Naruto SI: Kaito Red Lightnin Chapter 211

Author's Note:

Hey guys!

Sorry for the delay on this chapter—it took me four full days to finish. I had a hard time getting the emotional parts just right and ended up rewriting sections a few times.

I hope you like how it turned out!

Kaito glanced at his clone.

The clone scrolled through the data, nodding firmly. "Yeah. It worked. Readings are stable—everything checks out."

Kaito grabbed a bottle of water, uncapped it, and held it to Minato's lips. "Here. Take a sip."

Minato drank deeply, draining it in one go.

Kaito set the bottle aside. "How do you feel?"

Minato flexed his fingers, rotated his wrists, then drew in a deep breath. A faint smile ghosted his lips. "Strange… I can feel my blood rushing again. My body feels… stronger."

Kaito rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Hmmm. It could be the Zetsu body. Might've enhanced your physique somehow. I think something similar happened with Orochimaru when he used them as hosts."

Minato looked up sharply. "Orochimaru-san knows about Karma?"

Kaito shook his head. "No. This is something else. A long story."

He reached to the side and picked up folded clothes, holding them out. "Here, Dad. Get dressed. We've got a lot to catch up on. My clone will keep running tests in the meantime, just to make sure the Karma worked properly."

Minato nodded, taking the clothes with steadying hands. He rose from the bed, still unsteady but gaining strength with each breath.

Minato pulled his shirt over his head, tugging it into place as he spoke. "So that's how it is, huh?"

"Yep. That's how things are right now in the ninja world," Kaito said, eyes focused on the tablet in his hands. He was scanning through data readings, checking Minato's organs one by one to make sure everything was functioning properly.

Minato crossed his arms, brow furrowing. "I still can't believe the Third Hokage and Danzō would do so many things behind everyone's backs."

Kaito didn't look up. "Yeah. I can show you the proof later if you want, but for now—" he tapped the screen once, studying the results. "Everything looks good. Muscle density, chakra network, organ function… all perfect."

He finally looked up, a grin spreading across his face. "You're perfectly healthy, Dad."

Minato chuckled, stepping down from the medical bed. "I'm glad to hear that."

"Your body's been restored exactly as it was before your death," Kaito explained, setting the tablet aside. "Well, almost. There's one difference—your chakra. It's way larger than before. At least double what you had when you were an Edo Tensei."

Minato nodded slowly. "Yeah… I can feel it."

He raised his hand and let chakra swirl into his palm, forming a perfectly shaped Rasengan. "And my control seems even better than before," he muttered, releasing the jutsu it with a soft whump.

Kaito shrugged lightly. "Probably a side effect of using a Zetsu body. Their tissue adapts easily to foreign chakra. That's why I gave a few samples to Lady Tsunade—to see if she can use it to help people, ya know."

Minato smiled faintly. "You've really gotten good with medical ninjutsu, huh? With how excited you used to get over ninjutsu when you were younger, I didn't think you'd ever get into medicine. I thought you'd focus more on combat-oriented techniques."

Kaito nodded and said, "Well, it's not like I wasn't interested in medical ninjutsu. It's really useful to know, ya know. But I wouldn't have gotten as good as I am with it if I wasn't trying to heal Mom, ya know." He shrugged lightly,

Minato nodded slowly. "To heal Kushina's chronic pain — from the damage to her chakra coils."

Kaito exhaled softly. "Yeah. Back when I first healed Mom with the Heal Bite, I didn't have enough chakra. I had to use my life force to keep her alive. I pushed it too far. The tips of my hair even turned white from the strain, ya know. I passed out before I could completely finish the healing. I was out for a few days. Because of that, her chakra coils stayed damaged. She couldn't mold chakra anymore, and the pain…" He sighed. "It never really stopped. I wanted to heal her again after I woke up, using my Heal Bite ability, but you know Mom and how she is, ya know."

Minato smiled faintly, already understanding. "Yeah… she probably refused. Didn't want you to risk your life again."

Kaito gave a small, knowing smile. "Exactly. She hated the idea that I'd do something like that for her. That's why I started learning medical ninjutsu seriously. That was one of the reasons I went out looking for Lady Tsunade — I thought maybe she could heal Mom, ya know. But even she couldn't."

Minato's brows furrowed slightly. "Even Lady Tsunade wasn't able to. So, she's been living with that pain all this time…"

Kaito smiled faintly. "Well… until earlier this year."

