Chapter 5: Engine I
When Midoriya awoke, he screamed. Why? Well, looking above him was the pretty girl from the entrance exams. It was then that Midoriya also realized they were on a boat. "Wh-what happened?" The last thing Midoriya remembered was him falling after...
Oh... Shit. Villains. He quickly arose, causing the pretty girl to yelp. "We got ambushed, greenie," The voice of Tokage said and Midoriya noticed her lazing about, missing a hand that was growing back. "I managed to rescue the both of you before you became shark food, luckily."
"Oh, thank you!" Midoriya said as he looked around. He could spot... All Might. He was fighting a hulking monster that had its brain exposed. "All Might..." He looked like he was struggling. "We need to go help All Might."
"How, though?" The pretty girl spoke up. "We're stuck here..."
"Izuku Midoriya," Midoriya introduced himself, awkwardly putting out his hand... He didn't have time to be awkward though as his mind began working overtime to come up with a plan. He would have asked Second for ideas, but there was no time as Midoriya glanced over the boat to see some people with Shark Mutations circling them.
"Ochako Uraraka!" Uraraka said, taking his hand briefly as Tokage began snickering. "I'm glad to see that you passed... I was really worried since I saw you running around and looking for anything," Uraraka let out a sorta laugh. "We do need to get out of here... I can make others float with my quirk since I can decrease gravity. So I could float us off of here... but I might throw up."
"You would only need to get Midoriya, dude," Tokage stood up and she began hovering as her limbs came apart. "I can fly in style," She then came back together again before bowing. "Tokage D. Setsuna at your service..." She blinked as she looked around. "Buggy? Seriously? Nobody watched One Piece?"
Midoriya scratched his neck as he looked down. "I was more of a Bleach fan... And One Piece had too many episodes by the time I got interested in it."
'First is screaming at you, Midoriya.'
Midoriya elected to ignore that as Uraraka let out a laugh. "Same... Except I was more of a Naruto fan... Never finished Shippuden, though."
Tokage sighed. "You two suck..." She then looked around again, scratching her head with the small hand growing on her wrist. "But what about the villains here? We should probably stop them, right?"
'You should. But that's not your biggest concern.' Second said, far more serious than usual. 'You need to attack that monstrosity... It reminds me of something in my past, and if it is what me and the other vestiges think it is, then you need to kill it, now."
Midoriya almost immediately said no. He would have if it weren't for how serious Second sounded. 'Why?' Why did it need to be killed? "I don't think we should do that if it makes you nauseous," Midoriya said as he looked back up at Uraraka. "I... might have another plan in mind."
'That thing may have been made by the person this quirk was made to beat.' Second responded and Midoriya paused as Uraraka looked at him, almost concerned. 'He may be back, I do not know how, or why he is. But if he is, then that means that the monstrosity isn't alive and it needs to be killed. Just like that man.'
'Who is that man?' Midoriya asked, but he didn't get a response.
"Midoriya? Are you alright, dude?" Tokage asked, suddenly waving her regrown hand in Midoriya's face. Midoriya yelped and Tokage laughed. "Well, there's the vice rep of our class... What's the plan you have in mind or should we go with her plan?" She jabbed a hand toward Uraraka.
"I will make sure we all get across, so don't worry!" Uraraka said and Midoriya smiled. She seemed really nice!
It was then that Midoriya's idea was expanded. "Could you... make the boat weightless?" His plan was stupid, astronomically so. But they needed to stop the main villains quick, and if All Might wasn't already done fighting one of the villains, then that meant he needed help.
And looking at where they came from, there was mist surrounding his classmates. So they needed help too. And Midoriya would help them. That was a promise.
"I can... I think?" Uraraka put her hand sound on the boat. "My quirk has a weight limit... But..." She grunted as a pink glow briefly spread into the boat and suddenly, it lifted into the air. "There we go..." Uraraka began panting as she fell. "Please tell me you have a plan other than that."
Before Midoriya could respond, he saw Tokage looking at him and grinning. "I think I know what you want me to do, Vice-Rep. And I gotta say, I love it. Move the ship, right?" Midoriya nodded and Tokage's arms split off from her body. "You gonna use your quirk?"
Midoriya nodded. "I will..." He put on a smile. One that was hopefully as confident as he wasn't. "We need to help our classmates quickly, so this is our best bet."
Uraraka looked at the two of them. "I think I have an idea of what... Your quirk is slowing things down though, right Midoriya?"
Tokage shook her head. "Nah, Greenie has Velocity control. And what he's about to do will be special."
Suddenly, Midoriya heard Second sigh. 'First told me to tell you to say something.'
'What?'
Juzo Honenuki was having a bad day. Much like the rest of his classmates, who were absolutely not having good days.
They were attacked by villains, and then teleported to... an abandoned city that was raining. Were they still in the USJ? Probably. It was safe to assume that the teleporter couldn't teleport them that far. Teleportation quirks were rare. Long distance ones were even rarer.
But, that didn't take away from the fact that they were being attacked by villains. And it was generally just a terrible time, because they were all saying things about killing All Might and getting paid. At least they were before they were trapped by Honenuki.
He still wasn't having a good time, however.
Despite that, he was at least making a friend or two. "So... you also like pottery?" He asked as the multi-armed boy punched the villains and the rain poured down. Helpful for Honenuki, honestly. He already could soften the ground, but adding water to it made it easier.
"It's calming," Shoji responded. "This is as well, though." He continued to punch the villains in the face as they advanced, trying to attack them with various weapons. Suddenly, the two heard a loud scream.
"FUCK A YOU, VILLAINS. BANG!" Large kanji manifested suddenly, and Honenuki was happy to see his classmate, Manga Fukidashi. He began panting. "Man, that one really came from the soul," He looked at Shoji and Honenuki. "Hi, Manga Fukidashi here. Comicboy wonder!"
"Hello," Shoji said as he grabbed a woman with gorilla arms. "We need to go help our classmates."
Now that was something they could all agree on.
"Fuck you," Awase kicked a villain in the face as they were trying to escape the weld they were stuck in. He looked around at his temporary comrades for the day. "How many more fuckers do we need to beat up? We have people to help here."
"We have a few more intruders," The boy with the bird head, Fumikage Tokoyami said as his quirk threw villains around, laughing. The birdheaded boy sighed. "Dark Shadow, please don't give them brain damage."
"But it's fun!"
"A lawsuit wouldn't be."
"Okay then!"
And Dark Shadow started throwing them around in different, less brain damage conducive ways.
"They're a fun duo," The girl with the frog mutations commented, and the other person in the quartet nodded as he spat out a barrier made of air. Meanwhile, Awase grabbed another villain by the arm and he welded their arm to their face.
"They... are," Tsuburaba panted. "Once this is over, I just wanna go home and get a peach pie... or a nice milkshake," He looked around. "I know it's not a good time. But do any of yo-" They felt a shockwave. "Nevermind! I'll ask later."
Awase looked over to the plaza which was in the distance. They were in the mountainous zone, so it was quite easy for them to spot villains. "It'll be over soon, hopefully."
Because good fucking god, this was not what Awase signed up to do on a Wednesday afternoon... At least not until he was an adult.
"Should we stop this?" Sen Kaibara asked as he looked over to the person beside him. It was Kodai who looked exhausted for the most part.. All the villains were on the floor, choking to death since there were mushrooms in their lungs, courtesy of Kinoko Komori. "I feel like we should stop this."
"No no. Let it go on," Kodai responded, sitting down. "Mm," Kaibara didn't understand it well, but he thought of it as Kodai saying she wanted to get the hell out of here, because that's what he wanted to do.
"Right..." Kaibara looked over to Komori then, she was walking around with a spray bottle and with a nervous expression on her face.
"This attack was... sporadic!" She let out a laugh to herself before hearing the laugh of someone else. Shihai Kuroiro burst from the shadows as a villain tried to hit Komori from behind. Kuroiro hit the villain back and he stood in front of Komori who looked back at him. "T-thank you!"
"No problem, Komori," He then grinned. "Keep the puns up... there's shroom for more."
Kaibara blinked before sighing and he looked at Kodai. "That was terrible... we need to get the hell out of here because I don't want to hear puns all damn day," At least they were probably the safest... And not actively dying to villains.
So that was a plus.
Kodai nodded. "Mm," She stood up and began walking.
And Kaibara just decided to follow her. As did the other two apparently, as they began walking as well.
Denki Kaminari looked at the two people arguing.
All the villains had already been beaten up. They were lying down with minor burns and cuts all over. "No, we go this way and find the damned bad guys, you stupid cuttable bastard," The mantis boy from the other class raised a blade to Bakugo's chin. "Shut up and let's go fucking help everyone already."
Kaminari honestly just wanted to go find anyone else... since he wasn't really a huge fan of the yelling.
"We're going left and that's final you damned extra. Follow me or go fucking die for all I care," Yeah... After what he did earlier, trying to attack the green haired dude, Kaminari really just wanted to be with... less angry people if that made sense.
