The second day at U.A. had begun and the students were all in the classroom getting comfortable in their seats. Izuku and Momo had found some seats next to each other, much to their delight. Unfortunately Bakugou had taken the liberty of sitting in front of Izuku, red and green sharing a glance as he sat down. Soon the buzz of regular class conversion rang out. That is until their teacher crossed the threshold. However the students learned and were quick to quiet down, much to Aizawa's delight.
"Good. Now for homeroom, we'll be going over a fundamental hero exercise."
The entire class tensed, nervous for what he had in store.
"You'll be working with each other from here on out, so introduce yourselves."
'Oh, just a normal school activity,' the class collectively thought.
"Sir!" Iida shouted, raising his hand into the air, "How shall we go about this task?"
"Don't care. Just finish by the end of homeroom," the teacher said before zipping himself up into his sleeping bag.
After a short deliberation, they decided to go through seating order. They had decided to introduce themselves with a name, quirk and something interesting. The first one up was a boy with blonde hair and a sparkling complexion. He flipped his hair and struck a pose as he made his introduction.
"Bonjour! I am Yuga Aoyama! My quirk is Naval Laser, which is why I'm wearing this stylish belt!In cas you cannot tell I love to do everything as shiny as I can! A pleasure to meet you all!"
With that the shining boy sat down as the next student stood. Her appearance was a bit odd. She had pink skin and floofy hair. With golden eyes with black sclera as well as two horns atop her head. With equal enthusiasm, she began her intro.
"The name's Mina Ashido new besties! My quirk is Acid and, besides being a hero, dancing is my greatest passion in life! Lets make this an awesome year ya'll!"
Next was another girl with a hunched over appearance. She had long swamp green hair tied in a bow at the end and large oval eyes. She placed a finger to her chin as she tilted her head in greeting.
"I'm Tsuyu Asui. *Ribbit* But my friends call me Tsu. My quirk is called Frog in case you can't tell. *Ribbit* I always speak my mind, but I try to be polite. Nice to meet you all. *Ribbit*"
After that introduction it was Iida's turn as he was behind the newly introduced Tsu.
"Greetings all! I am Tenya Iida! My quirk is Engine, which allows me to use these engines in my calves to boost my movement. I enjoy reading and studying in order to become a true hero!"
Momo, Ochaco and Izuku stifled some giggles at his formal nature. Next was Ochaco's turn. The girl was slightly nervous.
"Uh, Hi! I'm Ochaco Uraraka. My quirk is Zero Gravity and…lets see…Oh! I like mochi and I plan on becoming a rescue hero like my favorite, Thirteen."
With that cheery intro out of the way it was time for the next person. He seemed to be a tired student in the same vein as their teacher. He had swept back almost Einstein purple hair and eyes. With a sigh and a slight roll of his head he stood, hands in his uniform pockets.
"I'm Hitoshi Shinso. As for my quirk…I'll keep that to myself for my own reasons. Listen, I'm not here to make friends, so don't try to get all buddy with me."
With that cold intro he sat back down and looked towards his desk. Izuku shuddered at that, feeling some sort of unknown kinship with the guy. Meanwhile the rest of the class felt as though they just met the mini me of their teacher.
With the mood dropping it was now onto the next introduction. The next student was a boy with electric yellow hair with a black lightning bolt-like streak running through it. With a bit of a play boy kind smile, he introduced himself.
"Hey, Name's Denki Kaminari. My quirk is Electrification and can give you quite the shock. A shocking fact about me is that I like to draw, especially the ladies."
As he sat down with the cool guy smile on his face still, everyone else internally cringed as the next student prepared to go. He was another boy with a small scar over his right eye. He had red eyes and spiked hair. Smiling as he began one would notice his teeth were sharpened to points.
"I'm Eijiro Kirishima! My quirk is called Hardening and I'm gonna be the manliest hero around, like Crimson Riot! It's good to meet ya!"
Izuku lit up at the mention of a classic hero. He and the rest of the class were glad a good mood had returned to the introductions. Next was a boy with a rock-like head. He seemed to be highly nervous, eyes trying their hardest to not make contact, a nervous frown and sweat pouring down his head. Seeing someone in trouble, Tsu stood up and placed a hand on his shoulder. She offered a friendly smile which was returned. He then motioned her to him and whispered in her ear.
"*Ribbit* He says his name is Koji Koda and apologizes for being shy. His Quirk is called Anivoice and he loves animals. He even has a pet bunny named Yuwai and is willing to share pictures."