Minato looked at him in surprise. "Earlier this year?"

Kaito reached into his pouch and pulled out a small scroll. He unrolled it, and with a puff of smoke, he unsealed it; a tag appeared atop the seal.

"I call this the Sage Art: Life-Pulse Regeneration Seal," Kaito said, holding it up proudly. Then he chuckled. "Well, technically, Lady Hitomi named it. Apparently, I inherited your amazing talent for naming things, ya know."

Minato laughed quietly, taking the tag to examine it. "So my terrible naming sense runs in the family, huh?"

"Guess so," Kaito said, grinning before continuing.

"When Lady Tsunade told me she couldn't heal Mom, I started digging for alternatives. I knew there were at least two other ways that could theoretically restore her — the Rinnegan, or a seal once used by the Sage of Six Paths himself. Gamamaru-sama, the Great Elder Toad, gave it to him back in the day."

Kaito scratched the back of his head. "Well. Turns out, the Rinnegan can't actually heal a person — it's more focused on resurrection. So that left me one option: recreate the Sage's seal. I had to ask Fukasaku-sama and Lady Katsuyu for help, and let me tell you, getting this right was hell."

He tapped the tag lightly. "The seal uses nature chakra to revert the body to its prime state — not just healing wounds, but restoring the body's natural vitality. The tricky part was regulating the nature chakra. Without a filter, the energy would overwhelm the body and turn the person into stone. Took me… a lot of tries to get it stable, ya know."

Minato looked at him in awe. "So you were able to heal Kushina?"

Kaito nodded with a smile that was part pride, part relief. "Yeah. It worked perfectly. There's one little side effect, though — it de-ages the user. Mom's physically about twenty-three or twenty-four now. She was over the moon when she found out, ya know."

Minato chuckled softly. "I can imagine. She probably hasn't stopped bragging about it."

Kaito laughed. "Pretty much."

He paused for a moment, then added almost casually, "Oh — the seal can also revive a person, if used within ten to fifteen minutes after death, give or take."

Minato's eyes widened slightly. "You're serious?"

"Yeah," Kaito said, nodding. "Lady Tsunade classified it as an S-ranked secret. Only a handful of people even know it exists. And even then, it's not practical for mass production — it takes me almost a month to make just one of these seals, even with my chakra reserves. Though I did make a regular version of it — not as strong as this one, but way more scalable, ya know. It's been approved by Lady Tsunade and is now a mandatory item for any mission above C-rank."

Minato smiled. "I see." He reached out and gently patted Kaito's head. "I'm proud of you, Kaito."

Kaito blinked, a little flustered but grinning all the same. "Heh,"

Just then, a lazy voice cut through the air.

Chibi Kurama walked over, his tails swishing lazily behind him as he yawned. "If you two are done patting each other on the head," he muttered, "are you gonna seal me or what?"

Kaito raised an eyebrow. "Now? I thought you'd want to stay outside a bit longer."

Kurama shrugged. "Eh, not really. I don't have much to do out here. Might as well get it over with and sleep."

Minato chuckled softly. "If that's what you want, Kurama-san."

He turned toward Kaito. "Could you handle it, Kaito-kun?"

Kaito nodded. "Alright. I'll use the same Eight Sign Seal you used for Naruto. Lift up your shirt, Dad — and Kurama-san, please get ready," he said, his hands already making signs.

Kurama gave a lazy nod. "Right."

Minato lifted his shirt, exposing his stomach, calm but focused.

Kaito's finished making the necessary hand signs. "Alright—Eight Sign Seal!"

In an instant, Chibi Kurama's small body turned into a mass of pure chakra, as it funneled straight into Minato's abdomen. And a familiar spiral pattern appeared across Minato's stomach.

Minato winced, his body tensing as sweat formed on his brow. "His chakra's just as heavy as the first time," he muttered through a grunt.

Kaito stepped closer. "You feeling okay, Dad?"

Minato breathed out slowly, still catching his breath. "Yeah… just give me a second."

Kaito nodded. "Right. When you're ready, show me the seal, Dad — I'll unlock it."

After a short pause, Minato lifted his shirt again. The Eight Trigrams Seal on his stomach.

Kaito placed his palm over the markings and twisted his wrist, channeling chakra into the lock. "There, I hope Kurama-san's comfortable in there."

Minato smiled faintly. "He says it's fine."

Kaito nodded. "Good. Then come on, Dad — let's get you home." His expression brightened, excitement sparking in his eyes. "I can't wait to see Mom's face when she sees you, ya know."