"Extra?" The mantis boy pulled his blade back. "How the hell did they let you into UA? Do you think this is somekind of movie set? Are you the main character? Because whoever's writing the script needs to be fired."
Kaminari actually laughed at that, causing Bakugo to turn to him. "Shut the hell up, Sparky," Kaminari did as Bakugo blasted a villain who had just got up and tried to charge toward him.
Yep, he definitely wanted to go find anyone else.
At least he was safe, though! And so was the only other person with him.
"Ugh... Why do they have to be so loud?" Jirou asked from beside and Kaminari wished he had an answer.
Because then, he would hopefully be able to make them shut up... since they had a lot more things to worry about.
Mainly, finding their teachers. Since they were in the middle of a villain attack. Which was... honestly it would have been terrifying if he actually had to fight. But instead he watched two people who were far more capable than him beat the villains up.
'Maybe I should ask the mantis kid if he knows how to use a sword...'
"I truly apologize for the disturbance, students of UA. But I must stop you from leaving," The man made of mist said before Kendo batted the mist away and the boy with ice tried to freeze the man. "How rude."
"You're the one attacking us, we're just defending ourselves," Rin pointed out, shooting a scale at the man's eyes. It simply passed through him and that annoyed Rin a bit. But he looked over behind him to see a pink skinned girl talking with Monoma, Shishida, and another boy with glasses. The rest of their respective classes were busy trying to help Thirteen.
"Get away, kids," Thirteen's finger caps opened and the mist man began to get sucked inside. That was before a portal opened behind her and screams were heard as flesh tore and blood was quickly spilt.
That was something Rin would never forget. But, he had to keep it out of his mind for now. "If we just..." He heard the pink skinned girl say as the door was melted open, giving Monoma and Shishida an opportunity to pry it open since Monoma copied Shishida's quirk.
"I'm afraid I cannot let you escape," The Mist man opened a portal under them, but vines stopped them from falling. A glacier of ice then stopped the man from seeing the four. Rin then heard engines start and he assumed the boy with glasses quickly left.
Good... Now all they had to do was keep the mist man held off.
"I'm afraid that we won't let you harm them," Shiozaki said before holding her hands up. "Please forgive us, Lord," She looked at Todoroki who nodded and another glacier of ice was aimed for the Mist man. He evaded then. Something he hadn't been doing before.
"He dodged..." Kendo jumped back toward Rin, Todoroki, and Shiozaki who were the ones closest to her. "Aim for under his eyes. That seems to be his weak spot," She didn't have to speak twice as Rin opened fire and the mist man evaded...
...Right into a wall of ice. Kendo then smacked him, grabbing the man and pulling him down. "Gotcha," She smiled before the man opened a portal underneath her. Before he could close it, the doors burst open again. And the man was shot at. Meanwhile, a clone of one of their teachers, Ectoplasm pulled Kendo out of the portal.
"UA?" The mist man looked surprised as he was shot at by Snipe. "How are you here so quickly?" He narrowed his eyes then as he reformed into one solid mass of a man wearing a fancy bar suit. "It does not matter," Suddenly, he was gone in a portal.
"Are you all okay?" Nedzu, their principal asked immediately. And Rin collapsed.
Good fucking god... what the hell was going on?
He just wanted it to stop to be honest, because it was too much.
"We are," Kendo said before looking to Thirteen. "Some of us... are gone. Possibly teleported? And Thirteen-sensei is injured," She glanced to the students who were treating her. Mainly the more gentle students of both classes who had some kind of medical training.
"I see," Nedzu hopped off of Snipe's shoulder, holding some kind of rifle. "Then I apologize for letting this happen. We could have stopped this before it even started," He bowed down before looking at the Plaza. "Is that..?"
He looked amused and everyone looked at the Plaza.
Only to see a ship flying in, heading toward All Might, Kan-sensei, Aizawa-sensei, and the main villains of the USJ who were all fighting. All Might jumped into the air then and he looked at the Ship heading toward him.
"Is that... Midoriya?" Rin asked, looking at his classmates and teachers just to be sure his eyes weren't deceiving him. Midoriya was standing at the front of the ship, crossing his arms and brandishing his gauntlets like Pistols.
"Holy Hellsing..." Snipe whistled before letting out a laugh.
"It is!" Tetsutetsu cheered. "And he looks badass!"
Despite the absurdity of it... Rin could not agree more.
Toshinori was having a tough time.
Afters being a tiny bit late to saving his students, he had to fight... to be frank, it was All for One's work for sure. Regeneration, and Shock Absorption. "Nomu here is our cheat code, All Might!" The young man who had introduced himself as Tomura Shigaraki said with this twisted smile on his face.
He was punched in the side, right where is injury was and Toshinori winced before punching the Nomu in the face again. It crumpled briefly before regenerating. Any damage that he did do was reversed. "I am... the Symbol of Peace!" He punched the Nomu away from him before taking a few deep breaths.
He had to keep this thing from his students. He had faith in their abilities! He had only seen them all fight in the Battle Trials, but they would keep each other safe. That he had faith in. So, he needed to make sure this creature didn't harm them. And then he had to arrest its "leader."
Toshinori grabbed the creature by the fist and pulled back as hard as he could as he noticed Shigaraki creeping up from the side. He dodged as the young man held out his own hand. Toshinori's many years as a hero told him that he should not let the man touch him.
So, he punched him. Or he would have. "NOMU!" The creature blocked All Might's fist and Shigaraki laughed. "Nomu obey's my every command, All Might. And he's programmed to defend me any time I am in danger," Toshinori grit his teeth as he was punched in the side again.
The villains wanted to play like this? Well two could play that game! All Might aimed for the Nomu's brain, knowing that was where the regeneration stemmed from. But before he could land the blow, his attack was intercepted by the man of mist.
"A student has escaped, Tomura Shigaraki. And the rest of UA's staff has arrived," Toshinori was glad to hear that. But Shigaraki began scratching his neck as Toshinori noted Aizawa and Kan fighting the villains around him. They were keeping them away from him, helping him fight the Nomu.
He would have to thank them later! Maybe a fruit basket would be nice? Toshinori wasn't used to giving gifts. But, he would think about that later as Shigaraki glared at him. "Plan B. Kurogiri!" A portal opened up under All Might, and then it began closing, with the Nomu pushing him into it.
Toshinori wasn't one to let that happen, however! He grabbed the Nomu and pulled its head down into the portal, He then used it as a foot hold to jump out of the portal as it closed, clipping the Nomu's head.
It screeched, but Toshinori saw a portal open beside Shigaraki.
Before he could stick his hand through it, everyone heard a voice. "Well, Well Well..." The voice sounded nervous, but Toshinori recognised that as Izuku Midoriya's voice. "I leave for the day and The Catholics are Crusading and the Nazis are invading."
Huh...
Toshinori had never been more proud in his life as he heard those words spoke. Meanwhile, Shigaraki's eyes widened. "IS THAT A FUCKING BOAT? WHAT IN THE FUCK KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THAT?" The boat set to be in the water zone was floating toward them, and Toshinori saw two other students jump off of it and away from them. Ochako Uraraka and Setsuna Tokage.
Midoriya stayed, however. And he held his arms out before placing them on the boat as it flew over them all.
"That's my student!" Kan shouted suddenly. "This is why I wanted him, Aizawa!"
Aizawa sighed. "He's going to kill us..."
"That doesn't matter!"
Toshinori should probably get them all out of there...
That's when Toshinori noticed a blue and pink glow that was there.
And then? The pink disappeared.
After that? The boat came crashing down.
Chapter 6: Engine II
Somehow, Ready to Die was playing on the ship as Midoriya jumped off. The hand villain was hit into a portal by the ship. All Might was in the air as he smiled at Midoriya, it was something that Midoriya recognised from the last time his father was home. Pride.
"Young Midoriya? Was that Hellsing Abridged you quoted?" All Might asked, and internally Midoriya felt like he could hear seven screams of wonder go on as the two landed safely in the wreckage of the boat as a portal opened up in front of them.
"It was?" He hadn't actually seen it, he just parroted what First had told him through Second. "Ask All Might if he wants to go on a walk-" Second cut into his thoughts suddenly, and Midoriya just decided to not question it. "Uh... do you want to go on a walk?"
All Might's smile stretched as they looked over to the villain. "A walk you say?" Suddenly, from the speakers below them, Ready to Die continued to blast from the speakers. And that's when All Might rushed forward. A portal opened up in front of the hand villain. All Might pulled his arm back as a large black one came out.
Midoriya rushed forward and managed to place his hand on the arm of the creature. "Breaks!" He shouted, and the creature's movement slowed down. Midoriya then pointed his gauntlets at the hand villain, shooting out two projectiles that hit the man in the chest.
