lessen the pressure he exuded.
"No." Nia Mitchell shook her head and forced a smile.
"I don't have anything else to do. If you have something else to take care of, you can go."
Maxwell Peary didn't want Nia Mitchell to see him in this state and gave a faint sigh.
"Okay, I should get back to work then." Nia Mitchell smiled as she left, but as soon as she stepped out of the office, she let out a sigh of relief.