Everyone felt their hearts warm at that interaction as the next student prepared to go. She seemed equally nervous, looking down and playing with her skirts. She had messy blond hair done in buns, golden cat-like eyes and when she gave a nervous smile one could see the hint of fangs.
"Hi! I'm Himiko Toga. I-I Also want to keep my quirk secret if that's okay. I love cute things above all else. Especially cute little kittens!"
She still seemed nervous and fiddled with her skirt once more before sitting. Her gaze fixated on Izuku for a moment before she looked back at her desk. Koda turned and showed her photos of his rabbit in a bid to help her nerves. She squeed and gushed while Izuku pondered her quirks and her inability to share it as the next student prepared to go.
He was a tall boy, easily the tallest in the class outside of Hulk. He had white angular hair and a light blue mask covering most of his face. His multiple arms were incredibly beefy with what seemed to be webbing in between them. To the amazement of some, his hand transformed into a mouth that began his intro.
"Name's Mezo Shoji. My quirk is these arms called Dupli-Arms. I used to live in and prefer the countryside."
With that simple intro out of the way it was on to the next. It was a tomboy looking punk girl with purple hair. She was idly twirling an earphone jack that was seemingly attached to her ears. She seemed nervous before starting her intro with a bit of confidence in her voice.
"I'm Kyoka Jiro. My quirk is called Earphone Jack and is what's attached to my ears here. I'm from a music family and it's something I want to bring into heroics. My favorite genre is rock."
With the rocker girl done it was onto the next person. It was now Momo's turn to address the class with an introduction.
"A fine morning to you all. I'm Momo Yaoyorozu. My quirk is called creation. I love three things in my life. My heroic boyfriend, being a hero and reading. Once again a pleasure to meet you all."
With the formal, but heartwarming by Izuku's standards, introduction out of the way it was soon on to the next. Even with Mina and what seemed to be a floating pair of clothes cooed at the boyfriend remark. Next, It was a black haired boy with a triangular mouth. Upon further inspection, one could see bumps on his elbows underneath his uniform.
"I'm Hanta Sero! My quirk is called Tape and helps me when I'm in sticky situations. I'm a big fan of old school comics and games, so if you're interested hit me up."
With the short friendly introduction, it was once again on to the next. It was a boy that Momo recognized. It was Shoto Todoroki from the entrance exam. He looked at the class with a stoic, but icy expression. Everyone knew he looked the kind that was all business. With a sigh, he began.
"I'm Shoto. My quirk creates ice and… I like cold soba."
Izuku and Momo shared a knowing look. They knew anger and it was coming from several of their classmates. However that was for later as it was on to the next. It seemed the next student was just a pair of floating clothes. Soon the floating uniform introduced themselves.
"Hello! I'm Toru Hagakure! My quirk is quite obvious, Invisibility. I like cute things as well so hit me up you two!"
The other cute lovers laughed, excited for new friendships. Soon it was on to the next and the entire class went pale. It was Katsuki Bakugou's turn. The Deku squad steeled itself for this introduction. Hands in pockets and with a scoff he let his red eyes scan the crowd.
"Listen up Extras! I'm Katsuki Bakugou, the guy who's going to be the next Number 1 hero! My quirk is Explosion and one thing I hate is monsters who pretend to be something they're not."
Some reeled at how rude his introduction was. Others like Momo rolled her eyes. However, Izuku bored into his bully's eyes with a tired anger. If his gaze broke, he would've noticed Toga, Shinso and even Todoroki having the same rage. That was for later as he took a deep breath, silencing the Hulk's growling within. It was his turn now. He felt some old nervousness rise up, but it was quickly quelled when he was reminded of his girlfriend and friends.
"H-hello, I'm Izuku Midoriya. My Quirk is called Hulk and lets me transform and get strength whenever I get angry. I like Quirks and heroes, both talking and seeing them in action. I'm also dating the smartest and most beautiful girl in the world."
Everyone, especially his friend group, smiled at the honest and simple intro. The second to last student was next. He was a shorter male, almost a midget. He had purple ball-like hair. To introduce himself he stood on top of his desk so people could see him better. He seemed to try to put forth a cool-guy personality. Keyword was tried.
"'Sup ladies. I'm Minoru Mineta. My totally awesome quirk is called Pop-Off. I'm a lover of the ladies, it doesn't matter what type, so hit me up."
Everyone felt the cringe return in full force. The pressure from the cringe sat him back down awkwardly as the last student began to speak. He was a boy, but his head was like a black raven atop a red choker.
"I am Fumikage Tokoyami. My own power is known as Dark Shadow, a being of my inner darkness.. I have a fondness for apples in any form."
