Like almost everyone else, Adam started his journey from scratch. Sure, if he had been born in the Third Ring or Second Ring instead of the slums, his childhood would have been better, but now he understood that overall it would have made almost no difference.
Any ordinary human, except maybe those born into high noble families, would be scared of what was outside the Citadel walls.
They knew that there, in the Dead Lands, were dangerous monsters that could kill hundreds of people in the blink of an eye. Obviously, no one wanted to die and face that kind of threat. It was logical and understandable.
So... How would an ordinary human react when they learned that there was a person in this world who voluntarily chose to live in the Dead Lands, among dangerous monsters?
Moreover, it was not a safe spot near the Citadel that would be constantly under the control of powerful Phantoms, it was the middle part of the Primal Lands, where even Frida's influence ended.
