******************************************

A long long time ago, when there were less humans and more monsters living on the earth. Among all the species, the strongest being on the earth was called 'vampire'. They live on blood and to survive, they were experimenting on other creatures who'd help them alter their food from blood to something else. But, every time the vampire scientists tried discovering something new which could keep them from extinction, they failed.

At this point, their leader passed an order which was to mate with humans. Nobody in the clan can choose their mates among the clan. They must hunt humans, not for their blood, but for their womb who'd carry their children. The fact that vampires had the ability to impregnate even males. And about ninety percent of vampires were males.

That's how it passed generation after generation and the kids of the clan must go to the human world to find their perfect mate once they come of age. And once they find the most attractive woman for them, they'd either seduce them or bring them their homeland directly even if by force.

It was the day when Yeonjun, the elegant hybrid, born from a British lady and a royal vampire, just turned 130. As he was a royal, everyone from the clan came to congratulate him for his coming of age. He also was excited to go meet new people, new world since he was always curious about the outer world. The curious, naive, young boy who had the special ability to enchant anyone with his sparkling eyes, though he never used his power on others.

His father, Count Eloisen had prepared everything to send his son to the human city.

But that night, when everything turned back tranquil, Yeonjun prepared himself to hit the hay, a question arose in his young heart. When his father came to say goodnight to him, he finally asked him, "Father!"

"What if I can't find my true mate?"

"Haha, my little boy. It's okay if you can't find tomorrow. You can go to the human city next year. But, remember, you'll only get three chances. If you can't find anyone, you'll be shifted to a night searcher. And after that, you can't fall in love, you know that, right?" His tone was soft as he brushed his finger through Yeonjun's hair.

Yeonjun lay down while sighing. A night searcher, huh? That kind who hunts other creatures and kills them to provide blood to the clan? With his soft heart, he can never get that job. That's why he must find a mate, a true one.

"Father?" His curiosity only grew.

"Hm?"

"How did you find mom? How did you know that she was the one for you?" He looked at his father with his doable eyes.

"...I saw her during my hunt. I spotted her amidst a crowd. But, as soon as I saw her, my heart started racing, as if she casted spell on me. I couldn't shake her out of my mind for even a second for the next week. That's when I realized she was the one."

"You'll also know when the time comes." He chuckled.

"If you loved her so much, why did you let her die?" Yeonjun asked again.

And for a long minute, his father stayed quiet. Then, with a big sigh, he began, "Sometimes, you have to do those things you don't want to. I had to let her go, for her sake." His smile fainted as he caressed his son's forehead one last time before stepping out.

Meanwhile Yeonjun stared through the window. He couldn't understand why you should let someone go if you love them? Shouldn't you hold onto them tightly? So tightly that they can never leave you? He shrugged his shoulders and turned to his side.

The moment came faster than a blink of an eye. The entire town was full of curious crowds. It seemed as if they were invited to some royal wedding. But, all of them were present there just to send their youngest royal to the human city.

Yeonjun stood on a high valley, his cloak flapping in the wind, and he stared at the people who were smiling, waving their hands and cheering him with good luck wishes. He grinned, waving his hands back before putting off the cloak. After the sun went down completely, he opened his wings and ascended to the sky. He left his people behind and followed the stars' lead.

Yeonjun felt delighted as well as excited. The breeze felt a little bit strong, but he was enjoying the touch of the wind. He inhaled deeply while flying. The fly went for a few hours until it absorbed all of his energy. He looked downward before landing on a deserted ground.

The area where he landed seemed like a forest, although he spotted a gigantic building a bit far from him. He was always curious about human lifestyle, food habits etc. That's why he couldn't ignore it. The more he approached the building, the more amazed he became.

The building actually stood in the middle of a forest, the place where nobody passes by even at the day. Although it wasn't decorated, a very dim light came through its higher window, lightening the garden around it very mildly.

Yeonjun couldn't hold his curiosity anymore. He started crawling on the manor, towards the window that had been exuding the beam. Within a few minutes, he successfully crawled up to the window. But when he reached there, he discovered that it wasn't any window, but a balcony. Yeonjun looked around, trying to peek inside, but caught nothing.

He carefully sneaked inside the balcony. He wanted to take a tour of the palace though he knew what he had been doing was nothing but trespassing.

Yeonjun noticed that there were so many unfamiliar things inside the balcony. And the source of the light was a lamp on the bedside table.

And then… Yeonjun's eyes stuck on something… or someone.

A person who was sitting on the bed, having his half body covered with a blanket. He had a strange, almost round shaped thing on his eyes. He had a book in his hand, and it seemed like he was totally absorbed in it. Yeonjun gulped, his heart started beating faster, his palm went sweaty as he thought the person caught him. What if he thinks of him as a thief? Oh no! He should hide himself.

Yeonjun squatted down behind the door, trying his best to hide his appearance, though he kept glancing at the man who looked strangely, effortlessly gorgeous. He needed to escape from there because his father forbade him to get engaged in unnecessary trouble.

But, he didn't want to leave, not before taking a stroll inside. He waited for the person to go to sleep. As he waited, his eyelids turned heavy. Within a very short time, he fell into a deep slumber.

Only when the birds started chirping, he jolted awake and found himself at the same place, same position. He hurriedly looked inside and found the man sleeping. Yeonjun sighed with relief. He stood up and glanced around. Should he fly away now? But, his father told him not to fly in the daytime. Then, should he just crawl down? Wouldn't it be a bummer to leave just like that? His head was full of doubts and questions.

He stared at the person one last time. He closed his eyes and turned his hands into fists, determining he'd be really quick. And after bracing himself, he slowly pulled the door and tiptoed inside.

Yeonjun wandered around. The place was really huge and it might take a few days just to explore the house. There were so many rooms that it felt like he was inside a puzzle. The dining place, kitchen everything was enormous, and neatly decorated. So, is this how humans' living place looks like? Yeonjun wondered. As he passed through another room, he heard a rustle. He froze at his place and silently peeped inside. And there were two more people, on the bed, under a blanket. Yeonjun covered his mouth as he nearly gasped.

"It's getting dangerous. I should leave now." He muttered and went to the room from where he came inside.

Yeonjun carefully looked inside before entering the room. Just as he wished, the person was still sleeping. He sighed with relief and tiptoed towards the balcony. While he walked past the man, he glanced at him and halted.

That man… he was even more handsome than Yeonjun thought. For a moment, he couldn't move his eyes off him. With his surprise, his body seems to be moving on its own as if he was under some kind of spell. He moved forward and stood right beside the sleeping beauty.

As he stared, he noticed how beautiful even the man's nose bridge was. His cheeks were literally shining from the dawn's mild ray. And his lips? They were just like petals of roses. Yeonjun gulped as he turned crimson by the urge of touching those lips with his own.

Subconsciously, his face moved towards the man as he pushed his lips forward. As his face nearly touched the young man's lips…

The pretty boy opened his eyes and as soon as he noticed a trespasser right before him…

He grabbed the man's neck with both hands and crashed him onto the floor, pinning him down.

Yeonjun never thought he'd be caught by a mere human, and like this on top of that. He wanted to break free, but suddenly, he couldn't use his power on him. He widened his eyes while gasping, squirming under the guy he found attractive a while ago.