With that serious intro out of the way the class simply now had to wait for their teacher to wake up from his power nap. Soon that time came and the rest of the day was upon the newly acquainted class of heroes.
The day was simple first day things after that. They followed what felt like a normal high school schedule, the only exception was the classes were taught by some of Japan's top pros. English with Present Mic. Art with Midnight. Math with Ectoplasm. Izuku was fanboying every period to the delight and slight annoyance of others. However there was one class everyone was looking forward to. Anticipation was at an all time high when the class heard a booming voice.
"I AM HERE-"
Everyone recognized that iconic voice. It was in their acceptance letters. The new teacher for the Heroic course, All Might!
"Coming through the door like a hero!"
The class stared in amazement as All Might struck a pose and marched in with a heroic flare to his steps. He was wearing an old costume of his, one Izuku and a few others recognized as his Silver Age look. The hero's stride eventually ended at the podium, huis shadowed blue eyes scanning the excited class.
"All right you future heroes! Welcome to Foundational Heroics. Glad to see you're up for the challenge!"
The class matched his energy, the excitement for what they came to U.A. for at the forefront of their minds. At this, the Number One hero let out a boisterous laugh.
"Well since you all seem to be so excited, let's get right to it!"
At that proclamation he thrust out a card with the bold letters spelling BATTLE on them. This action got the class even more pumped.
"Hell yeah! Fight training," Bakugous smirked cockily.
"Getting right to it. As expected of U.A.'s hero program," Iida surmised.
"So manly!" Kirishima exclaimed.
'Heh. Class excited'
'Oh like you aren't excited too, big guy?'
'Hulk always excited to smash!'
Izuku laughed and found himself sharing his quirk and the class's excitement.
"Now in order to train like heroes, you all have to look the part as well!"
At that proclamation, the Symbol of Peace clicked a button on the desk as suits with numbers coordinated to each student's desk slid out the walls with the hiss of steam. If the students were excited before then the reveal of their hero suits doubled that excitement. With great spirits, the future heroes took their cases and went off towards their first training session.
U.A. Testing Ground B
The Symbol of Peace stood proudly outside the entrance of the testing grounds, his ever present smile on his face.
"They say clothes make the hero, so let's see what you got, you newbies!"
At that command the teens made their way out into the field each one dressed to save the day in their own way. Izuku gazed at all the cool costumes he was seeing, his hero nerd brain going into overdrive. He gazed at his own costume, making sure things were in order for his giant alter ego.
For his shirt the young hero had on a simple green tank top with clasp on the shoulders that would unravel and collapse into his pants. While Hulk liked to forego shirts Izuku preferred some coverage when out of form. His purple combat pants are where the hero magic shines. They were of the cargo style, multiple pockets filled with supplies his allies could use on the field, mostly medical. It was kept up with a green and purple belt, its buckle was a symbol his other side, mom and girlfriend came up together. It was two clenched green fists smashing into each other, showing the world what the strongest hero wanted to do to them. Smash. However the best part in his opinion was the fact that the pants and belt combo were stretchy, a tip from his mother as she was the one who modified all his pants this way.
Noticing his friend group gathered, Izuku made his way over fiddling with his belt along the way. He just wanted to make sure everything was in place. His gaze shifted to girlfriend and her costume that they had made together as well. Suffice to say he felt she looked good and as heroic as himself.
Now it was an understatement to say her original idea was risqué at best. Not that he minded, a fact she tried and failed to his her giddiness at, but for combat heroics it needed some adjustments. Especially with how her armor came into play nowadays.
She had the metal gauntlets and boots on as well as a chest plate and armor like sports shorts all painted in the crimson color she liked so much. Blue lights filled the center chest piece and highlighted each armor piece. Her mid drift, upper arms and thighs were exposed allowing her to make any creation she needed for emergencies on the field. The techno look was completed with a scouter like eyepiece that allowed her easy access to armor status and formulas for creations.
They both thought the other never looked more heroic, slight blushes and kind smiles crossing the couple's faces.
"You look good, Izuku."
"You too, Momo."
'Honestly you look like an armored goddess.'
'Tell her. Not Hulk.'
The couple joined hands and stood in front of All Might with the rest of their costumed compatriots. All Might observed the couple and their new outfits. He noticed the belt looked to be inspired by his civilian one. Once the connection was made he covered his laugh at the boy's fanboyism. Quickly gathering himself, he got the class's attention.
"All right! Now that you look the part, the training can officially begin!"
"Sir! What will our training entail?!" a white-armored knight like boy questioned with a robotic hand raise. Izuku recognized him as Iida from the voice, though the armor reminded him of someone else he just couldn't place.