Minato chuckled. "Alright, let's go."

Kaito grinned and placed a hand on his father's back. "Hold on tight, ya know." With that both vanished from the safehouse

The afternoon light filtered softly through the window of Kaito's room, painting warm streaks across the floorboards.

A sudden whoosh broke the quiet as Kaito and Minato appeared in the middle of the room.

Kaito didn't waste a second—he darted toward the cupboard, rummaging through drawers with focused urgency.

Minato blinked, taking in the space. His gaze lingered on the small desk against the wall. "Is this… Kushina's old house?" he asked, moving closer to the desk. He picked up a framed photo resting there—one of Kaito with his team, all of them smiling proudly. Beside it stood another picture, this one of Kushina, Kaito, and a very young Naruto grinning with rice stuck to his cheek.

Kaito glanced over his shoulder and nodded. "Yeah. Our house got destroyed during the attack, ya know. Since this place was still standing, we moved in here."

Minato's fingers brushed lightly over the edge of the frame. "I see," he murmured.

"Ah—found it!" Kaito said suddenly, pulling out a long piece of cloth from the bottom drawer.

Minato raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"

Kaito turned with a grin. "A blindfold."

Kaito tied the cloth loosely around his wrist. "Alright, Dad. Mom's in the sealing room. Suppress your chakra and wait in the living room. I'll go get her. Just—don't make a sound, okay?"

Minato chuckled under his breath and nodded, playing along. "Alright."

Kaito gave him a quick nod before slipping out of the room and down the hallway.

Kaito's steps were quiet but quick as he made his way to the sealing room. He slid the door open slightly and peeked inside.

Kushina was hunched over a worktable, brushes, sealing tags, and ink scattered around her. Her red hair was tied up in a messy bun, a few strands falling loose as she concentrated.

Hearing the door being opened, kushina looked up from her work

"Kai-kun?" she said in surprise, looking up from her scrolls. "What are you doing here? I thought you said you wouldn't be back for lunch. Well, I did make extra if you're hungry, ya know."

Kaito couldn't stop smiling. "I'm not hungry, Mom," he said as he walked in, hands behind his back. "Just wanted to see what you're working on."

Kushina's eyes brightened instantly as she gestured proudly toward the large scroll in front of her. "Oh, this? I just finished designing the upgrade for the barrier! I was about to head over to the Barrier Division to deploy it, ya know."

Kaito leaned on the doorframe, grinning. "That's great, Mom. But that can wait, ya know. I need you to come with me—I've got a surprise for you."

Kushina blinked, her lips curving into a curious smile. "A surprise? What kind of surprise?"

"You'll see."

She folded her arms, tilting her head, a teasing glint in her eyes. "You've been grinning like an idiot since this morning. What's got you so cheerful today, ya know?"

"It's a surprise," Kaito repeated, unable to hide his excitement. He lifted the cloth from his wrist and waved it slightly. "Now come on."

Kushina laughed, shaking her head in mock defeat. "Alright, alright, Kai-kun. Lead the way."

"Wait—first things first."

"Huh?"

Before she could react, Kaito gently tied the blindfold over her eyes.

"Hey! What are you—" Kushina giggled as he carefully adjusted it. "You're really getting into this, huh?"

"Of course," Kaito said, grinning widely. "Wouldn't be a proper surprise otherwise, ya know."

Her laughter echoed softly as he took her hand and began to guide her toward the door.

Kaito gently guided Kushina down the hallway, one hand steadying her shoulder as the other kept her from bumping into the walls.

They turned the final corner into the living room.

Minato stood waiting near the couch, his expression soft and warm, a gentle smile tugging at his lips as he watched them. Seeing Kushina blindfolded.

Kaito stopped just a few steps away from him. "Okay, Mom, stop right there."

"Huh? We're here already?" Kushina tilted her head. "This feels like the living room. I thought you were bringing me outside, ya know."

Kaito grinned. "You'll see. Alright, Mom—ready?"

"I guess so?" she said, half-laughing.

"Okay then. One… two… three!"

He gently untied the blindfold and pulled it away. "Surprise, Mom."

Kushina blinked as her eyes adjusted to the light.

At first, she looked confused—then her gaze landed on Minato. She froze. For a long, breathless second, she just stared, eyes wide and unblinking.

Her lips parted, and a faint whisper escaped. "...Minato?"

Minato's smile trembled slightly. "Hey, Kushina."