Meanwhile, the creature's arm tried to move to intercept the attack. The man saw that and he glared at Midoriya. "What did you do to Nomu you cheater? Why is Nomu's movement speed crippled?" He began scratching his arms as he fell down and into a portal, moving backward.
"That is not for you to know!" All Might stopped, just before he punched into the portal. Another portal opened up then, this time in front of the hand villain. A portal then opened behind Midoriya, and he felt death just behind him. But before anything could touch him, a piece of rubble flew behind him, enlarged to the size of a boulder.
"FUCK-" The hand villain pulled his arm back from the portal. He then turned and then looked up at the mountain zone to see that the students of UA who were teleported had come together. "This... is why we shouldn't have gotten the fodder. Damnit! I knew we should have bugged Sensei for more Nomu... Kurogiri, go ask Sensei for mo-"
"You won't get to ask whoever this "sensei" is," Kodai was handed another rock via Tokage. "Rin, Fukidashi. Aim," The two students prepped as the hand villain began screaming for his Nomu to kill All Might so they could leave already. "Fire!"
'Sensei...' Second could be heard screaming and Midoriya noticed All Might's face darken as he froze. And from under him, the Nomu grabbed his legs. The mist man beside the hand villain opened up another portal then. One from behind Shigaraki and beside All Might... right where his weak spot was. 'Shit- That may actually injure him... Use Gearshift.'
Without hesitation, Midoriya activated it, he could feel it. Specifically, in his blood. He had no time to care about how he activated it. He just rushed over to All Might, grabbing him just before the attacks could go through the portal, and pushing All Might out of the way.
And everything hurt. But, Midoriya didn't scream or cry, despite how much it hurt. He instead looked at All Might and then his Classmates before looking at the hand villain. "Damnit! It's that cheater... He has some kind of speed hax... Kurogiri," The hand villain scratched his neck, calling for the well dressed mist villain as several portals opened around Midoriya. "I have my own hax too, cheater..."
Suddenly, he was shot in the hand.
"YEAH!"
"BOOM!"
And then he was bombarded with sound, as well as several enlarged scales that were dodged. The hand villain screamed as a portal enveloped him, carrying him over to the side. All Might then looked down and at Midoriya. "Leave this to me, Young Midoriya! You've done well today!"
Midoriya panted as he collapsed onto the rubble below him. "Thank you... All Might," Truthfully, he was in too much pain to feel excited. But, before he could feel anymore pain, he was grabbed by All Might and carried to the Mountain zone.
There he was placed with Kodai and Rin. "I noticed you three talking over lunch the other day, so I hope you two will take care of him for me!" All Might then reappeared near the hand villain, trying to punch him. Once again, a portal was opened to block.
All Might then moved to punch the Mist villain, which he successfully did. "Kurogiri!" The hand villain brandished his hands like they were weapons. "Nomu!" The Nomu moved, and All Might turned briefly, punching the creature in the face. It punched back.
But said punch was easily blocked thanks to it being... slow.
"I hate today," Kodai said and... Midoriya couldn't agree more. Why... just why did this have to happen? On the bright side, Midoriya was happy that he got to help All Might... "Are you okay, Midoriya?" Kodai asked, leaning down to look over Midoriya.
"Tomura Shigaraki, I believe we should leave," The mist man said as he reappeared next to the now named Shigaraki.
He groaned, closing in on himself as it felt like his blood burned... 'I see why you didn't want me to use Gearshift on myself now...' Midoriya once again groaned as he was propped up by a rock. "My blood hurts..." Suddenly, they heard explosions.
And then Kacchan came blasting into the area, just as All Might punched into a portal.
He was promptly hit into the ground.
"Kacchan!" Midoriya shouted, reaching toward him before falling back down. He was then grabbed by Kodai and Rin and held up into a standing position. "Thanks..." He needed to go help again. He really did. He couldn't just be standing there.
"Damned explosion boy," Kamakiri, a yellow haired 1-A student, and a purple haired 1-A student entered the area as well. "What the fuck's going on?" Blades extended out of his arms as he saw Shigaraki then.
Shigaraki put his hand through another portal and All Might dashed toward him, punching into a portal as it just managed to open before he could pull back. "Game over, All Might!" All Might hit himself in the side, causing him to spit out blood as he stepped back, the rubble under him being kicked up in the process. "Kurogiri, no-"
He was shot in the shoulder. "Dont'cha dare move another finger on yer hand unless you wanna be missing some fingers," Midoriya and his classmates heard, and they all turned to see Snipe. "We let this little game of "charades" go on long enough," He held up quotation marks.
"Damnit, UA... Kurogir-" Suddenly, Shigaraki was punched in the head and like a sack of potatoes, he fell, All Might having punched him. A thunk was heard as his body hit the ground, his chest still moving.
"TOMURA SHIGARAKI!" Before Kurogiri could do anything, he was shot. And then he was shot again and again and again.
But before he could be shot one final time, he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
It was over...
"Holy shit, didn't get to get in on the action," Kamakiri looked down, almost looking disappointed. He then looked at their fellow classmates behind him. "Anymore villains behind us?"
"No," The Purple haired girl said instantly before letting out a sigh of relief. "So... is it over?"
"It is," The principal of UA hopped off of Snipe's shoulder. "I deeply apologise to you all for letting this happen. This was never meant to happen and for that I apologise."
Before Midoriya could respond, he looked up and heard Second. 'You need to know about a certain someone...'
'Long ago in the Dawn of Quirks, back before I even had One for All, there were two brothers.' Second began before sighing. 'In short, one of them was First, or rather known as Yoichi Shigaraki, and his brother was known as All for One, or to us as Satan Incarnate.'
Midoriya wanted to say something, anything. But he had the feeling that he shouldn't say anything, not until the story was over with. So, he shifted in the hospital bed and got comfortable, since he had a feeling that this story would be a long one.
'The man could give and take quirks. And he was evil. Very evil. He's committed every crime you can think of and even some that you can't. And in short, he created One for All by giving a Stockpiling quirk to his brother who had the other half of the base for One for All. That's when the legacy of One for All began, and it was meant to stop All for One.'
A man who could give and take quirks... Midoriya could see why he was evil. A power like that, especially in a time like the Dawn of Quirks... It was like giving a robber access to every bank in Japan freely... And the implications of the story were horrifying.
'After eight generations, reaching Eighth, All for One was killed. Or so we thought.' Second let out a noise that Midoriya knew was filled with a deep amount of rage. 'He's somehow still alive, and he is currently in the shadows if he's acting through some kind of successor... or was.' Midoriya then closed his eyes.
And suddenly, Second was in front of him. "Izuku Midoriya," The area they were in resembled a wartorn wasteland that vaguely resembled a city. "As the Ninth holder of One for All, you are the one that must end All for One now."
Midoriya blinked, and yelped. 'Kill him?'
Second nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You live in a society where most villains can just be thrown into a prison and be forgot about. All for One? He is Satan Incarnate. He will escape and hurt more innocent people. And you, Izuku Midoriya are obligated to kill him now that you are the Ninth," He looked down, staring Midoriya in the eyes. "Kids shouldn't be forced to kill, nobody else should be brought into this war. You need to be the last, Izuku Midoriya."
Kill... He needed to kill... 'But what if I can't do it?'
Second's grip tightened. "You will or you won't. That's how it is with every user," He smiled before crouching down to look Midoriya in the eyes. "You are the Ninth. You are so much stronger than you think you are," He sighed. "I have faith that you can do it."
Suddenly, Midoriya woke up and he saw his mother. "IZUKU!" She practically jumped over several medical devices and gave Midoriya a hug. "I was so worried when I got the call from the school... You nearly had a heart attack," She continued to hug Midoriya and he hugged her back.
He didn't know how to feel at the moment. He needed to get his mind off of... well everything involving All for One at the moment. "Are you okay? How do you feel? Are you in pain?" His mother asked, and Midoriya smiled at her.
"I'm feeling alright, Mom," He sat up as his mother let go. "How are my classmates? I didn't really get a chance to ask anybody after..." He looked down and at the hospital bed... He was the only one of his classmates who needed to go to the hospital, thankfully.
"I don't know... but I saw one of your teachers get carted off in an ambulance," Inko hugged Midoriya again. "Are you sure this is what you want to do? It's so dangerous... You could die at any time, Izuku..."
"Yes," He responded immediately, "I want to save everyone, just like All Might..." He let a smile creep onto his face. It was a shaky one, but it was still there. "I want to be a hero, Mom. Even if it's dangerous... I have to be one."
At that, Inko let go and nodded. "Okay... Are you sure though?" Midoriya nodded. "Alright... promise me that you won't get hurt like that again. I don't want to see my baby boy hurt like that again..."
"I promise," Midoriya said, and somehow he already knew that he lied. And it would hurt to see his mother cry when the promise was inevitably broken.
But...
He would be a hero. Even if that meant...