"How bad can I hurt the other team?" Bakugou growled. His costume had an explosive military style to it. A black mask with explosions adorning the sides and big grenade shaped gauntlets. Even Izuku had to admit he looked kinda cool.
"Will some be expelled like last time? Please say no," Uraraka questioned and silently begged. She wore a skin tight pink and black costume that reminded Izuku of an astronaut.
"Isn't my cape magnificent?" Aoyama wondered. His costume was like a shining knight with a sparkling cape and red sunglasses. Emphasize on the shining.
"One at a time my quirk isn't super hearing!"
After the class settled down, the Symbol of Peace produced a small pamphlet of paper and began to read the instructions to the class. A fact most of the class found somewhat hilarious.
"Now listen up! A team of 2 villains has acquired a doomsday device and have hidden it in one of these very buildings. The hero team of 2 must recover the weapon or capture the villains to win whereas the villains need to defeat the heroes or defend until time runs out! Is everyone clear on the premise?"
The class absorbed the information for the exercise, many relieved there was no threat of expulsion. Iida, ever so studious, raised his hand which All Might acknowledged.
"Indoor training? This soon?" Tsuyu pondered.
"Correct Young Tsu! While most villains like the limelight, some stick to the shadows and do their villainy under cover! Always be on the lookout!"
"Sir! How will we decide who partners with who?" Iida asked once more, raising his hand.
"An excellent question, Young Iida! This is how!"
The Number One Hero produced a heroically designed box with an opening at the top. Upon seeing it the teens knew the method: a random drawing. Iida raised his hand, another question on his mind.
"Is it wise for the teams to be randomly assigned?"
"*Ribbit* Yeah. We all just met so we don't know how to work together," Tsuyu observed, a finger to her chin. She was dressed in a green and black skin tight suit that helped sell her froggy features.
"As long as you stay out of my way," Bakugou grumbled
"Never thought I'd agree with the jerk on something," Shinso said tiredly. His costume was a deep purple with what seemed to be a familiar wrapping around his neck. He also had a mask loose around his neck.
"Play nice Shinny," Toga lightly reprimanded. Her costume looked like a typical school girl's uniform. She also had a mask hung around her neck and several sheathed knives on her person with tanks with tubes connected needles on her legs, back and belt.
Both costumes sent Izuku spiraling into quirk guesses, however the pressing issue of random teams came to mind. With a confident grin he explained.
"Well, in the field, heroes have to make do with whoever's around or whoever responds. It's like Aizawa said, it's not fair, but we have to make use of what we got."
Momo gave a smile and a hand squeeze at her boyfriend's answer as the rest of the class absorbed that statement. All Might beamed with pride as he continued to prepare the exercise.
"Now, with that stellar explanation, let us assign teams! Step right up young heroes!"
So the students went ahead and soon the teams of two were decided.
Team A.) Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka
Team B.) Mezo Shoji and Shoto Todoroki
Team C.) Minoru Mineta and Momo Yaoyarozu
Team D.) Katsuki Bakugou and Tenya Iida
Team E.) Mina Ashido and Yuga Aoyama
Team F.) Koji Koda and Himiko Toga
Team G.) Kyoka Jiro and Denki Kaminari
Team H.) Fumikage Tokoyami and Tsuyu Asui
Team I.) Hitoshi Shinso and Toru Hagakure
Team J.) Hanata Sero and Eijiro Kirishima
Everyone stood by their randomly selected teammate, each one preparing in their own way for the trial ahead. Izuku and Ochaco shared a friendly smile with each other as the shared a fist bump.
"Talk about luck, Deku!"
"Yeah! Let's both do our best, Uraraka."
Momo smiled at her friend's display before looking over at Iida, a slight ping of pity at who he was assigned too. The blond angry boy grumbled as the straightforward a professional boy scout made introductions.
"A pleasure, let's do our best!"
"Like I said before, stay out of my way and I'll carry us through. Got it, Glasses!?"
"Such vulgarity!"
Momo felt the pity increase and turned to her own partner. Or more accurately turned to look down due to his height. He stared at her with a gaze she was unfortunately used to. He seemed to snap out of it as he ran a hand through his ball-like hair and gave a sleazy smile.
"Hey. Guess we're working together."
"Yes. I look forward to working with you."
Momo chose civility, though she felt her skin crawl at his gaze. She looked at her boyfriend and blushed at what she saw. A flash of green with anger in his eyes, before he returned to a neutral gaze. Her heart skipped a beat at her boyfriend's care. With a happy smile she turned to All Might as the rest of the class prepared for the trial ahead.