Her eyes began to glisten. She shook her head, backing away half a step as if afraid to believe what she saw. Then she turned to Kaito, her voice trembling. "Kai-kun… I don't know what you're trying to pull here, but it's not funny, ya know."

Kaito frowned softly. "What are you talking about, Mom?"

She pointed at Minato, tears welling in her eyes. "Please tell me that's your shadow clone transformed to look like Minato, isn't it? Just… please tell me that."

Kaito's expression gentled, and he gave her a small, sad smile. "No mom… it's really Dad."

Kushina's breath hitched. "No…" Her knees gave out before she could take another step. Kaito caught her easily, lowering her to the floor as tears spilled freely down her cheeks. "Please… don't do this," she whispered, voice cracking. "Don't give me hope, ya know…"

Minato moved forward, crouching down until he was level with her. "Kushina…"

She looked up through blurry eyes. "Is it really you? Minato…?"

He nodded. "It's really me, Kushina."

For a heartbeat, she just stared—then she broke, throwing her arms around him. "Oh, Minato… how we missed you, ya know, you absolute baka!"

Minato let out a quiet, choked laugh as he held her close. "I'm sorry… I'm so sorry I left you."

Kaito let them have their moment before quietly slipping away into the kitchen. The sound of a kettle boiling filled the air. He poured the hot water over the tea as his lips curving into a faint smile as he heard his mother's muffled sobs of happiness from the living room.

Kushina was still nestled against Minato's shoulder, her face hidden, tears still spilling down her cheeks,

After a long while, she finally leaned back, sniffled, and blinked up at him. Her voice was shaky. "But… but how… how are you back, ya know? You're not an Edo Tensei, are you? You don't look like one…" Her fingers brushed gently against his face, searching for the coldness of reanimation — but all she felt was warmth.

Minato chuckled softly and covered her hand with his own. "No, Kushina. I'm not an Edo Tensei. I'm alive… thanks to Kaito."

When he returned, Kaito walked out of the kitchen, carrying a small tray with two cups of tea. He set it down on the living room table and straightened up.

Kushina turned toward him, eyes still glassy. "Huh, Kai-kun…" She gave a small, tearful laugh and wiped her eyes with her sleeve. "Of course it's you. Only you could pull something like this off, ya know." She looked between Minato and Kaito, disbelief still written all over her face. "But… how? How did you even do this, ya know?"

Kaito scratched the back of his head, his grin returning. "Remember Boruto?"

Kushina blinked, tilting her head. "Yeah, what about Boruto-chan—" Her words caught mid-sentence, and her eyes widened as realization struck. "The mark!"

Kaito nodded. "Yeah. The Karma mark. I managed to recreate it and use it to bring Dad back, ya know. It wasn't easy… but it worked."

Kushina's hand flew to her mouth, tears returning to her eyes — though this time, they were tears of pure relief. "So Minato… you're back for good?" she asked, voice trembling with hope.

Minato smiled, his tone warm and reassuring. "Yes, Kushina. I'm back. For good."

Kushina let out a shaky laugh before throwing her arms around him again, hugging him tightly.

Kaito chuckled, scratching his cheek. "Well," he said, getting both their attention, "I'll leave you two lovebirds alone, ya know."

Kushina's head shot up immediately, cheeks flushing. "Kai-kun!"

Kaito grinned widely. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll take Naruto and the others out for the night, so you two can… catch up, ya know."

Kushina's face went scarlet. "W–What…..Wait! But Naru-chan hasn't even met Minato yet, ya know! He has to meet his father—"

Kaito shook his head with an amused smirk. "We can do that tomorrow. I'm sure there's plenty you both want to talk about tonight, ya know."

Kushina's eyes widened at the implication, her blush deepening. "K-Kai-kun!"

Kaito just laughed, waved. "We'll be back tomorrow morning. Have fun!" Before she could protest, he vanished in a flash.

Kushina blinked, still flustered, her cheeks glowing red. "How does Kai-kun even know about that stuff, ya know? Has he been reading Jiraiya's books?" she muttered, mortified.

Minato chuckled softly, amusement flickering in his eyes. "Knowing Kaito… he probably figured it out on his own."

Kushina groaned, hiding her face in her hands. "That's even worse, ya know."

Minato laughed quietly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders again. "He really takes after both of us."

Kushina smiled through her embarrassment, leaning into his side. "Yeah… maybe a little too much, ya know."