He was the Ninth holder of One for All now. And he wanted to be a hero like All Might, and if All Might was willing to do something, then Midoriya had to be willing to do it too. No matter how he felt at the moment.
'I'll do it.'
'Good. I think it's time that I start training you myself.'
"Alright, what the fuck do we do about my brother?" Yoichi asked as he slammed his arms on the table, looking at his fellow One for All vestiges.
"We give Ninth all our quirks early somehow and make him fight Satan to the death?" Bruce suggested, and it was tempting. But... Honestly, Yoichi could probably pull it off somehow, being in One for All for as long as he has did give him some benefits.
"Tempting, but too much effort. Next," Yoichi snapped his fingers as he tapped on the Roundtable.
"We escape One for All, find where All for One lives, and kick him in the dick a bunch until he can actually feel it?" Nana was the one who went next. Personally, Yoichi would love to do that... But he had limits to his power.
"Also tempting, but we've tried to escape One for All before and failed. Next," Yoichi snapped his fingers again as Nana floated away dejectedly.
"We fuck his mom!" Banjo excitedly said then before looking at everyone. "What? It'd be the best revenge..." Yoichi snapped his fingers and a window opened as Yoichi sighed. "Oh right, she's your mom too. Uh... in my defense he's my mom's ex!" Banjo was kicked out the window by En who sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose before sitting back down.
"He'll be back in an hour," En wiped his hands before turning to Yoichi. "The rest of us need to get in touch with Ninth somehow. There's only so much Second can teach him alone and passing messages through Second won't achieve the same effect," He then pushed a paper forward, it had nothing written on it. "We need to force Ninth to unlock more of our quirks for that."
"But we can't exactly force it on him," Hikage said as he materialized. "Well, we probably could, but is he ready?"
Yoichi shook his head. "Not really. He's still learning how to use Gearshift..."
"Which is why he needs an easy to use Quirk next!" Nana stopped looking sad as she sprung back to unlife. "So, he should get Float next!"
Yoichi could see Hikage prepare to say something, but before another 40 hour argument broke out, he stood up. "Nah, lets let it be natural. When it happens, it happens. He'll probably unlock something like Fa Jin first if anything."
"Oh god..." Bruce grinned then. "He'll be a little monster if he can master Gearshift and Fa Jin," He turned to Yoichi. "If he does get Fa Jin, I am telling him to kick All for One in the dick at... How fast would he be able to go? Do we know?" Yoichi shrugged.
"Mach fuck you probably," En said from the side, causing the remaining vestiges to express their agreement through quiet whispers. "With how long both of your quirks have been in One for All, I wouldn't be surprised if he could go well past the speed of sound."
"Same honestly... With 100% of Stockpile, Fa Jin, and Gearshift he might be able to go well past... Mach 3? Mach 4? Hell, I cou-" Suddenly, as Yoichi spoke, a window opened up above the table and Banjo fell onto it, groaning.
"I've been falling for 30 minutes!" He stood up and popped his shoulder back into place. "Please tell me we're at least stabbing All for One in the ass?" He looked around. "No?" He groaned. "Why can't we have nice things?"
"We're just vestiges of ourselves that are trapped inside of a quirk?" Yoichi offered.
Banjo blinked. "Okay yeah that makes sense."
"UA is growing weak," Nedzu stared at his staff as he placed down a document sent to him by the HPSC. They were obligated to report the attack on UA to the commission, and due to that the commission was hounding Nedzu for allowing this to happen.
It was rather annoying, but he understood the message. Train his students better, get more staff, or both. Naturally, he couldn't just call and get more staff. Contrary to popular belief, but he didn't have all that much pull outside of UA.
He was allied with All Might and he could hold his own against the HPSC, but those were all circumstantial. And should UA's reputation go down, any influence he may have would disappear. He couldn't just go get a random school demolished or just ask anyone to be a Teacher of UA. He had to have positions open, go through the hiring process, and then hire someone.
But, he could train students more. And he could call in favors from heroes who did work with UA, such as the Wild Wild Pussy Cats. But, the Training Camp was meant to be a surprise. Not only that, but there was only so much time that the team could devote to helping students.
So, Nedzu would list a position or two as open. But, he would make sure that they were commited and knew what they were doing... Maybe he could also find people who could speak about the dangers of quirks to help the students? To help show them why they needed to get better control of their quirks?
There was always the man online who had stellar opinions on Tea...
Nedzu shook himself out of his thoughts as he looked at his staff. "Thirteen has been injured and will thus be out of the public eye for a while. I'll have UA's media response team prepare to deal with that," Since they were the employers of Thirteen and she hasn't been seen since job hours, UA would have to handle that mess. "A student was injured as well."
"Young Midoriya did that damage to himself to help me, I will take any and all responsibility for that," All Might bowed his head down before looking back up. "What will we do about the Sports Festival coming up?"
"Shouldn't we cancel it?" Midnight asked, before shaking her head. "No we couldn't... But what if we're attacked like that again? Shigaraki couldn't have been the boss," No, he couldn't have been. That was a man much more evil than any of his staff should know about.
"He couldn't have been," Kan said as he shook his head, placing his arms on the table. "He mentioned a Sensei... We should look into that man later," Kan looked at the document Nedzu placed down earlier. "What about the other students besides Midoriya? They all have to have been psychologically effected."
"They have been," Nedzu nodded and pulled out another document. "Each student was asked to report on their mental health and if they wanted to continue with the heroics course. There are several students to worry about in particular."
"And those are?" Aizawa asked, leaning forward as he pulled out a jelly pouch.
Nedzu held out three fingers. "Izuku Midoriya who didn't mention feeling anything. I suspect that he is lying about the effects the USJ had on his mental health. I have no evidence to back it up at the moment, but I would like you to keep an eye on him, Kan," The blood hero nodded. "The second one is Denki Kaminari who expressed concerns of feeling weak. I expect you to make sure that he doesn't let himself fall behind, Aizawa."
"I'll make sure he doesn't," Eraserhead said before sipping on his jelly pouch.
"Good," Nedzu nodded, happy to see that Aizawa wasn't mentioning expulsion. The last time that he didn't expel a student in his class was when the kid he wanted to expel took away his sleeping bag and then fought him in his pocket dimension for the right to remain in class. He lost because Aizawa was an experienced pro. And the boy tripped and fell during the fight and Aizawa accidentally hit him somewhere he didn't mean too.
That was a funny story.
"And the third student is Yuuga Aoyama who said he felt anxious and guilty. I would suggest keeping a close eye on him, and that is to all of you," He said and all his staff members nodded, not saying a word about Nedzu's choice. "Now, I expect both of you," He looked at Kan and Aizawa directly, "To train your students. Make sure they are ready for the Sports Festival in just under three weeks. I will try to acquire help in that endeavor in the meantime. You all are dismissed."
Everyone but All Might left, and as soon as soon as it was just them, All Might deflated. "We need to talk," The Symbol of Peace wasn't smiling. It reminded him of the time when he, Tsukauchi, Torino, Sasaki, and All Might infiltrated one of All for One's operations.
As it turns out, All Might's time in America was rather intriguing. And it involved a lot of laws being broken, and Torino having blackmail involving a certain white substance used to act natural during a rave to lure out a fast food mascot.
American criminals were even stranger than Japanese ones.
"We do," Nedzu nodded, pressing a button. "Should we call the rest of the Cabal?"
Toshinori Yagi sighed. "Do it."
'You're going to be using your air barrier more. So, you need to train it.' Second explained as Midoriya stood at Dagobah Beach. 'Walk into the water and try to propel it forward as fast as you can.'
Like usual, Midoriya obeyed. Activating his air shield and then taking a step into the water.
And all water within a three meter radius of him evaporated. Or rather, it was propelled to the left at an extremely high speed. One that caused Midoriya to blink in surprise. Water tried to fill the void left where Midoriya was, but it kept getting propelled away.
'Keep walking. The more resistance you face, the more you should apply Gearshift. If you can make it past even the biggest of waves, then we can move onto step 2 of your training for the week.'
'What if I can't make it?' Midoriya wasn't about to give up, but there was still that bit of fear in him. But, this was training so he should be fine.
'Then you will get lost. Usually when green haired people get lost...' Second sighed and Midoriya wanted to ask what happened, but Second shut that line of thought down immediately. 'Just go.'
Nodding, Midoriya took a deep breath as he crouched down, shifting his feet and digging them into the sand as he extended his palm out, letting his fingers stretch and touch the air. The air held a faint blue glow as it sped up. Each molucule in the air pushed and manipulated to go faster.
And then?
Midoriya began walking.
"Young Midoriya, can you please explain how you ended up in Peru?"
Chapter 7: Transmission I
"Alright, Class 1-B!" Kan-sensei's voice boomed throughout the class, it was a proud roar. It felt inspiring, just those simple words alone. "The Sports Festival is coming up in less than 3 weeks, 16 days to be exact. And that means you all have 16 days to be trained to your absolute best."
