Chapter 5 - The Priestess's Interest

The carriage arrived the next day. It wasn't fancy, didn't even have the family seal proudly shown upon it. It was only big enough for Selene and three of her servants. She didn't mind that. She doubted she would be away for long. Hopefully.

"Amzi, Izzy, Clover and Franky." Miss Olly called, the four of them stepping forth.

Izzy was one of the better hunters that we had, and she knew how to butcher them properly too, the young lady bet she was going as a bodyguard. Clover was also a good hunter, though more in the sense of tracking and trapping, his other useful skill dealt with the animals themselves. Franky, on the other hand, was more suited for the kitchen and spinning. He said his city was well known for their skills in cooking and weaving. Amzi herself was amazing spinner and was furiously protective of her little sister. She likely would've thrown a fit had she not been chosen to go with Selene.

"You're not coming, Miss Olly?" The young Noblewoman couldn't help the sad tone.

She gave her a sweet smile before kissing the top of her forehead. The young woman had to bow ever so slightly to allow the shorter woman to do so, however.

"I need to keep the house running."

Izzy stepped forward, placing a hand over her heart.

"I will keep you safe, Miss."

"And," Franky stepped forward, a mischievous look on his face, "we both know that Miss Olly can't cook for the life of her!"

The proud woman huffed with a glare, but there wasn't any real bite to her look. She really wasn't that good of a cook, something that no one would let her forget. In good meaning of course. She then turned back to her ward, the glare softening.

"It will be alright. Stay safe, fly with the wind."

Selene smiled to her and nodded. With that, the four of them got into the carriage and were driven away with Clover sitting up front with the tired coachman.

"It will take us a few days to get where they said, Miss." Izzy murmured, shifting in her seat.

She was wearing the typical maid dress and apron once more, if only to appease the other people they would be seeing soon.

"The dress doesn't suit you. You look far more comfortable in everything else." The words slipped pass the lady's lips, both unmeaning to and uncaring in a similar fashion.

Her squirming stopped as she gave her a smile, nodding her head in thanks. Many of the others had once said the same thing but hearing it from her Miss was another. It felt more genuine and gave her a surge of confidence.

"I brought some books for you, my dewdrop." Amzi hummed, revealing the new books.

"They were meant for your birthday, but the trip is going to be long. You won't be able to taste my delicious cooking properly!" Franky joked.

Selene laughed softly, smiling to him. That felt very true. It wasn't long before she was buried within her new books and her four friends were chatting away. It was relaxing. No bandits tried to rob them and what Franky was able to cook was still delicious, the coachman praised it, muttering about how such a talent shouldn't be hidden so far away. Franky pretended to not have heard those words. He was rather happy serving his little lady.

Then came the moment they were finally there. Finally at the camp where other Hunters were waiting. They had just arrived and were being guided over to a tent, but then we were stopped by this man, his shouting turning heads.

"There you are, little Sister!" This man was tall, at least a head taller than Selene with seaweed colored hair that was shaved at the sides and give a quick cut on top. His skin appeared to be like rose gold in a way, but with the hair color it didn't look right. He was still handsome though, in a ruggish Selene could only guess.

"I... I am your sister?" She questioned him, shifting her stance. She didn't know him and something about him felt wrong.

"Of course," he snickered, his eyes glowing a polluted ocean color. "We have the same hair color."

The young soul raised an eyebrow at that, in her past life, hair color didn't mean too much on parentage. But then she noticed he was right. Around them the most common hair color was brown, the rarest in sight seemed to be a pale white and red. In fact, none of her servants had any other color hair except for Amzi, who's hair slowly began taking on a blue hue.

"Does hair color have a significance?" She asked, looking to him.

He rolled his eyes, a mild look of annoyance on his face. It seemed whatever she was saying, or not saying, was irritating him.

"Juno Gaea. The eldest son and Heir to the Gaea family." He tilted his chin up in such an arrogant way that it instantly rubbed Selene the wrong way.

"Selene Gaea, the second daughter and sixth child of the Gaea family." She greeted, bowing to him. As irritated as he was becoming to her, it wouldn't do her well to upset him. Not when he's the heir.

"My Lord," a woman with pure white hair, but not a single wrinkle, stepped out of the tent they were being led to. She leveled the so-called brother with a look, one that made the young woman tense as well. "She is to be examined, to see if she is fit to fight."

He scoffed at that, rolling his eyes, but finally left. She looked back to the Lady Gaea, her stern face softening if only slightly. Her eyes were a warm green color. It was friendly and loving in a strange way. The tension was gone in an instant.

"Please, follow me." She turned her back, opening the flap to the tent.

"Will," at Selene's voice she looked to her. She froze for a moment but pushed forward. "Will you see my servant's skills as well? At least Izzy's and Clover's? They are good hunters. The best that I know of."

The woman tilted her head in thought before nodding. "Only them and you."

The young lady smiled to her, nodding hurriedly.

"Thank you, Miss."

Franky and Amzi bowed to their Miss and the white-haired lady before leaving, letting the three of them walk in behind the young-looking woman.

"I am Priestess Liv. Only I and you will see your marks."

"I was told no one could." She murmured quickly. Had things changed?

The Priestess smiled patiently and nodded.

"And no one can. However, certain items from the Time of Silence allow only one other person to view another's Skills List. As long as you permit me to do so."

The curious lady nodded, taking it all in. Time of Silence, it sounded familiar... She likely read it when she first arrived, but with everything else it was likely jumbled around in her head. It should come to her soon enough, or her could look for it again when she gets home.

"Are you ready?" Selene nodded. Priestess Liv smiled to her, placing her hand on a crystal ball. "Place your hand on it and summon your List, please."

Selene nodded again, doing as she was told. Taking a deep breath, she willed it to appear with that familiar ping. It had been some years since she last looked at it, so she was also interested in where her levels were. They had eventually not mattered as much as in the early days.

"Fascinating... Should you wish not to be an adventure or soldier..." She shook her head. "I have no doubt that you would be able to easily find a job of any kind." Liv offered her a smile, her eyes exposing her interest.

Selene laughed nervously. She hadn't realized that her skills were high! She had just wanted to be helpful! And how was it her fault that her new family had so many birthdays? It wouldn't have been fair if she was the only one receiving gifts!

Gulping, she focused again wanting to get this over with.

The Priestess laughed softly, pulling her hand away. Her expression was a mix of bewildered and awe.

"May I speak freely, My Lady?"

Selene nodded hurriedly.

"Of course, my Priestess."

She covered her mouth, laughing a bit more. She sat straighter for a moment before slouching. Resting her head on her palm, she smirked.

"You are quite the opposite of not only the Gaea family, but also of most Nobles that I have seen."

"Of course, she's different! She's like a little sister to us all!" Snapped Izzy, a proud and annoyed look on her face. "She is far smarter than whatever her Level says too."

Clover silently nodded. The young Noble could only offer a weak smile.

"They praise me too much... I just like to read and run..."

"I can tell." Priestess Liv teased. "But seriously, the Gaea family are well known for their Defense and Strength and unless families plan on merging, most keep the basics of what they're family is good at."

"For their pride." Selene stated.

The Priestess sighed and nodded. She looked exhausted, having remembered the many pitiful and pleading looks on many faces. All of them begging her to keep quiet of the secret that hobby those Noble children had taken up as a silent rebellion.

"It's always for their pride." She then sat up, placing her hand on the crystal ball again. "Now time for your warrior servants." She grinned, her eyes sparkling with a curious light.

The Priestess could only hope that the young Miss's servants were as unique as her. With how they praise and practically look at her with love, she didn't doubt it. Not for a single second.
