In the city of Kagahara, Sorata stood on top of a tall building, calmly admiring the view. Suddenly, his expression shifted—he sensed something approaching at incredible speed. Instantly, he jumped out of the way.
A massive laser beam tore through the air, obliterating the entire building he was standing on moments earlier. Sorata landed safely on the ground, but more laser beams continued raining down on him relentlessly.
He began running and dodging as fast as he could, weaving between the blasts. But one of the beams eventually struck him, knocking him across several buildings. When the smoke cleared, Sorata's entire body was coated with destructive energy. Alarms started to go off [ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS, PLEASE EVACUATE INTO THE SAFELY CENTRES. I REPEAT EVACUATE INTO THE SAFETY CENTRES].
"What the hell happened just now?" Soeata muttered. "So I can't even take a look at perfect sceneries anymore?"
While resting his back against a wall, Sughi descended from the sky using mechanical wings. He smirked.
"Finally caught you. You know, I sensed a huge amount of energy passing through the barrier of the city. I should've expected it to be someone like you."
Sorata got up, thinking internally:
"If not for coating myself with destructive energy, I could've been badly injured. I didn't even have time to absorb his attacks."
He asked, "Where's Kojin? I can't sense his presence at all. And by the way, I want to see him."
Sughi replied, "Kojin's not around. He's out of the city right now. But I can guess what you want to do when you see him."
Sughi then built up a massive amount of energy. His lab coat transformed into a robotic suit with energy claws and two additional mechanical wings. With a confident smirk, he said:
"I've gotten stronger than before, so don't blame me for whatever happens to you."
Sorata grinned, destructive energy overflowing from his body.
"Jumping right into the case, huh.You know, I just came here to enjoy a good view of the city… but since you insist on a fight, I guess it can't be helped. But remember—"
He roared, face lit up with a wild grin:
"THIS WAS YOUR FAULT!"
A massive blast of destructive energy shot from Sorata's hands, eviscerating entire buildings.
Meanwhile, Alex and Kazuki were still locked in battle with Kuro. Kuro continued firing powerful lightning swords at rapid-fire speed. Kazuki flew at high velocity, dodging each shot, while Alex used his demonic arm to punch and deflect the incoming lightning blades.
Alex suddenly appeared in his inner mind. Behind him stood his demon.
"Wow… I never knew I had this power. This must be one of the abilities I couldn't unlock on my own," Alex said.
The demon shook his head.
"No. You're wrong. This isn't your power—it's mine."
Alex looked confused.
"What do you mean?"
The inner demon explained,
"The whole purpose of me being sealed inside you is to help you unlock forms and abilities you normally couldn't achieve alone. This demonic arm you're using? That's my power. I'm a divine beast, and I have my own abilities. And remember—we made a contract involving your left arm. The contract states that if you don't have enough strength to handle something, I must step in and lend you some of my power."
Alex sighed.
"Whatever… but I'm grateful you're helping me. It means a lot."
He snapped back into reality, using his demonic arm to punch apart Kuro's rapid-fire lightning swords.
Kazuki was moving at top light speed, slicing the barrage apart with his purple-flame sword and lightning sword. He summoned a massive purple flame technique, forming huge fireballs and launching them at Kuro.
While doing so, he thought.
"There's no end to these attacks! We're as good as toast!"
Alex formed a hand sign. Magic circles opened in the air and another appeared on his hand.
"Blade of Death: Hell Stream!", Alex called out the name of his attack.
The magic circles unleashed rapid-fire Blades of Death made of molten lava. As the attacks surged toward him, Kuro yelled with excitement:
"IF THAT'S ALL YOU'VE GOT, THEN THIS MUST BE A JOKE!"
He created a massive lightning sword and fired it at Alex's Hell Stream, causing a huge explosion. But one of Alex's Blades of Death shot straight through the smoke and struck Kuro, creating another massive explosion that spread to the ground below "What the...?!", he was confused.
Back in the city, Sorata and Sughi clashed in mid-air, flying and firing attacks at incredible speeds. Sughi used his robotic armor to move faster, launching missiles and beams. Sorata was struggling to dodge each attack that flew his way. No matter how fast he moved or analysed, he couldn't fully dodge the beams that were hitting him in the air. Sorata couldn't fight properly, all he could do was fly as fast as he could while tanking all the attacks from Sughi that flew his way.
As they fought, Sorata thought to himself:
"Right now, I have enough speed to keep going. With destructive energy, I can boost my movement to rocket levels and even keep up with lightning or even faster. But the problem is… I'm not fast enough to react to light-based attacks like Shinki and Kenji can. And that's exactly what this bastard is doing.
Sughi hit him with another beam, wiping out several buildings and causing a massive explosion. "Luckily, the citizens of the city have already evacuated into a safe place. So, I guess I can go all out.".
Sorata got up, dazed. "What the hell just happened?"
Sughi replied from above,
"I guess I was right."
Sorata glared at him with a strange smile.
"The hell do you mean by that?"
Sughi explained:
"The last time we fought, I calculated your speed. At your slowest, you can move twenty to forty times the speed of sound, that's because of the side effects of your ability. You can keep up with lightning and other fast objects depending on how much power you generate. But here's the issue—your destructive energy burns your body badly. If you use too much, you'll burn yourself completely. That means you limit your speed depending on the situation.".
He continued:
"You can reach hypersonic speed at max, but if you're hit by a light-speed attack, you won't be able to dodge. Typical C-rank speed levels. Unfortunately for you, im now able to create attacks that can break those levels, poor you", Sughi teased with a smirk.
Sorata smirked up at him, destructive energy crackling around him.
"Huh? So you figured it out, huh? Well, too bad for you… I guess I'll have to kill you now!"