The UA Sports Festival... Midoriya could say that he was excited, that he was aiming to win. But honestly? He was nervous. He was also really excited though. He had been dreaming of being in the UA Sports Festival since he was a kid... So many of his dreams were coming true.
'I wonder if this is how Dad felt when those robot transformation heroes did a movie together...' Midoriya shook those thoughts away as he raised a hand. "Does that mean we'll be doing more heroics lessons?" The Sports Festival consisted of two random events and then the final round was a tournament of fights.
So, they would need to learn how to use their quirks better, right? 'You just want Eighth to teach you more, don't you?' Midoriya did not dignify that with a response. 'You'll learn from him. But please try not to fanboy over him anymore.'
Midoriya refused to make any promises he couldn't keep.
"We will be, Midoriya. But they won't be like the Battle Trials were for the most part. There will be combat training, but there will also be cooperation training and quirk training with Class 1-A," Kan-sensei smiled as he clicked a button, showing a recording. "You will also be watching previous years of the Sports Festival to prepare. Now, this technically is a competition. Not just with each other, but with all the other classes in UA. The Sports Festival helps get you opportunities for Internships, so a better showing means more offers."
"Why will we be working together then? Wouldn't it be a better idea to train separately so we won't sabotage each other?" Kuroiro asked, making Kan-sensei glance at him. "I do not mean our class, but the other classes such as Class 1-A."
"Such a thing would be a good idea," Monoma commented before shaking his head. "But we are training to be heroes, and after the events of Wednesday, betraying our sister class is simply not an option. If anything, we should work with them so we can have better showings together. Apart from the bad egg of that class, of course."
'...I gotta agree with First.' Second said suddenly before clarifying what he was actually agreeing with. 'He said that it was the fastest character development ever.'
"Exactly," Kan-sensei nodded, pressing another button which revealed a video of several hero duos. "People think heroics is about money or fame, but being a hero used to be a comic book fantasy where all they did was save people. Today it has turned into a profession where we actually get paid and praised for our services. We have popularity polls and hero rankings. Of course, you could work alone and try to get ahead," He frowned at that before the recording continued, showing a group of heroes beating up a villain who said they were the chosen one. "But, working as a team can give one a massive advantage. They can bounce off of each other and ensure that things go as smoothly as possible. This is why some form hero groups such as the Wild Wild Pussy Cats."
'Don't.' Second said, causing Midoriya to internally wimper. 'I understand, you like heroes... But you already rambled about the Wild Wild Pussy Cats for twelve hours straight yesterday.'
'I regret nothing.'
"So, we're going to be forming teams? Or we'll just be one giant team with class 1-A?" Rin raised a hand as he asked the question. And that was... Midoriya dreaded the idea because that means he would need to work with Kacchan potentially.
And meeting him at the USJ... 'Don't think about him.' Second ordered. 'He isn't worth it, you are better than him. No arguing. No buts.' He sounded exactly how his mom sounded when Midoriya kept calling himself stupid because he failed a math test.
Midoriya wasn't suicidal or stupid. Many people would think so do to the many times he's explored abandoned tunnels and caves alone with nobody knowing where he's been.
"Yes and no," Kan-sensei waved his hand a bit and shrugged. "You can form teams if you choose to do so. Sometimes you may be forced to split up, sometimes you might not be. I can't tell you what the events will be because they are random every year, so you will need to keep that in mind. Now..." Kan-sensei began walking. "Now, we will be beginning our first lesson in Gym Gamma. Follow me."
Already?
They really were serious about this training, huh?
"Alright, you three," Kan-sensei looked at Hanta Sero, Midoriya, and Shoda who were standing in front of one of the walls Cementoss raised. "You three are going to find a way to work together to destroy that wall. Once you can do that, shift groups and go to Ectoplasm to get a clone to be a moving target."
"Isn't that... unethical?" Shoda asked, and both Sero and Midoriya also turned to the hero as the question was evident on both of their faces. "They're still technicially people under the quirk laws, and we'd still be hurting Ectoplasm-sensei, right?"
Kan-sensei blinked. "Technically yes, but he doesn't feel the pain his clones may feel, and he has agreed to this. So have his clones. They signed a waiver... At least that's what Nedzu says," He shook his head before sighing. "You can ask him yourself before doing anything. But for now, just get this done."
With that, he left.
And Sero looked at both Mioriya and Shoda. "So... I'm Hanta Sero," He introduced himself again, holding up his elbow this time. "I can dispense sticky tape from either of my elbows. I can retract them as well, if that helps. What about you guys?"
Shoda grabbed a small metal bearing and threw it into the air, hitting it. In the middle of the air, the ball was sent toward the wall, leaving a small divot in it. "I can basically make hit things twice, to put it simply. So if I punch someone, I could make them experience the hit several times harder. Or I could do the same for someone else or an object like that metal ball."
"That's so cool!" Midoriya said before composing himself, with the help of Second screaming at him from the inside. "I saw your quirk in the Quirk Apprehension Test, but hearing what it actually does makes it better! And that could work really well..." Midoriya then looked at Sero, himself, and then Shoda. "I can control the velocity of something-" Suddenly, he felt a pull on his mind and a sigh from Second. "-Go faster than a Minecraft Youtuber when they see the start of a shitty music career."
Sero and Shoda blinked.
"That... was... great!" Yoichi panted as he struggled to pull himself to his seat. "That took way too much out of me to do it... But I think if we can do that more, we'll be able to at least communicate with Nine somehow..."
"Did you really need to make him say that, though?" En asked, sighing as he listened to Midoriya try to explain the outburst away.
"Yes... yes he did!" Banjo howled from his own seat until he was hit by Hikage. "Hey!"
Exactly 5 minutes after the three had explained their quirks to each other, Kan was back to check on them. And he looked at the hole in the wall. Or rather, the lack of wall. And the hole in the wall behind where the stone wall was supposed to be. "What happened?"
Midoriya looked at him, then at his temporary teammates. "We sent a ball of Sero's tape flying, Kan-sensei," He calmly stated, although the pro could see that he was shaking entirely too much. "I used my quirk on it, and then Shoda used his quirk."
Kan blinked, turned to the wall, then back to Midoriya, Shoda, and Sero. Specifically the first two... "Good job, you three," He was glad that they would need to split up... Whatever villains they would have to face, may god have mercy on them.
Or the devil. Whichever one was in charge of these kinds of things.
"Please don't do that again, though. I'm not sure if Principal Nedzu wou-" "No No, you are free to do that again to one of Mr. Ectoplasm's clones. I want to see the effects of a strike that appears to be going at mach 6!" Nedzu interrupted Kan over the loud speakers. The pro hero sighed. "Just please don't do that to someone who can't recover from it."
"Y-yes Kan-sensei," Midoriya said and the other two grinned, and let out a cheer. Something to the tune of "we're saved!"
And Kan just hoped that there wouldn't be another "The Deadliest Hero: Dead People Maker" situation on their hands but with but with super speed objects.
"Three Students walked into a Sushi place," Rin let out a small laugh to himself. "I'll never make that joke again."
"Please don't... And we've been here for 20 minutes," Kodai commented, grabbing a piece of Sushi with her chopsticks. It was cheap sushi, but it was something nice for them all to treat themselves too after the last few days. "This is pretty good actually."
"Yeah!" Midoriya agreed with a nod after shoving a piece in his mouth. Personally, to him Sushi was the best food outside of Pork Katsudon. Specifically his mothers since for some reason nobody else could make it right. "It's also pretty cheap!"
It was also a shop where you just ordered on a machine silently and didn't have to interact with anyone outside of friends or family. Or just yourself if you came alone. It was a great place to get studying done.
"That's probably the best part," Rin said, pulling out his wallet which was empty. "Don't worry, I use cards only... I'm not gonna flake on my part of the bill, my brother would kill me if I did that. Or my father... or that one cheese mascot."
"Cheese mascot?" Kodai tilted her head as Rin looked embarrassed.
"Was it something in a kids show? Like the All Might Plushie Sidekick in All Might Grand Adventures Season 12?" Midoriya asked, leaning in and smiling. Both of his friends looked at him and he shrunk into himself. "It's a good show..."
"They ruined it after season three when they introduced the talking dog," Rin shivered and Kodai patted his shoulder. "But yeah. The woman who worked as the mascot is a really nice lady who lived next door to me before I moved here. She used to babysit me."
"That's cool," then pulled out Rin's wallet from seemingly nowhere. "I was babysat by a magician once. He was nice... Although, he was dramatic. He taught me how to pickpocket people," Midoriya looked at her and wondered if that was even legal.
But, he couldn't ask about it as both Kodai and Rin glanced at him. "I wasn't really babysat by anyone special growing up, honestly," Midoriya rubbed the back of his head as he thought about his childhood. "I was always babysat by my neighbor. He was a really tall muscular man with lots of scars and he swore a lot. But he was also the nicest person I knew besides my mom... He never allowed me to go into his laundry room, though."
