Ivan Horne couldn't sit still. He stood up again and paced back and forth in front of the surgery room door, mumbling something that nobody could hear clearly.
"It should be soon, right?" Tom Aiken muttered to himself, bouncing his leg. "Three, three of them, it's not that quick. Lia inherited the gene for multiple births from her maternal side. Her grandmother bore multiples."
Tom Aiken was praying that his daughter would have a son and a daughter in this birth, so she wouldn't need to go through it again. Although the in-laws expressed they preferred daughters, Tom still hoped she'd have a son. He believed a son was significant in a wealthy family. Call him old-fashioned if you like, but he hoped for two sons and a daughter in this birth.
As everyone anxiously waited, the door to the surgery room opened.
Three nurses came out holding three little babies.
"Nurse, how is my wife?" Ivan asked anxiously. He didn't ask if they were boys or girls; he only cared about Lia's health.