The Number One hero held the box and let out a mighty laugh.
"Now, to decide who will go first I will draw two letters! Be ready youngens! "
At that proclamation he reached in and showed the two balls as the class felt stunned.
Team A as Heroes versus Team D as villains
The two former friends found each other's gazes, both filled with challenge and steel. A real match between them, man to man or monster if you were the blonde.
'I'll show you, monster! I'll be the hero that takes you down!'
'Hulk smash puny Kacchan! Bring it!'
Battle Training Building A: Inside
Iida and Bakugou found themselves set up in a room in the middle part of the building, they had 5 minutes before the other team came through. Iida had his helmet off and was examining the area. He observed the fake weapon, which looked like a stereotypical bomb one would find in old superhero cartoons. After a look over, he looked towards his partner, the blond uncharacteristically quiet.
"Well, Bakugou, shall we go over a strategy?"
"Leave Deku to me and I'll leave the weapon to you."
"But-"
Before the bespectacled boy could argue, Bakugou went off into the halls of their base, leaving Iida to sigh in defeat. He looked around the room and replaced his helmet. While he didn't like it, he had a job to do and a Tenya always does their job well.
Battle Training Building A: Outside
Izuku and Ochaco gazed at the building that held their first challenge as heroes. Ochaco held her helmet in her hands as she made sure the earpiece they were given fit, the villains had them too and allowed for communication between teammates while All Might could hear both.. With a smile she turned to her compatriot, ready to talk strategy.
"So what is the pla- Whoa!"
She quickly sweatdropped at Izuku's intense and somewhat unnerving angry stare. The boy caught himself and gave Ochaco a nervous and apologetic smile.
"Sorry."
"It's okay. You just seemed very in the zone there."
"Well yeah. Kacchan and I have a history."
'Bully.'
"Are you fated rivals?" she asked, a strange glint in her eyes. The action caused Izuku to laugh.
"You can say that. He'll probably come after me first, so let Hulk take care of him. While we're busy you can find the weapon."
"And if I run into Iida?"
"You can take him, but he is fast and smart. Try to stall til Hulk gets there."
'Hulk will be fast.'
Ochaco gave a nod, a thumbs up and put her helmet on as All Might's voice rang through the earpieces to the students.
"The planning phase is over! Begin the exercise young heroes!"
Izuku braced himself as he clenched his fist. He thought about the friend turned bully he was about to face. All the years of torment and pain he caused. It was easy to let the anger flow as his eyes took the radioactive glow of his quirk. As Ochaco watched, still amazed by this transformation, the Hulk came out with an excited and angry grunt. She joined his confidence as she walked next to him.
"Ready to go big guy?"
"Ready!"
Hulk and Ochaco made their way through the building, moving fast but silent as can be. As silent as the Hulk could make himself. They checked rooms on their way searching for the villain team or the weapon.
"Not here," Ochaco observed before moving on.
"Grr…annoying."
However thor boredom was soon lifted when they rounded the corner and were met with a quick explosion. Hulk acted fast and put himself between the explosion and his partner. The smoke cleared and the Hulk turned his head and gave an angry glare to the explosive blond who made his entrance. The blond smiled evilly as he looked down at the hunched over monster.
"Found you Deku!"
"Wasn't hiding! Gravity girl go!"
Ochaco gave a nod and ran off down the hall as Hulk stood at full height, ready to fight. Bakugou got into his own battle pose as he stared hatefully at the beast in front of him. Small explosions popped in his palms as the green goliath cracked his knuckles in anticipation.
"I've been looking forward to this. I'll show you what a hero looks like, Deku!"
Hulk gave a confident smirk and let out a growl that was both angry and slightly cocky. The two students charged at each other, ready for the fight years in the making.
Bakugou made the first move and led with his right arm, a powerful explosion building up. However, the Hulk caught the hand, interrupting the blond's plan of attack. The green goliath effortlessly lifted the blond up and threw him behind. Not to be outdone, Bakugou quickly found his feet and skidded to a halt, his red eyes staring hatefully at the beast in front of him. Anger flooded the explosive boy at the beast predicting his attack.
"Deku…," he grumbled out.
"Heh. Not Deku. Hulk! Hulk is hero!"
At the monster's proclamation the blond scoffed. Popping off some explosions he found himself laughing hatefully. He then gave a cocky then sinister sneer.
"I'll show you a hero, monster!"
Hulk let out a scoff again and stood, arms to his side and palms out. He had an angry and confident smirk.
"Show me."