He had to move away due to work, which seemed odd considering that he had always worked odd hours before. But Midoriya had chalked it up to the man getting a promotion or something. Susugu Mitarai would always be in Midoriya's memory, though.
"That's still cool... Maybe he had some kind of work in the Laundry room and it was illegal?" Rin suggested, and Midoriya briefly contemplated the idea before realizing what Rin meant by "illegal."
"My neighbor wouldn't sell drugs!" Midoriya looked down. "He probably just had a messy room there..." Hopefully, because Mr. Mitarai was always one of the most pleasant people Midoriya had met when he was his neighbor. "He did go out a lot during the day though, looking worried that someone might catch him."
"Midoriya, your neighbor was absolutely a drug dealer," Kodai said before holding up a piece of Sushi. "Or he was a secret pro hero that was hiding his identity, but there's a reason why most drug dealers lay low and hiding your identity as a hero is almost unheard of these days."
'She has you there.' Second piped up for the first time in the day, and Midoriya quickly shut him up.
"Hopefully he's turned his life around..." Midoriya didn't want to hear that Mr. Mitarai had been arrested or something, that would be terrible. "At least he didn't wear any stupid costume or anything..."
Elsewhere, the Pro Hero, Wash sneezed. "Washa Washa," He then went back to handing out a balloon to a little girl with a smile. The smile reminded Wash of a certain green haired kid. Izuko Madoriyu? Something like that...
He wondered how that kid he used to babysit was doing...
"Holy shit he's actually at the gym," Banjo said as the Roundtable watched on. Midoriya and Tetsutetsu were doing strength training.
"How can you lift so much bro?" The steel boy was currently watching Midoriya lift a 600 pound barbell with ease. "Like, that's the type of thing people usually do with their quirks unless their All Might..." At that, Midoriya let out a small laugh.
"Little does he know, that Midoriya can probably do the same in 3 years," Yoichi smiled at the prospect of a faster, stronger, and more versatile All Might. There was quite literally no way his edgelord of a brother could beat a Midoriya that strong. "And he lifted Eighth as well, and carried him with ease..."
"I did a lot of training before UA... I didn't think I'd ever get a quirk, so I wanted to try hard... I had someone to help motivate me, though!" Midoriya said, not noticing the way that the steel boy's smile grew.
"Ironic," En commented, eating a meal of pork Katsudon. "Honestly though, good for Ninth," Under his mask, he smiled before he sighed. "I wish I made more friends when I was his age... at least ones that weren't the Yakuza."
"That's manly, dude! And whoever helped you must have done a good job, because you are strong," Tetsutetsu grinned, picking up his own barbell. "Now I've gotta try and match you!" He loaded 600 pounds onto the barbell and tried to lift it up.
The screams of frustration after were hilarious, but there were more important things at hand.
Everyone turned to En. "You knew the Yakuza?" Bruce asked, trying to recall if he had seen it in One for All... Although that was around the time everyone stopped paying attention for a bit, so... En didn't really seem like the type to know the Yakuza, though.
Then again, Kudou wasn't the type to be into Romance anime, and Bruce knew fully damn well that it was his friends favorite genre.
En shrugged. "Before I was a pro, I was in a bad neighborhood. The Yakuza protected the neighborhood. I was friends with that particular clan because they were more "moral" than the rest," He sighed. "And they had this one chef who could make really good katsudon."
Everyone blinked.
"Okay, fair enough," Yoichi said, nodding as the other vestiges let out murmurs of agreement.
"Sensei, help me!" Tomura flailed in his restraints as the large man with a mask stood over him, looking over him almost disappointedly as Kurogiri stood impassively beside him. He had been in prison for the last few days and he hated it. He was constantly forced to wear handcuffs and gloves and it was chafing his damn wrists!
"Tomura," All for One sighed as he looked at his successor... He had meant to build up hate in him, just so he could take One for All later on. But... looking at Tomura just filled All for One with disappointment. "You have disappointed me."
Naturally, he was going to vocalize it and let Tomura know as such.
"Sensei... It's not my fault! The heroes cheated, they knew about our plans somehow. They just had too. And they had a brat who slowed Nomu down and it messed everything up!" Tomura flailed around, trying to break out of his restraints. But it was no use.
"That is why you need to plan better, Tomura," All for One crouched down to look Tomura in the eyes... it still counted, even though half of his head was currently still embedded in some kind of concrete... He was just glad that his ex wife wasn't still alive. Shaking those thoughts away for one's better, like killing All Might, All for One activated a quirk that freed Tomura.
Handcuff Manipulation was absolutely one of his most useful quirks. It was also the one he felt most comfortable with using often.
Nobody, not even Garaki would know about the All Might doll he used it on multiple times.
"You cannot just expect everything to go right, Tomura. You invaded a castle and expected its king to not know about it," All for One then paused to consider what happened to Garaki's masterpiece. "There will always be unforeseen variables in such situations, my apprentice. You need to be prepared for those situations."
"But how do I prepare for cheaters like that, Sensei?" Tomura asked, looking up with his eyes wide as All for One stood up.
"Everyone has their own ways, Tomura," All for One pat Tomura on the head. "You have to learn that yourself, however. Not every answer in life can be handed to you on a silver platter. You need to find that knowledge and rip it from whoever has it."
"Then who has that knowledge?" Tomura asked as he took his gloves off and felt the air on his hands for the first time since he was arrested. "Who do I have to ki-"
"You can't kill everyone to solve your problems, Tomura," All for One cut the budding villain off before he could devolve into a rant. "You still have so much you need to learn about what it is like to be a villain," All for One then looked over to Kurogiri. "Take us to a random location."
A portal opened around them then and Tomura looked confused as he began scratching his neck.
All for One then looked back at Tomura. "A true villain doesn't just kill people. Why kill someone when they could be so much more useful to you when they're alive? Kill who you need to kill. But some people have more value in life than in death," He looked over to Kurogiri. "Kurogiri here is an excellent example. He can teleport you anywhere you need to go and can help you escape," All for One then gestured over to some random passerby who saw them. "A man such as that however?" Bones impaled him suddenly and a scream was heard. "The value of a life is fickle, and you need to learn what that value is to you whilst on your own path."
"My own path? What do you mean, Sensei?" He pushed himself closer to All for One, looking almost like a sad puppy as he realized what the self proclaimed totally not edgy Demon Lord meant. "You're not going to leave me alone, aren't you?"
All for One shook his head as a portal was opened up behind him. "You will have Kurogiri with you," He debated on taking Kurogiri with him, but All for One knew that Tomura would absolutely end up arrested again or die without Kurogiri. So, he wouldn't leave his student alone entirely. "You need time without me to grow, Tomura. Every great villain started with nothing, and now so shall you."
With that, All for One walked through the portal as Tomura screamed behind him.
Now, he had to go sit in his throne once again and get lunch. It took a lot of effort to maintain his body after winning Toshinori's lung and stomach. All for One was going to consider that a win on his end, the first win he really had in gambling.
Of course he gambled his eyes away before getting half of his face punched off, so really nobody won.
But he couldn't wait to tell Toshinori that he was alive because of his organs.
Madame President looked down at the Number 3 ranked Pro Hero as he crouched down below her. "Nedzu has opened up a teaching position," No doubt an order issued after the message she sent earlier. Of course, it was to have the students show progress and for UA's security to be strengthened.
But, she was planning to send an inspector there. However, there was an opportunity that now laid before her.
"What does that mean for me, Madame President?" Hawks asked, looking up at her. But he still continued to crouch, to know his place.
Good. Hawks was a valuable asset that the Commission needed to keep under control. A task like this would be beneficial to all parties, however. Mainly to the HPSC, though. And that was what was most important. "You are to apply for the teaching position at UA."
Hawks blinked. "Does that mean I can wear my fake mustache again?"
Madame President sighed. "You can if that helps you."
Hawks let out a cheer. "Yay!"
'He better not get fired within the first week...'
Chapter 8: Transmission II
"Why are we doing this again?" Rin asked as he looked at Kodai and Midoriya. Behind them was a large monster truck with a blue glow on it, Dagobah Beach was their location. And in Rin's hand was a controller for it. "Just... why?" Now, Midoriya didn't want him to know that he and Kodai were going to be getting into the car, since they'd probably be yelled at.
"For science," Kodai responded, moving toward the vehicle. "We're going to see how fast this can go with Midoriya's quirk active and with it at the size of a real car," Rin looked at Midoriya, looking for someone to be some kind of bastion of sanity.
"Yep! If we can make this work, then we'll always have high speed, safe transportation!" Being able to just shrink and grow an RC vehicle to use as a quick way to catch up to a villain would be absolutely fantastic. Especially since using Gearshift on himself was dangerous at the moment.
Rin sighed, looking at the remote. "I won't be able to convince either of you this is a bad idea, right?" Both Midoriya and Kodai nodded. "You two do realize that it is made of mostly plastic, so if you crash you both probably will be dead, right?" Midoriya and Kodai nodded again. Rin groaned, looking down at the sand. "Alright... just get in."
'I'd tell you to stop, but then I would just be repeating everything he said. Don't be an idiot, Midoriya.' Second said, knowing that he had very little actual power at the moment. Both Midoriya and Second knew that after a while of Midoriya's analysis of Gearshift.
'This is a good idea, Second. And since I can't use Gearshift on myself, then this could be a good way to work around that!' Midoriya then got in the car. As did Kodai. "Start the car, Rin!" Now that he had friends, he could do more risky things like this.
And man was it amazing!
"If I do see you guys going too fast, I will stop this, alright?" Rin said, turning on the RC car. "Are you guys ready?" Kodai gave a thumbs up, and Midoriya let out an excited squeal of agreement as he strapped into his seat with a seatbelt. "Alright... Please don't die, okay?"
"We won't, we're not-" Kodai was cut off by Rin pressing forward lightly.
And the Sound Barrier broke... 3 times.
"Alright, more quirk testing!" Midoriya said as he sat in his apartment with Rin and Kodai. He and Kodai were a bit roughed up from breaking the sound barrier, but other than that they were okay! "Now, you both want to know how my quirk works, right?"
"Yes... Because that was absolute bullshit," Rin said, shaking as he grabbed a blanket. "How did you break the sound barrier three times over? Just... there's no way that the basic explanation you gave earlier could be it?"
"I agree with Rin," Kodai said, smiling wide. "But we need to do that again sometime. That was fun."
"We do!" Midoriya was terrified, but mach 3 was faster than anything All Might had ever done... he went faster than All Might! Who he saw on the beach with Snipe, with a whiteboard that had a picture of a Casino taped onto it for some reason. "But my quirk really is being able to speed up anything."
Midoriya had actually prepared a whiteboard with all the information he had on Gearshift about it. "My quirk allows me to control the speed of anything I touch. Now, this speed can be anything. I can make something slower, or I can make it move faster... The upper limit of that speed, is at least Mach 3, apparently."
There was other information on the board. Like him being able to speed up atoms, being able to essentially have other powers like Vector Manipulation, possible Regeneration, and if he could possibly ignite particles by rubbing them together or making them move particularly fast, Fire Manipulation.
"That... is bullshit," Rin said before looking at Kodai who was nodding along. "So... you could essentially heal yourself, make friction, and have an invincible shield?" Rin asked, and Midoriya looked at the board, looking at it up and down.
"I could. But that's all theoretical," Midoriya looked at the board and he noticed Kodai stand up and look at it as well, "The healing comes with a price, since I'd essentially be lowering my lifespan, and I'd still need some kind of fuel source for the fire... But I could absolutely use friction to set most things on fire."
'You are one scary child... And I'm starting to fear what will happen what will happen to Gearshift after another 100 years in One for All.' Second said as Midoriya watched Kodai grab a piece of paper and look jot something down. "Oh god no, don't give him more ideas!'
"You could also probably vibrate your own molecules. Or other molecules. So, you could theoretically go through anything, and if you used a sword, you could cut through anything as well," Kodai placed the note on the whiteboard.
Midoriya looked at the board, and then at Kodai... "I'm gonna go get a knife," He walked to the kitchen as Rin looked down from where he was on the couch.
"Try to cut through another knife!" Kodai called, and then Midoriya nodded, grabbing two knives as Rin sprouted scales from his arms, raising them up over himself. "I should probably get something... "Kodai enlarged a pillow and put it in front of her.
The knife in Midoriya's hands then began vibrating.
Five minutes later, Midoriya, Kodai, and Rin managed to pull the half of the knife Midoriya cut in half that was in one of Rin's scales out of it. When they finally got it out, Rin looked at Midoriya and Kodai. "Can we please just do something normal now?"
"We can order Pizza?" Midoriya offered, feeling bad about nearly harming his friend... Not really. It was in the name of quirk science. And he discovered that it was probably a great idea to keep the vibration attack out of his main arsenal for now.
Mainly because he didn't wanna blow anyone up... yet.
"Yesyesyesyesyes. Get a Pizza," Kodai said, just before Rin had the opportunity to.
And thus, a Pizza was ordered.
"What are we doing again?" Midoriya decided to ask as he and Kodai were at Dagobah Beach. They were without Rin as he was watching a movie with his family.
Kodai shrugged. "Dunno, honestly," She laid down on the sand and looked up at the sky. Just as Midoriya did. "I just wanna relax... it hasn't even been a week since we've started UA, hasn't it?" She asked, turning her head to Midoriya.
He nodded. "It hasn't..." He could see that Kodai was frowning. "Are you okay?" The USJ was absolutely... not a fun event or a fun thing to think about. But they lived in the end, and the only people who got seriously injured were him and Thirteen...
Midoriya still felt so bad about not being able to help.
"Not really," Kodai sat up, and Midoriya noticed some sand fall off her back. "I couldn't really do much there. We all basically just watched as you injured yourself, Thirteen was injured, and All Might did everything for the most part... It's hard to feel okay, I guess."
Midoriya sat up as well. "You weren't prepared... Nobody was," Midoriya could hear second say something, something to the tune of becoming a leader probably. Because a good leader needed to be there for his friends.
Elsewhere, in a world of ghosts and people long dead, the second user of One for All screamed.
Back with Midoriya and Kodai, the green haired boy smiled. "I feel bad too, honestly... We all could have done more. But, we shouldn't be thinking about what we could have done better... We should be getting stronger so we'll be prepared if something like that happens again."
"But what if we aren't strong enough?" Kodai asked immediately after Midoriya finished speaking, turning her head to him. "We're training to be heroes... And we were just lucky that All Might was there to help us. What if we're not able to do anything next time?"
That...
Crud... Midoriya was not equipped to deal with these kinds of situations. Despite that, he kept a smile up. "That's why we need to prepare for those situations now. We're only training to be heroes right now," He still had the responsibility of One for All on his shoulders, but nobody else did.
'We still need to tal-' Second was cut off before coming back, sounding like he had just fought through a war. 'I'll just wait until First shows up.'
Kodai blinked. "We are... but the whole USJ attack... we're supposed to be the best hero students in the country. Yet what did we all do? Fight low level criminals that even a civilian could have taken down..." Kodai flopped back down onto the sand with a thud. "You are right though. We need to prepare for those situations now."
"We still have time until we graduate. Until we become actual pros," Midoriya looked back up toward the sky. He used to pray for a quirk every day, looking at the sky... His prayer being anwered was something he never would have expected. He never would have expected being here with a friend, trying to help them either.
He would have to be the best hero he could be. Not just for the civilians. But for the other pros he could call his friends.
"We do," Kodai sighed. "I originally wanted to be a rescue hero... But I don't think I can help everyone like that. At least not without knowing how to fight," Kodai stood up then. "I'm going to be the best hero I can be... Thanks, Midoriya," She smiled at Midoriya as the green haired boy stood up.
He smiled back. "No problem, Kodai!" He began walking as Kodai did as well. "I think we can try more stuff in training tomorrow. We'll all be the best heroes we can be."
"We will," Kodai said, nodding.
'Seventh really wants me to tell you something. But for your sake, I won't.' Second suddenly aid, sounding absolutely exhausted.
'...Okay?'
"I leave for five minutes..." Vlad King sighed as he looked on at the class. Cementoss had built them a ramp and somehow they had a shopping cart. Midoriya was inside of it. "What are you doing?" He asked, looking at the entire class.
"We're trying to find ways to stop a high speed projectile with our quirk, Kan-sensei," Shishida said, pushing his glasses up. "Midoriya is just providing the speed for us. As it turns out, his quirk makes him more resistant to the laws of Inertia."
Kendo nodded, looking about as tired as Vlad King imagined Aizawa felt. "I had to be convinced to let this happen, but it has been good training so far, Vlad-sensei. It's good for reaction training and quirk training."
"...How?" Vlad decided to ask, causing Midoriya to put on a pair of goggles from seemingly nowhere. "Midoriya... please don't tell me you don't plan on-" He was cut off by the sight of a blue glow appearing over the shopping cart.
"Kendo, catch me!" Midoriya said as a cement stick pushed Midoriya. He quickly flew down the ramp and the Class President was forced to catch the shopping cart quickly, just barely managing to catch it. Midoriya cheered. "See? Nobody was harmed!"
"Kendo only managed to catch the cart with her nails..." Vlad sighed as soon as he saw half of the class looking at him, looking sad. "I will not let you continue to try and catch Midoriya in the Shopping cart. At least not until proper safety mea-"
"Class 1-A isn't doing this kind of training," Monoma said, looking at the pro hero with a smirk on his face as both of them knew what the hero would do next.
Five minutes later, it was Vlad King in the Shopping cart instead of Midoriya. "Alright! We'll make sure every single one of you can react to anything. We will not stop until you all can safely react to... whatever speed this is going at!"
The class cheered.
"There are almost 2000 episodes..." Rin said, looking at the episode list for One Piece. "Do we have to watch this?" They were all at Gym Gamma during one of their breaks. And Tokage had somehow convinced Nedzu to let her use the projector used for school assemblies.
"Yep!" Tokage then pointed at Midoriya who gulped from the sudden attention. "Greenie 1 over there, Gravity Girl from 1-A, and yours truly were stuck together on the boat. And those two uncultured idiots mentioned that they haven't watched it. So, that gave me this idea. Now sit down and watch!"
"This is stupid," Kamakiri grumbled as the first episode began playing. "Can we just skip to the end already? I've wasted my time on one anime that was like a quarter of the length. This is too damn long, trust me."
"We've been here for three minutes and the episode just started," Kendo deadpanned at Kamakiri who was still grumbling about being a Naruto fan. "It won't be too bad. And it'll be a nice thing to do over our break."
"The Class Prez is right, Stabby," Tokage said, taking a seat right beside Kodai who was to the left of Midoriya. "Now, watch and prepare for greatness."
It was around 40 minutes or so later that they had finished with 2 episodes. And Midoriya was writing down how the Gomu Gomu no Mi worked. "Devil Fruits are really interesting... I wonder how Luffy will use it in the future... He can only just stretch his body, right?"
Tokage let out a laugh. "Yeah... sure," That didn't sound suspicious at all. "But there's a lot one can do with rubber. Don't be surprised if he ends up burning your expectations away," Tokage leaned back into her seat. "So... thoughts?"
"Zoro is cool. And Devil Fruits seem interesting, although I believe we should watch more before any of us says anything," Monoma said, causing some of the class to nod and say their own words of agreement.
"Luffy is an idiot, but he seems fun," Kendo commented before looking around, noting that their teachers hadn't returned yet. "We still have time left before Vlad-sensei and Cementoss-sensei come back. We should probably go get lunch."
"We should," Tsuburaba immediately agreed. "I'm hungry."
That was when Tokage sent her hand out of sight. "What are you doing?" Midoriya asked, his instincts telling him to run away...
"Getting popcorn. We don't need to leave," Tokage grinned. "Just sit back and watch. We will get through all 1998 episodes before we're out of here. No trying to get out of this," She turned her head to Rin who was halfway out the window. He was dragged back by a floating hand.
"Well... 1996 episodes left to go..."
"Yep! Now, watch."
"Mr. Takami. I see that you have applied for a position at UA," Nedzu said as the pro hero, Hawks, walked into the room wearing a professional looking suit and a very obviously fake mustache. "You have the appropriate credentials, so shall we begin?"
Hawks nodded, just before a very important question came to mind.
"What job am I applying for, again?"
It was about heroics. But he wasn't exactly informed about what he was trying to apply too, since that was deemed as unimportant. "Something about quirk training, right?"
"Correct," Nedzu responded after a moment. "Have you ever taught anyone before?"
Hawks shook his head. "No. But I was planning on sending out internship offers to some UA students after the Sports Festival..." Hawks then stopped for a minute. "Okay yeah that's it. I'm pretty new to this whole teaching thing, honestly."
"That is fine, Mr. Takami. Everyone starts somewhere as a teacher," Nedzu said before typing something into his laptop. "Currently, we are training our students in how to use their quirks in the most efficient ways they can," Nedzu then grabbed a piece of paper. "What is a way you could help them? What training could you provide?"
Hawks shrugged. "I'm a fast guy. I can help them train reaction times in battle, unless you already have a way to train that somehow," Nedzu's evil grin did not inspire confidence within Hawks that this was going well. "Projectile training, situational awareness, and quirk control are also things I'm decent at? I think I can teach those."
"Let me lay out a scenario for you then, Mr. Takami," Nedzu said, before pressing a button. Hawks then heard a jingle go off.
"What was that?" Hawks asked, looking to Nedzu's laptop, the center of the noise.
"An online wheel app that allows me to randomize student names. It's very useful for situations like this!" Nedzu then glanced at the results before looking back at Hawks. "What would you teach to a student who can create scales on their body? They can shoot those scales off, but not control them. How would you teach them to maximize their abilities?"
"Hm..." Hawks put a finger up to his chin before feeling his fake mustache all off. He quickly put it back on as it was probably the most important thing he had to use to look professional. "Well, do they have any sharp points or anything? Because if they do, then they could be used as sharp points. Or they could be launched away for a real nasty attack."
Nedzu nodded and clicked the button again. "That would be very interesting, and to my knowledge the user of this quirk does indeed have sharp scales. Now though, next question," Nedzu glaced at the laptop again, and this time he didn't look so evil.
Hawks was starting to feel better about his chances of being hired.
Which was weird... this would be the first job he'd have besides heroics.
"There is a student whose quirk allows him to talk to animals. His quirk has a range in which his voice can be heard, but there are no other limitations other than he can't make an animal do what he wants them to do. And he appears to be afraid of bugs," Nedzu shuffled some papers together. "What can you think of for him?"
A quirk like that... it may be worth it to get him onto the commission's radar.
"Support items to amplify his voice. Kinda like that one banana headed dude. But maybe getting him a pet bird or something to help with recon? Since there won't always be the same animals nearby, having a consistent source of information would be useful," He did actually have to take classes to at least be prepared for this, so Hawks was confident that he could at least give decent answers.
Nedzu looked somewhat pleased as he pressed the button again. "I see. Support items have been considered for this student, but perhaps a pet or two would be useful. Although that is ultimately up to him," Nedzu nodded before looking at the laptop directly this time. "Now, what would you recommend doing for a student who can generate electricity? They cannot direct it very well and if they use too much, they will short circuit their brain."
Ah... Electricity quirks. Hawks had to deal with a few villains who had those once. "Maybe he could try using his electricity only on one part of his body if he hasn't tried already? But he could also try spreading his electricity out. Like instead of it just being on the outside, it's on the inside as well," What were some other things those guys did? "You could also give the kid a weapon and have him learn how to use it with his electricity. Then he could also get wire... Maybe a grappling cable? Th-"
"That is all you need to say, Mr. Takami," Nedzu said before closing a binder he had pulled out of nowhere. He then smiled, it was like an evil smile. "I think hiring you will be an... experience. But you're hired as long as you sign..." He pulled out a contract. "Here," he placed his paw down at the end of the contract.
Hawks was handed a pen. And he quickly signed the contract, considering it a successful mission.
Suddenly, his chest felt a bit colder. And he blinked. "Did I sell my soul?"
"No you did not!" Nedzu said before quickly taking the contract. "You gave it to me."
...'Mission success?'
"Alight, this is your new teacher when it comes to quirk efficiency training and quirk innovation," Vlad King introduced, gesturing toward Hawks.
"Yo," He waved, before looking at each student who he was forced to memorize. So all of them. "First things first, you all know me as Hawks probably. Don't call me that, just call me Mr. Takami or Hawks-sensei or something. Whatever you want, really," He shrugged. "Now..." He pointed his finger at a random student. "You, come here."
Midoriya walked up to Hawks, and he was too busy being excited over the fact that the Number 3 Pro Hero was at UA to really care about being singled out... Was he being singled out? He didn't know. "Your quirk is Gearshift, correct?" Midoriya nodded and Hawks smiled. "Okay, so you can't use it on yourself without extreme pain since your body isn't prepared for it. So, you're gonna need to train to get past that."
"What do I do to get past that aspect of Gearshift, Takami-sensei?" Midoriya had been thinking of possible ways. He, Kodai, and shockingly enough; Monoma had been brainstorming about it over the last few hours during their training. So far none of them had come up with anything.
"Well, going fast requires a lot of physical conditioning. I've heard from another teacher about how much you've trained, but you haven't specifically trained for speed. So!" He handed Midoriya a workout regimen. "This is the training that the driver of a race car would go under to handle the extreme effects of speed, but doubled. You will be doing this every day so you can use your quirk on yourself."
Midoriya looked at the training regimen and paled. "T-this is a bit much," Midoriya smiled, though. Because otherwise he would want to cry. "Thank you, Takami-sensei," He bowed before going back to his classmates.
"As for the rest of you?" Hawks grabbed a few more papers. "Well, they're all a bit rushed since I had about 5 hours to prepare for this job, but take these," Feathers from the pro's wings flew off, taking the papers to their respective students. "If anyone has any questions, I'll be right here."
He sat down then, grabbing his phone and some chicken wings from seemingly nowhere.
Meanwhile, the students scrambled to get started on training.
"I'll prove to Sensei that I can survive on my own," Tomura Shigaraki said as he looked at the ATM... THe third one of the day because the other two were destroyed. "Kurogiri, how do I open this?"
Kurogiri sighed.
He was not paid enough to do this.
